  • Great beginner saw
I bought this saw in Jan 2012 so that I could build a few projects around the house. This is my first power saw I purchased and one of my first expensive "power tools" I have owned. I am SO glad I purchased this saw and wish I had owned it sooner! I did a lot of research and this saw was by far the best deal for the quality you get at this price. You can find some cheaper saws with more features for almost half the price, but many reviews on all these models offered mixed reviews. Everywhere I read that Dewalt offers excellent quality in their saws. I would say this saw is great for any home owner looking to start building their power tool collection. Since I have bought this saw I have completed a number of small projects around the home. This saw is the best investment I have put in a power tool. The collection bag in the back works well enough. It does not collect all the dust, but after a full days use the bag is completely full, so it does work. I have no complaints for the saw only that I wish the blade could have been 12" instead of 10", although I have been able to cut everything I have thrown at it so far. The blade that shipped with the saw is also surprisingly good. I also purchased a Oshlun LG-M01 Miter and Portable Saw Laser Guide for the blade which attached easily and worked as advertised. I would recommend this saw for anyone! ... show more

  • Best Compound Miter Saw out there!
This is an excellent compound miter saw, expensive but the best I've ever used and will last forever. Solid in movement and accurate in its angle cuts once you have done your own calibration with the indicators, which is very easy to do....just follow the included instructions. With the blade spinning at about 5,000 RPM, it makes terrifically fast and smooth cuts. I made a couple of modifications to it to suit my needs; instead of bolting it to my bench, I used four white rubber feet (Home Depot) that not only allows me to move the saw wherever and whenever I want, but they also keep the saw from moving around while cutting. Also, I tossed the useless dust bag and made a simple connection for my shop vac by using a flexible rubber 1-1/4 inch coupling and a 1-1/4 inch elbow. This also allows me to set the location of the miter saw deeper into my bench, not sticking out so far that the dust bag will force you to do. See my attached pics. I love this saw and highly recommend it if you truly want smooth and accurate cuts. ... show more

  • Simple, light & solid
I am a professional handi-man that does a lot of trim & hardwood flooring. I have a beautiful Milwaukee slider for "high end/big work" but needed something more portable. This unit has all the features anyone could want - and they're solidly made. This saw is not a fancy unit with a lot of little frills that add cost & tend to brake easily. For about $200 you're getting a well made, solid saw that will hold up for years. It is very user friendly which would be helpful to the less experienced user. It is relatively light weight, easy to carry and job-site rugged. As most carpenters would do, I checked all cuts for accuracy when I got the unit - everything was perfect. Any saw will go out of adjustment with heavy use - that's why they have adjustment screws. But I've used this thing heavily for almost a year & its still 100%> If you get this saw, you may want to consider the heavy-duty stand that is designed for it. Its very well made, light, stable & with extension arms that allow you to handle long trim with ease. ... show more

  • My largest disappointment it that the saw did not come with a ...
I use the saw primarily to cut numerous segments for bowl turning. The saw is fairly quiet and stops fairly quickly after each cut. It is angle accurate. I have it connected to my shop vacuum, but it doesn't pick up the sawdust as well as it should. My largest disappointment it that the saw did not come with a holding clamp for the right side of the cut. It should have for what I paid. The price they wanted to purchase this accessary I think is ridiculous, so I solved it for my purpose by drilling a couple screw holes through the metal gate to attach wood I can clamp to. All in all, I am happy with the saw's performance, but a lot is due to the high quality blade I installed. ... show more

