I chose this watch for the style of band, housing, and hands. I so wish this particular design came with a dial face that provides a better contrast to the hands. Under many light conditions the shimmer of the face makes it difficult for me to discern the hands, something I did not anticipate from the pictures. I like the blue face on the men’s version but that watch would not fit me and I don’t care for the design details of the women’s style with blue face. Too bad. ... show more

I just looked at my receipt and realized that I've had this watch since 2017!!! I've never had an issue with it not working. So nice to not have to worry about replacing the battery. I love this watch! It's beautiful and elegant and yet still practical as an everyday watch. If you're looking for something you can wear every day no matter what you're doing, this is it. It's nice enough to dress up and yet not too overstated for wearing to a casual event or around the house. Numerous reviewers mentioned the need to turn the crown forward hour-by-hour until the correct date was reached. However, this is not the case. The crown pulls out at two stops. All the way out allows you to turn it clockwise to set the time. Halfway out allows you to turn it counter-clockwise for setting the date. So easy once you realize this! The mother of pearl face is what I love about this watch. It turns a practical watch into a beautiful timepiece. However, it does make it slightly difficult in some lighting to see the time, but not impossible. It's just a matter of tilting the watch to an angle where the position of the hands is easier to see. The date is much more difficult to read. The choice of font and size was unfortunate. Just a little clearer and a little larger font would have made this watch perfect. However, I wear a watch to tell me the time, not the date, so not always being able to see the date doesn't bother me. For someone who relies on this feature and doesn't have perfect eyesight, it may be a deal-breaker. I did a lot of research and still had a hard time deciding between several Citizen watches. This watch is spectacular. I searched for weeks for a solar-powered watch - I can't begin to say how sick I am of paying to replace batteries on my old watch. I wanted a watch that's somewhere between professional and casual, solar, subtle, bling-free (why do modern watches all have tacky sparkly stones all over them?), small (I have tiny wrists), durable, pretty, feminine but not overpowering, and easy to coordinate with basically everything I own short of dressy evening wear. Essentially, I wanted a decision-free watch that I can put on every morning without thinking twice about it, and have it work perfectly, match perfectly, and keep perfectly accurate time. This watch does all of those things, and I'm absolutely in love with it. The mother of pearl face is quite subtle, but it catches the light beautifully in flashes of delicate pinks and greens (reminds me of the northern lights). I had to remove all but one of the extra links to make it fit my small wrist, but it does fit. I've owned it for just over a month, worn it every day and so far it shows absolutely no signs of wear. The minute and hour hands glow in the dark - perk. Assuming the solar battery holds up as advertized, this watch is about as perfect as a watch can be for me. If anything goes amiss, I'll update my review accordingly. Edited to add: I wrote my original review on June 15, 2013 after about a month of ownership. It has now been almost two years, and I'd just like to add that this watch is everything that I had hoped it would be. I've worn it, quite literally, every single day since I bought it, and it shows virtually no signs of wear and tear. The crystal is in perfect condition, and I haven't exactly been gentle with it. The Eco-Drive has worked exactly as promised. I just came back to purchase a second Citizen Eco-Drive watch (smaller, for dressier occasions), and I can't imagine ever needing to try another brand again. ... show more

A very pretty watch, while still keeping clean lines, crisp style, and every day practicality. I took it to a jeweler to have a couple links removed from the band and he said that this is a good watch. He told me when I'm not wearing it, to keep it where it can still get light, so the capacitor works at it's best. I am very pleased with my purchase. Loving watches as I do, it was hard to resist the really expensive high end choices, but I didn't want to waste money on a cheap watch either, so this was a smart buy. ... show more
