I love this thing. It's been great for working in tight spaces on my camper and my truck. The flex drive lets you get to screws and bolts that would be nearly impossible to reach with any sort of normal wrench or even a screwdriver. The female 1/4 hex lets you attach screw driver bits, drills, or socket adapters easily and it gives you the flexibility to keep the stick-out of the driver bit short. The versions with the 3/8 socket adapter limit you to attaching sockets or using less common driver adapters, so I prefer this version. Haven't used all the pieces yet but, definitely helps in tight and awkward spots. The bits fit snugly in it. One of the dewalt items my lead tech approves of and, I can jokingly rub back in his face bc he's a Milwaukee guy. (I'm a rookie and probably will make that jump later on.)

This is a must have for anyone who has a drill. The fact that you can switch out the head and make it longer of shorter is a game changer for me. There are times where I need to have a longer shaft and this allows me to change it out. The quality is amazing even when I use it with my impact drill.

    • Great quality and highly versatile
I was impressed with how beefy this thing is but I ran into a couple issues that Amazon immediately corrected. First, there seems to be some kind of binding in the gearing on the 90 degree drive that I tried to work out with oil and running it in at high speed with my impact. I thought the gears needed to be seated but that didn't work. There's still a binding that I was unable to fix. Second, when I was using it, the snap ring retaining on the 90 degree that holds the hex adapter bit (one you use for whatever fastener you are affixing) popped off. I could reinstall it but between the binding and the retainer, Amazon is sending a replacement. Otherwise, very impressive quality. Like others, I wished Dewalt would have figured out how to let me remove the plastic handle on the flexible shaft so I could use the shaft to get into tight spaces. ... show more

    • This is one bad a** heavy duty accessory that fits on my Ridgid (or any 1/4" hex drive) impact !!!
Heavy duty. Typical marketing hype says flex attachment is 12", and it is end to end, but when you insert it you lose 1", so when in fact it's inserted, it actually extends your working length 11". That's important to someone looking at total extensibility / reach. Now the head is designed to mount up to the flex extension directly and lock into place. This extends your working bit out to about 13" at 90°. Both head and flex attachment are magnetized, so you could use the flex extension as a direct extension of your impact or drill, whichever you're using. DeWalt say's it's only to be used with impact power tools, but we all know they're just covering their butt legally and some folks use these attachments in power drills as well as ...God only knows what creative types will come up with. There are two handle attachments included. The 4" with the head mounted to it puts your bit out 5" from the impact tool. It also gives you a nice 4" 4 finger grip to hold it. As well, this setup can be inserted into the flex attachment on the quick if you need to extend it for 1 or 2 items real quick. The second handle in the pic is misleading as it actually has a plastic mount attached to it so you can attach the handle to the back of the head and lock it on. It can not be used with any other attachment. When you insert the head into your impact directly, it gives you the ability to hold the head in place from twisting if your using a socket or bit on something that requires an excessive amount of force, pressure, or torque, or to keep it stable drilling into whatever. The handle itself is threaded and removable so you can screw it into the other side of the handle-head-mount for you lefties, or if you need to invert the bit to work upside down or in an odd position. _My ONE COMPLAINT! -- ARE YOU READING THIS DEWALT ENGINEERS?!? The little strait handle must be unscrewed 1/8" from the mount in order to fasten it to the head, then screwed back in. The head is not perfectly round and it seems the engineers overlooked this. The nub the strait handle screws into is too short to fit the handle at the point it goes on before you turn it to lock it onto the head! Both sides engineers! _DeWalt ENGINEERS need to take this small handle-mount part back to the drawing board. Otherwise a fine accessory. BTW, the head is 1" wide and adds 1.5" to your inserted bit length. The actual horizontal head width is 1.25" fwiw. The flex extension is stout and holds it's position without sagging while your busy doing other stuff. It will be in the same position when you come back to it. Mount the head on it and push the yellow button under the word DeWalt on the side of the flex accessory handle, slide it forward and attach it to the head. Now you have the same 4 finger grip at the end of the flex accessory as you did with the other handle! Like my title says, "This is one bad a** heavy duty accessory that fits my Ridgid (or any 1/4" hex drive) impact !!! " This 4-in-1 is built with commercial grade materials and the professional in mind, but made for all who want it. I only wish I had gotten one years ago! Enjoy... ... show more

Worked well. Didn't think I needed the flexible shaft but it turned out to be the best arrangement for my situation. The modular design helps solve unique clearance situations. Good product!