  • good value for the price
I have a small hobby woodworking shop and have been wanting a compound miter saw for years. Finally decided to buy one before winter sets in and I am back in the shop a lot. I reviewed many brands and models and decided to go with this one as the price was reasonable and the reviews were very good. I also looked at this saw in the local lumber yards and was impressed with how well it was made, etc. The saw arrived and I set it up in the shop and checked everything out and it was dead on calibration. Its very easy to set up and didnt have any problems. Cut a few pieces and it meets and exceeds my expectations. I am confident this saw will do everything I ask of it and probably more as well. As I said, the calibration was dead on out of the box, the controls are easy to understand and use, and its plenty sturdy for my needs. Yes, I would recommend it at least for the type of work I intend for it. I have several clock case projects lined up for when the snow flies here and this saw is going to be a pleasure to use and work with. ... show more

  • I'm no carpenter, but this saw rocks
I did a lot of on-line shopping for a miter saw, read the forums on the American Woodworker site, etc. Finally decided on the DeWalt 10". The one point that kept bugging me was the lack of a laser, since it seems like every other brand has them. Then I read about issues with alignment, and decided to go with the DeWalt and the LED light add-on. Works great. You get a clear line where the blade cuts, including the width of the cut. Great design. First thing I did was put a square on it to make sure the 0 was right, and it was dead-on. Both 45's are on, also. Haven't gotton to play with the bevel much yet, but it works easy enough. Table is nice and flat, whole thing is very solidly built. Carry handle is a nice touch, much easier to carry around. Another point- the standard 40T blade they give you with the saw makes some really nice, clean cuts. I had planned on getting a fine-cut blade for doing my 1/2 round trim, but so far, the 40T is working perfectly. ... show more

  • Great Compound miter saw for woodworking!
I have given this saw I bought on Amazon, 5 stars because it is great! I am a beginner DIYer that likes to buy quality tools that will last me a looong time. I had bought a ryb with laser and sliding but I noticed the cheap quality. Stickers are used to tell you what angle you are in when mitering and doing bevel cuts. I debated greatly whether to return the ryb or keep it. My friend who is a pretty good carpenter told me to return it and get a Dwt. I debated whether to get the 10 or 12 inch. I am building a closet and am cutting a lot of 1x12s. I have no table saw yet. I went for the 10 inch because its lighter, cheaper blades, and more compact and the 12 inch cuts 8 inches while the 10 inch cuts 6 inches,(still would've had to flip it over) and so far its been great! Yes, I have to cut one side then flip it and sometimes the cut isn't perfect but for the work I'm doing its fine. Cuts everything, base caps, 3 1/4 stool and window trim, like a knife cutting through butter. The stock blade cuts very smooth if you lower it slowly and let it cut clean. It was right on, all the 45s angles. bevel, and miter. Haven't checked other angles but to me that's fine for now. Also, it is a type "2" or "3" and the box does not say you can add the light or laser. Which to me, it doesn't matter because I lower the blade to see where the cut is going to be and then when I start the saw I lower it slowly to make sure its on the mark. The Pros: Solidly built, reasonable price, right on with the 45s angles, good stock blade (prob will upgrade to 40 or 50 tooth blade), its pretty compact and light weight, The Cons: No work clamp, extension bars, and the saw dust bag does catch some saw dust but a lot of it just flies all over the saw. Overall, great saw for the DIYer, at any level of experience and knowledge. I have a ryb miter saw stand that I kept after returning the ryb cms and it's great. I'll update later if anything happens. So choose, this saw only when you know its the saw for the job you'll be doing. Do a lot of research and know your budget. ... show more

  • Great product and customer service
I am just starting out with woodworking and haven't used a miter saw before. I just needed to adjust the pointer on the detent plate so it pointed at 0 degrees when the angle was set to the same. I did this as described on the manual and everything else was perfect. The saw came with a 32T blade and the first cuts I made were cross cuts of some 4x4s. The saw made the cuts accurately and effortlessly. The surfaces were smooth with minimal tear-out at the ends. I may end up upgrading to a 40 or 60 tooth cross-cutting blade at some point. There was an issue with the Prime shipment, but Amazon stepped up and extended my prime membership by a month and express shipped a replacement that arrived the next day. Love the customer service and very satisfied with the product. ... show more
