  • Great deal, but a few modifications would make it better
Color: Silver
So first of all I have to say this bed is very sturdy so far. When I first went to step onto the top, being really psyched out by trusting my life to a few screwed together pieces of hollow metal - which I, with my frail noodle arms, screwed together MYSELF - I was initially VERY careful and tried to distribute my weight as much as I could. A few weeks later now, and I'm pretty confident centering my weight all on one foot (DISCLAIMER: I am a small 125lb woman with tall ceilings, ymmv). The desk area underneath is very nice as well, and the shelves are each individually weight rated for 50lbs, so you pretty much don't have to worry about putting too much stuff on them. Despite how sturdy the bed is, there is still plenty of wobbling because, as I mentioned, it is a few pieces of hollow metal screwed together. However, all in all, it's a great deal for what you get at the time of my purchase (~350USD). Having said that, there are a number of improvements that could be made that are really simple, but greatly increase the useablility of this bed. First: As others have mentioned, the ladder is pretty painful to use. If the small cylindrical rungs were flattened out, it would be much nicer. Before I got a pool noodle as others suggested, I figured out that stepping on it sideways with the full length of your foot helps if you need a temporary solution, but the pool noodle is still way better. Also: haven't seen this issue mentioned, but the ladder does not actually touch the ground fully, so when the bed shakes, the ladder goes CLANG CLANG CLANG against the laminate floors I have. I may just have the ladder screwed in too tight, but I just circumvented the issue using the leftover pool noodle as padding on the bottom. Secondly: Also as others have mentioned, there is no ladder entrance onto the bed, and you have to climb over the railings. I don't mind it too much personally as, like I mentioned, I have tall ceilings and it's a surprisingly good way to work hip flexibility, but I can definitely see it being a safety issue, especially for people with mobility problems. Ideally, the manufacturer would cut out four entrances on each end, and each side of the bed, because of my following point. Third: The bed assembly tries to lock you into a single arrangement. For most people, this wouldn't be an issue, but became a problem with my current room configuration. Essentially, the only wall I could place the the bed against has two outlets: on one side a normal outlet, and on the other side, one tied to a light switch, which ALSO houses the only lighting I have in the room and therefore actually need to use the light switch for. Guess which one the desk would be next to. So yeah, I swapped the two long bed rails so I could get the ladder holes on the other side of the desk and the whole bed flipped around. The effect of this is that the secondary support screws for the bookshelves have nowhere to screw in, since those holes are now by the desk. Overall it doesn't seem to have much of an effect on sturdiness since the shelves are placed on top of metal rails, instead of hanging from the bookshelf posts, so it's really more of a nitpick. But again, it would be a small change on the manufacturer to add ladder holes on all four corners to let people decide the orientation themselves. Fourthly, because the railings are arched, you can't put one of those loft bed trays on, so you basically have to install a shelf if you want a nightstand. I just want somewhere to place my water bottle man why's it gotta be so difficult. A tiny complaint, which I wouldn't REALLY recommend changing, but feel like complaining about anyway: the reason the bed is so sturdy is because of clamps that run down the center and across the mattress support bands, allowing for increased weight distribution. Trying to put those on is actually kind of dangerous. I understand why they're so tight, since it is for safety and everything, but my hands were covered in bandages by the time I was done because when those suckers snap on, they SNAP. ON. It surprisingly never broke the skin, but 3 weeks later I still have marks where they bit me. ... show more

  • Bad directions
Color: Silver
This bed had very difficult directions to follow, you need to pay attention to the directions of the holes and it does matter what side you are putting certain pieces on. We did end up drilling our own holes to move the ladder to the end. It would of been nice if there was the option to put the ladder in other places. Also the springs on the ladder are feet killers, will definitely need to find some kind of padding for those. The bed its self seems sturdy, we will be using wall anchors though as it does wobble back and forth a bit, but our floors are not even so that was expected. The box did arrive with one corner damaged and there was mice poop as well as a few other bugs inside, but....everything was well wrapped and protected so nothing was damaged in anyway. Once I saw mice poop i hauled it outside and continued to open it outside. It kinda grossed me out because it was sitting inside my house for a bit before i opened it so now I'm spraying my house to be safe. Over all my son likes this bed, I'd give 5 stars but....damaged corner and mice poop....so one less star. ... show more

  • This loft bed is a good deal!
Color: Silver
I was worried about this purchase because of a review that said the loft bed was wobbly. I did not have that issue. This thing is solid. I am impressed by how they reenforced the bed to make it so supported. It is very organized and the instruction are great. See the pic of how well organized the screws and tools were. I figured I would attach it to the wall, overprotective hard core, but it really doesnt need it. I am going to do it anyways but it isnt necessary. This is one of the best purchases I have made on amazon. Came early well packed, though I would have appreciated it in two packs. I could not lift it on my own, but I do have a bad shoulder (maybe int my prime). That is the only bad thing I could say, make it two boxes. Great product, great price! My daughter (9) helped put them together with me. It was fun. Cannot say enough about the product. ... show more

  • Seems sturdy, really cute
Color: Silver
I bought this loft bed for my daughter for her 14th birthday. She wanted a bed with a desk underneath. It's definitely great for the space. I gave it a four because I think the directions need to be clearer regarding which posts go together so the shelves and desks can be assembled, the ladder rungs are painful, and 2 sets of holes were misaligned. One shelf is not bolted down because the holes were so off. Otherwise seems like a good purchase. We also bought a purple chair and curtains to go with her decor amd hung them around the desks and shelves. We also put step covers on the ladder rungs which are painful. ... show more

  • Great for what we need, could use a few adjustments
Color: Silver
Seem to be pretty well made for the price. Needed to give my two kids their own space, but they still need to share a room. So we went from a bunk bed to two of these loft beds. I was planning on painting all the shelves for them since they are black and they wanted color. Unfortunately the material they are made from doesn’t allow for spray paint or latex paint to stick. Not a huge fan of the ladder set up. I don’t like that the ladder can only be placed in one spot on the beds. That space doesn’t work for either of the beds to have the ladder where it’s expected to go. we are going to have to modify the ladders so they have hooks and can be moved to different spots for getting in and out of the beds. Plus removed when not needed. The first bed took me a couple hours to install just because I had to consult the manual so often to make sure I was using the right screws. The second bed went together in less than an hour. My biggest suggestions for this company is to change the ladder design and to make all the screws the same size besides the ones that attach the shelves to the bed. Overall great purchase, kids are happy, and less arguing in our home! Would buy again ... show more
