  • Works Great! See Here for Instructions + Tips and Notes
Size: Full Color: Black Faux Leather
Originally I had a bed that went all the way to the floor - similar to this one but the difference was that I couldn't put anything under it. Upgraded to this one and now it's like I have an extra storage closet!! Love it. Already filled it to the brim too but it helped to clear out my actual storage closet to make room for other things. It's also a great place to store all of my bedding (pillows, blankets, sheets, etc). I was able to put this together in 1 hour and 3 minutes completely alone, but a second person would have definitely made things easier/faster. I've included the instructions (pictures) so you can see what to expect. The most difficult part to do by myself was to add the main frame that holds the bed onto the lifting arms (and get them screwed on). But I managed to do it in a matter of minutes anyway :) Other than that part, it was all pretty easy. Great, easy to follow instructions. A couple of tips/notes: - A single person can put this together but it'll definitely make things easier if you have another person there to help. - On step 5, I added the "N" brackets to the bed frame FIRST and then lifted the frame to add the "Z" legs - this was much easier than doing it the way they say to do it (which is to add the legs to the brackets first and THEN mount the whole thing onto the bed frame). Doing it this way also allowed me to do it on my own (instead of having someone else there just lifting the bed while I screwed the bracket/leg assembly on). - DON'T LOSE ANY OF THE SCREWS! This kit only comes with the EXACT number of nuts and bolts required, not a single extra nut or bolt is included so be sure you don't lose any. I recommend using a magnetic wrist band (made for holding nuts and bolts) if you have one. Or just keep every nut and bolt in the case until you're ready to use them. - If you wanted to, you could remove the large base boards (inside of the "container" area) to get a little bit more space. Of course then you might see things under the bed. Just an option if something is too tall to fit in there. - Use double-sided tape on a few of the wooden slats that the mattress sits on - this will prevent the mattress from sliding when you lift the compartment. The little metal brackets that are supposed to stop the bed from sliding were not working well for my 8" thick memory foam mattress. - Always wrap your mattress in an anti bed-bug cover! This will basically prevent you from ever getting bed bugs. They work amazingly well. - You do not need a box spring on this bed. It has slats that are meant to replace the box spring so just place your mattress directly on top. - Bed size is 79.5"L x 56.5"W x 42.5"H. Measure out a space for it before you order :) Other things worth noting: - The lift is VERY strong. It has no problem at all lifting this somewhat heavy/dense, full-size memory foam mattress. In fact, it's more difficult to pull the bed DOWN than it is to lift UP :D That means I can add all of my bedding and it still has no trouble lifting up. Of course when you put it down, it kind of locks into place (not really but it passes the point of resistance/lifting power) - so there's no chance of it just lifting on its own. - I paid $325 for this bed, which I thought was an ok deal - but then the price went way up. I don't think I would have bought it if it was more than $325. I thought even $325 was a little high.. Hope this is helpful to someone else out there! :) ... show more

  • A sophisticated piece for storage and small spaces
Size: Full Color: Gray Linen
This is a fantastic bed for a New Yorker in a small apartment. My closet is literally one foot wide so having the extra storage for out of season clothing, extra bedding and luggage really saves my life. You could put those things under a normal bed in a normal bedroom, but this completely prevents having to lug out under bed bins and also not having tons of space on either side to do so. The depth is about a foot. I do have one very large suitcase that won't fit underneath, but all my carry on luggage fits below. I have four large rolling underbed storage boxes inside, two carry on sized suitcases (filled with other travel paraphernalia and duffes, tote bags etc, my laptop bag, extra towels, 3 sheets sets with pillowcases and random small items that I just don't need to have out but cant part with. I'm 5'6" and have no issues lifting the bed up to access the storage or putting it back down, although I do have to reach and give a hard push down. It might be difficult for someone very short or without a lot of strength. There is a pull strap at the foot of the frame to assist with this if you can't reach the top but I feel like it's a lot harder to pull down that way. Assembly was not super easy. We made a few missteps and had to retrace our steps to get it right. I'm probably not going to enjoy moving this when the time comes either, but that's not in the near future and since I got the full size, I would imagine I might be able to move it intact. There is a gridlike support base inside of the storage area - so the bed isn't open to the floor. You would have to be careful to put smaller heavier objects onto the support base and not in the space in between, though there is a thin fabric covered liner that goes on top of the base... it just didn't feel incredibly strong to me. I am using this with a memory foam mattress and no box spring. I understand that this bed can be used with both, but personally, I think it would look weird and cover up a large portion of the headboard. There is a full sprung wood base that's part of the bed, so I think most mattresses could be used on this without a box spring. My memory foam seemed much more comfortable and seemed to have more give after taking it off of the old box spring I was using previously. I paid around $275 for this bed on Amazon. It's the same bed you can find on Ostock although it's listed as a different manufacturer on their website. When I was shopping around for a new bed, they had it listed for almost $100 more on their website. One caveat - I was missing pieces important for Step 2 when I initially received the bed. However, DHP had the parts sent out to me fairly quickly, but required a lot of documentation to get them. Still. Worth it. I love this bed. ... show more

  • Sturdy platform bed for the money
Size: Queen Color: Grey Linen
After shopping for a platform bed with underneath storage we decided on this one. We weren’t disappointed. It seems very strong, well designed and not at all cheap looking. The parts fit together well, but the instructions are not as clear as they could be. The drawings are excellent but it’s not always clear which end of the bed frame you’re looking at, or whether it might be a bottom or top view. This caused us a few do-overs during the assembly process. We ended up putting most of the thing together loosely before tightening all the screws and bolts. The bed came with an Allen wrench to put it together. You’ll need something more substantial or it will take you forever. Fortunately, the machine screws are not Phillips head screws but are Robertson screws or “square drive” or “socket head” screws. It would be hard, but maybe not impossible for one person to put the bed together. It comes in two boxes and once assembled the entire platform is pretty heavy and is not moveable as one piece. So assemble it where you intend it to reside. To move it in the future will require a substantial disassembly. There is more storage available underneath the raised mattress than we expected. Your underneath storage stuff does not just lay on your floor under the bed. The bed has it’s own internal flooring that keeps your stuff up off your bedroom floor. We put a 14 inch thick foam mattress on it and the top surface of the mattress is about 27 inches above the floor which should be fine for most people. However, if you require a higher bed surface, the directions say it cannot be placed on risers. ... show more
