Description

Double parallel link arm design dramatically reduces vibration and noise, for extremely accurate cuts. Exclusive tool-free blade clamps, On-off switch, electronic variable speed, flexible dust blower and blade-tensioning lever are all located on the front upper arm. Arm design pivots from the back of the saw to the front and lifts so blade can be easily threaded through the material for inside cuts. Unique arm design keeps the blade perpendicular to the work. Oversized, cast-iron table provides excellent material support and bevels 45 degrees left and right. Specs: Motor 1.3 amp rating, 120V AC. 400-1,750 cutting strokes per minute. Table size 16" x 23-3/4". Weighs 56 lbs. Meets OSHA standards, CSA approved and U.L. Listed. Featured length of the flexible shaft is approximately 22 inches long

  • Very good saw
Style: Scroll saw
To bad they used usps as the first one didn’t arrive and took a month for the replacement. No fault of Amazon they were very good to work with. Love the saw.

  • Best Scroll made!
Style: Scroll saw
I've been using a DeWalt scroll saw for over 30 years. I run my saw approximately 7 hours a day (commercial operation). This is my third DeWalt scroll saw. I've used every brand of scroll saw (except the cheapie models) and would not trade my DeWalt for the $2000 dollar units! (unless I could sell the $2000 one, buy another Dewalt and pocket the difference!) I'll be setting up a satellite operation next month and will be buying two more DeWalt's. ... show more

  • Actually 4.5 stars
Style: Scroll saw
Since you can't give a 4.5 I had to give it a 4 star rating. The reason is not in the performance of the saw, but in some of it's features. My previous saw was a Delta 40-694. It lasted better than 6 years. The Delta had a built in upper arm holder, the Dewalt does not. You can buy an aftermarket ad-on to accomplish the same thing, but it is about $35. I just use a piece of 2x4 to prop under the upper arm to allow room to insert the blade through the hole in you work medium. The other feature is the difference between the top and bottom arm. On the Dewalt the blade fits with no extra blade exposed above or below the blade clamps. The Delta had close to 3/4 inch extra blade showing above the blade clamp. With the Delta you just moved the blade down and you have fresh teeth, basically getting 2 blades for the price of one. Blades are inexpensive - $3.50 for a pack of 12. Still getting twice the use adds up over time. You can get the same use on the Dewalt, but you have to make a spacer to raise your medium up on the blade instead of just lowering the blade like on the Delta. I used some scrap 3/4 inch OSB I had and put a 1/8 inch piece of hardboard on top of that for a smooth surface. One thing neither saw has is a way to collect the sawdust that falls thorough the blade hole in the table. Make a 3 sided box (no lid) and place it under the lower blade mount to catch most of the dust. I have included pictures to show what I am talking about. ... show more

  • Best birthday present I ever bought for myself !!! Easiest blade change ever!
Style: Scroll saw
I waited a while before writing this review to be sure I got good at using this scroll saw. Well, there's not much to learn at all. I have used several other less expensive saws in my time, but WOW is this worth the price! The tension knob has numbers on it so you can get the tension the same each time with each different blade. No guessing where to turn a knob. The blades ARE very easy to put in! Blade changing has always been a pain with other saws so I don't know why this is so easy. I barely tighten the knob (wimpy girl) (no wrench needed) and the blade is in. Maybe there is something inside the blade holder that is different and holds blades in place better than the others without the excessive tightening. The blower actually works and having a long, bendable arm, you can position it where you want. The lower blade guard was in the way so I took it off. I always turn off the power strip when I change blades so I feel safe doing this although it is certainly "not recommended". The upper arm can be raised to make it easier to insert the top part of the blade into your project for inside cuts. I cut a piece of wood to hold the arm up when I do this. Yes, Dewalt has been informed of this oversight and may put something on the arm next time to hold it up. The best accessory for this? That foot pedal. No more trying to hold my wood with one hand while the blade is going, and reach up or down to turn the machine off ! When I need a break, the phone rings, or a neighbor drops by, I take my foot off the pedal and it comes to a "dead stop" just as advertised. Great one on Amazon for about $22. Magnifying light is terrific to have too. Most scroll saw web sites tell newbees not to use the spiral blades and I don't know why. I am not a newbee, but I'm not a professional either. I make basic craft things, and do not make the intricate fret work. The "New Spiral Blades" by Flying Dutchman, (# 5's) go through my pine wood like butter and there is no need to keep turning the wood either. I am not real good at making small turns with the regular blades. With a blade that's twisted and can go in any direction, I have no trouble getting into tight areas. These blades have flat ends too, which make them real easy to install. (This saw takes only flat ended blades, no pin blades) Amazon...please look into carrying these Flying Dutchman "New Spiral Blades" soon so we don't have to search for them! Lastly, this machine runs so quietly, compared to the others, you hardly know it's on. As you can tell, I am so very jazzed that I finally got this Dewalt. ... show more

  • Good enough that WOODCRAFTERs used it as a training tool
Style: Scroll saw
This is a replacement for my older scroll saw that failed. I had taken a scroll saw course at WOODCRAFTERS and this was the saw they used for the training course. It is very quiet, vibration is minimal and blade changing is sooo much easier than my first saw with quick change adjustments to both top and bottom blade holders.. For the serious sawdust maker it is a fine investment. The 5 star rating is confirmed by multiple sights. The only negative side is there isn't any dust collection port. I do have dust collection system and I slide a 2 1/2" hose to the underside of the table and slide it onto/over the table tilt locking knob solving abt 85% of my sawdust collection. ... show more

  • I use it more than I thought I would
Style: Scroll saw
Being a guy that likes to make stuff with wood, I thought a scroll saw would be a fun new tool to try. I researched a lot of scroll saws before deciding on the Dewalt. This model I felt was perfect size and features for someone that never used a scroll saw before. And the price at the time was perfect. (They have become quite expensive now). Anyway, it is very simple to use, you do have to buy blades. I find myself using it on a lot of projects. It’s a little tricky to install the blade, and having a bright light makes cuts better. I really enjoy this saw. ... show more
