As others have stated, this isn't a job for 1 person, especially on a large door like my 16' door, but with the help of my brother, the job went pretty smoothly. The reason for only 4 stars is that the picture shown is not what you get. Because the seal is rolled up in the shipping box, the round section in the middle of the seal is flattened. The included picture is of an excess piece that I cut off. After 2 and a half weeks sitting on my work bench, you can see that it still hasn't returned to its pictured rounded shape, so it will never get round while being pressed against the garage floor. That said, since I installed the seal, we've had a couple of really severe storms but no water in the garage. So far it's doing its job. ... show more

Review date: August, 20, 2023 - Other reviews mentioned things such as this being a flimsy product and easy to rip or tear it even by hand, and about it being difficult to install. I found neither of those things to be true with the product I received. It was exactly as advertised and pictured. The rubber is heavy duty, supple, easy to work with, and feels durable for the long term. I tried to tear it by hand (as shown in one review with a video) and I couldn't begin to tear it. The quality seems plenty good to last for many years, even here in Wisconsin where we have temperatures as high as 100F above zero in the summer to as low as 35F below zero in the winter. Still other reviewers mentioned that it was difficult to install and that they had a lot of problems. I ordered a 20-foot piece of this product to use on a pair of 9-foot-wide garage doors. I pulled out the old door seals which had seen many, many better days and were in terrible shape, brittle, broken, flattened, missing big chunks, and being at least 25 years old, origin unknown. I then used a broom to sweep the dirt and cobwebs off the bottom of the doors that had been hidden under the old seals. Then, I lubed the T-slots that this product slides into, all the way across the door using a product I had on hand called Fluid Film spray (great, useful product in its own right and available here on Amazon). I was able to replace the seals on both doors in about 30 minutes by myself, including gathering materials before and cleanup after. With one hand, I formed the new seal into a cup-shape (it ships flat and rolled up) and fed it into the door seal mounting slots, and with the other hand I pushed it along the bottom of the door until it reached the other side. I did it all while standing in one spot at one end of the door, and did not utter one cuss word the whole time. Then I used a good shop scissors I have to cut off at the proper length. Easy-peasy! The process of feeding the new seal through the slots took less than five minutes per door. Because of some of the reviews that said installation could be a headache and took them a long, frustrating time, I almost didn't do it today because it was a bit hot outside and I didn't want to get into problems in the heat. But on the spur of the moment this morning I decided to do the installation and it went great. I couldn't have asked for better if I had designed the garage doors and the seal myself. If I notice any undue or early wear on this product that shouldn't be happening I will come back to update this review, but thus far I'm very happy with the product, the installation and how much better the new seals look from both inside and outside of the garage. Much less light comes through compared to the old, worn-out seals, which means more of old man winter will stay outside where he belongs, and we heat our garage to about 60F in the winter, so that is a good thing. TL/DR : Great product. Heavy-duty, easy to work with, easy install went great, and I'm a happy customer. ... show more

While this seems to be working perfectly and looks really good on my garage door, I have to say that the installation, when trying to do it by yourself, isn’t the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I didn’t have anyone available to help. I cleaned the slots in the door and lubricated them before trying to do the installation. Still, it was a process where once every four or 5 inches or so, I had to go to the other end of the door to pull on the end of the seal. And not pull it too far, otherwise the area being fed into the track it would come out. Then small tears would appear in it making it more difficult to feed in. So it was, push a couple of inches in, walk to other side, pull, over and over. Took about 90 minutes for a 16 ft door. Not horrible but not great. Then I had to adjust the limits on my opener. That took another 30 minutes to get right. I’m happy with the result. ... show more

It would seem this is made of silicone or the like. Seems like a good product. However, installation is a bit cumbersome since it has to be slid on from end of the track to the other. Must use soap and water for lubrication. Two man job, one to guide on one end, and the other to pull it on down. The silicone rips easily so be careful!! ... show more

    • 16 ft door took just under 10 minutes!

After reading the Amazon reviews, watching 2 You Tube videos, installing this on a 16 foot garage door took just under 10 minutes, and that includes opening the package! I’m going to try to post the security cam footage, so you can see, it was awesome! We: removed a screw at each end (which we knew to look for thx to a heads up from a You Tube video), slid out the old strip (the last T pieces were in the track tight, so no cleaning/debris/Dawn/scrub/etc), lubed both tracks with Fluid Film (thx to Amazon reviewer), 1st man fed the new strip in, 2nd man pulled it across at matched speed (no tears, no rips), razor cut off both ends, put the end screws back in & done! I still can’t believe how fast & easy it was! We planned ~ 20 min (they were “for hire” men, so we had to sorta plan out time/task on my list, in advance, with their agency, both in their late 20s), but they got it done much faster than that! Do your homework, set it up & knock it down. Absolute cake! We just did it yesterday, so I can't yet comment on durability, etc. ... show more

Nothing wrong with the product but plan to spend 3 to 4 hours installing and a lot of hard work. This is not a 1-person job you need at minimum 2 -3 people to help. It's slow and arduous. Be sure and use lithium grease or you can also use liquid soap as a lubricant.

Purchased two due to my error.... Don't cut it! Wait about a week and it will shrink back to the correct length. This install involved 2 adults and two teenagers and truly sucks. This is a project I never want to do again and if I do, I better be drunk. The first time I wiped the track and slid it down with the help of everyone in my home. It wasn't fun and a month later water was getting in the garage. Then I noticed it shrunk and tore. Bummer... So I ordered it again and sprayed some liquid soap. Don't do it, my God dont do it! After 30 min you'll want to do it but don't! It will fall out of the track as you pull. You were warned! Anyways, once it's up don't cut it and in about a week it will be perfect and no leaks. ... show more
