Shown in the first few couple pictures are a comparison of 12V Brushless vs 20V XR variants and their relative sizes. PROS: - The 20V impact driver is nearly the same size as my 12V impact driver. And has a ton more torque than the 12V version which is awesome! - The hammer drill driver has power for days as well. - Metal chuck on the hammer drill driver. - Extremely long battery life. - Rotatable light on the hammer drill driver which is slightly gimmicky, but still useful and quite bright. - Although not scientific, the charger seems to be much more solid than any of my other dual 12V/20V chargers. This one is heavier to be certain but I am not certain why. - Speed/function settings on both drills. - A few other little features you don't notice right off the bat. There is no doubt that these are at least a couple classes above Ryobi and certain other band's top products. I have never owned anything in the XR lineup due to not really needing it around the house. But they are impressive. These really are for professionals or people with a lot of disposable income I guess. I wouldn't even have enough projects in a given day to wear one, let alone both of these 4Ah batteries out. So for me, battery life is amazing. CONS: - The 20V hammer drill driver is considerably larger than my 12V drill driver which is a shame because the impacts of both voltages are so close to the same size as I mentioned in the pros section. This is probably because it is a hammer drill. It would have been great if it was a regular drill making it more compact. But I understand people are moving away from them quite a bit these days so the "hammer" feature gives it a bit more usefulness. I would have thought there'd be a a screw in handle if you planned to use the hammer feature, but there wasn't. - I am really disappointed with the footprint of the 4Ah batteries, they are quite large. I have some 12V 6Ah batteries that are in the same footprint as their 2Ah counterpart, just taller. I would have thought that would also be the case with the 20V versions. But the XR's are larger than standard DeWalt 20V batteries as well. Also shown in the last picture, their footprint nearly rivals that of Ryobi batteries in both length and width (shown on the right is a 6Ah Ryobi battery). I really don't like this. It takes what are generally small drills and significantly shifts the balance towards the bottom more so than I would like. Larger batteries always do this, but these do so more than others while taking up more space in your work surroundings. It is definitely not aimed at DIY'ers which is the class I would fit in. Making these less of a bargain for someone like myself. I certainly don't know anyone I would get these for as a gift or something of the like. For the price, the variety is a wash for me. There could be more tools or batteries, but these are also XR models which are higher quality and well above my needs. So yeh, a wash... Overall, this is a spectacular kit though. You can't go wrong with the quality and features. But of course you do pay for it which is to be expected.

So I got the combo kit a few weeks ago and lemme tell you, this thing is a beast. I’ve used plenty of drills and drivers over the years but this kit just hits different. First off, the power is insane. I was driving 4 inch screws into some old hardwood and the impact driver didn’t even flinch. No bogging down, no weird noises, just straight power. The hammer drill? It chewed through concrete like it was drywall. I’m not even exaggerating. I’m not a contractor or anything, just a guy who likes fixing stuff around the house and pretending I know what I’m doing. But after using this kit for a few weeks, I legit feel like I could build a shed blindfolded. (Not gonna try that tho lol.) The batteries are also a game changer. Those 4ah POWERPACK ones last forever. I did a full day of work, drilling, driving, mixing some thinset, and still had juice left. Usually I’m swapping batteries halfway through the day but not with these. They charge fast too, like under an hour from dead to full. I don’t know what DEWALT did with these XR cells but they nailed it. the impact driver. This thing is a monster. I used it to put together a new deck chair set and it just zipped through everything like it was made of cardboard. Screws went in clean, no stripping, no weird kickback. It’s got this nice weight to it—not too heavy but feels solid, like it’s not gonna fall apart if you drop it (which I did once... ok twice). The grip is comfy even when your hands get sweaty, and the LED light is actually useful, not just a gimmick. I used it under the sink and it lit up the whole area like a mini flashlight. The hammer drill is also a beast. I drilled into brick for some outdoor lights and it didn’t even flinch. It’s got this satisfying hum when it’s working hard, like it’s saying “yeah I got this.” The variable speed trigger is super responsive, and the clutch settings are easy to switch even with gloves on. I’ve used cheaper drills before that feel like they’re gonna explode when you push them too hard—this one just keeps going. Also it looks cool. Not that that matters but... it kinda does. Now the batteries. Man, those 4Ah XR Powerpacks are no joke. I charged them once and used both tools for like 3 projects before they even hit halfway. I was expecting to swap them out mid-job but nope, they just kept going. The charger is quiet and fast, and it doesn’t take up a ton of space on the workbench. I kinda wish it had a USB port or something but that’s just me being picky. Overall, this kit is kinda amazing. It’s like DEWALT took all the stuff people complain about and just fixed it. Everything feels premium, works like a charm, and makes you feel like you know what you’re doing even if you’re just winging it. I’ve already used it for furniture builds, wall mounts, outdoor lighting, and even fixed my neighbor’s fence. He was impressed. I was impressed. We were all impressed. Also gotta say the ergonomics are solid. Both tools feel balanced even with the bigger batteries. The grip is comfy, not too rubbery or stiff, and the trigger response is smooth. I’ve had tools where the trigger feels like a light switch but these are way more refined. The LED lights are bright and actually useful, not just a gimmick. Helped me out big time when I was working under a sink with no lighting. Overall, this kit’s been a total win. If you’re on the fence, just get it. I’ve already recommended it to two buddies and they’re loving it too. DEWALT really stepped it up with this one.
