  • Nice Laser - High visibility lines
Size: Cross Line Laser, Green
Solid laser. Auto level is quick and accurate. The line is sharp and visible even at daylight unlike a red laser. Being powered by a 12v battery gives great portability and battery lasts a whole day's use. As a bonus comes in a T-Stack case with an adjustable base and acessories. Very happy with it.

  • Great laser package at a reasonable price Great laser package at a reasonable price
After years of doing interior and exterior projects with bubble levels and mason lines, I finally wised up, researched, and bought one. Reasonably priced compared to rotating lasers. Was spending too much time the old fashioned way with plumb/level in a bathroom gut for a house built in 1900. Also used it to check grade slope on another house with drainage issues. So it has already paid for itself in time saved and accuracy performed, all the day after getting it in the mail. Look forward to other remodels, grading projects, tiling, fencing, etc. on my punch lists. For those beyond the once-in-while DIYer and up to small commercial work, I would recommend this DW088LR, and definitely over the cheaper DW088K. They are both red laser and pulse. But the biggest difference is the pendulum lock. When turned off, it locks in place so as to not bounce around. The DW088LR also comes with bracket, card, glasses, and is compatible with 12V Dewalt rechargeable battery cartridge (unfortunately only a few low-power tools use these, so your 18V or 24V cordless tool batteries won't interchange). The 4AA battery cartridge so far was sufficient for all day use, maybe because I turned it off for periods of cutting, figuring, etc. The hard carrying case is perfect, also holds the DW0892 Laser Detector with bracket I purchased separately for exterior work (there's still room for a charger if I choose to later buy the 12V battery). I also bought a non-Dewalt grade rod for a better price, just make sure it has both markings in 12inches/ft and tenths/ft so as not to limit yourself. I didn't want to pay the green laser price, and so far using red closer to dusk worked visually outside. I played with it in bright sunlight where neither green or red would be seen, and with the laser detector it worked as designed. In terms of laser projection, the angles above/to the side of point of origin are as good as you'll get without a rotating laser, but the unit rotates on the bracket anyway when needed. The pendulum, if shaken, quickly returns to plumb/level. The thickness of the red line is concise enough for close work and thick enough to see far away. I consider this a pro-grade tool with a DIYer price. ... show more

  • Great laser for many tasks.
Size: Cross Line Laser, Green
I have only used it a couple of times and it seems to work really well. I got it because it runs on the battery packs and not just batteries and I really like that feature. The green lines are very bright and my only issue has been how high the beam tracks upward. We work in elevator shafts and they aren’t very big but I expected this and could have got a laser that revoked and it would have worked better. I’ll probably just attach it up the shaft way higher to help visibility. Overall I would recommend to anyone looking for a laser. They are super convenient and accurate. It also comes in a nice tstak case. Just take the plunge and buy it if you are wanting a good laser. I end up using it all the time. ... show more

  • It can't do everything, but it's a great tool
Size: Cross Line Laser, Green
I had a project coming up that involved wainscoting and chair rail around an attic room about 35 feet by 25 feet, so I checked into laser levels and read reviews, finally settling on this one. It did a great job, the green line was very bright and easy to see. Unfortunately, there was no user manual included with my item, but I was able to go online and learn the process for checking accuracy- I found it was within 1/16" at 35', pretty good. This made my job so much easier, I didn't realize how helpful it would be until I set it up the first time; the floors were out of level by nearly an inch, the point where the angled ceilings met the walls varied by an inch and a half, and many of the walls were out of plumb, some by half an inch over four feet! Enter the laser level- here's a reference point to bring method to the craziness, the job turned out great and without frustration. Now that I've used it a bit I have some advice to prospective purchasers: this is an excellent cross line self-leveling laser, but it can't do all things well. If you need to position a handrail on a staircase you want to be able to tilt the line parallel to the stairs, this laser will blink rapidly to let you know it's not level- an annoying state of affairs if you want an angled reference line. The laser window is angled such that it puts a good line around the walls and up the ceiling, much less so on the floor- if you're looking for a laser to help with tiling floors, you might choose something different. If you want to transfer a point on the floor to the ceiling, there are dot lasers better suited for the job, although you can make do with this. As an all around useful tool, this is very good, especially because it is so accurate and easy to use. I like that you can individually select the vertical or horizontal line. I like that there is a rechargeable battery with a battery life indicator. I like that there is a mechanical lock on the pendulum, and that by using it there is less chance of getting out of calibration. Unfortunately, the pendulum lock is also a master power off switch. I considered the conical 360 degree laser version, but chose this one because of the lower price and more compact size. I opted for the green laser because I'll probably be trying to use it outdoors occasionally (not in bright sunlight) and this is much easier to see than the red color. Bottom line for me is that I now have an easy and accurate level and plumb reference line whenever I need one, so I'm happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Great for indoor, good for short-range outdoor use.
I knew when I bought it that the green laser was supposed to be better for outdoor use but it was also $150 more. Granted it did come with a 12 volt lithium battery and charger where this one comes with an adapter for double A's. But I already had 12 volt batteries from my other DeWalt tools that I used on it. some of the reviews have said battery life with a double A's was about 3 hours. I don't know I only used it for about 5 minutes just to see how it work that night. On a 12 volt lithium battery I got about 10 hours have used and it showed a half battery left. I was pretty impressed at that part. I used it for an outdoor project, leveling ground for a 15 by 30 foot concrete pad. Outdoors in full sun 20 foot the laser starts getting hard to see, 30 foot if you look really close you can see it but that's to be expected. And like I said I knew that ahead of time. For indoor use it as great as a very bright clear line. It feels very well made and I liked it flashes if it's not sitting level that way you don't go too far before you realize your mistake. ... show more

  • Used verticle laser all night long to indicate my side of the bed! Used verticle laser all night long to indicate my side of the bed!
Size: Cross Line Laser, Green
Wow, what a great laser level. Many years ago I was using a Ryobi red laser level. Loved it. Used it for everything from mounting TV to wall, hanging pictures & shelves, painting walls with two tones, etc. This blows the doors off that great little Ryobi with accuracy and visibility. Compared/tested against a $35 MILWAUKEE Compact Billet Torpe for accuracy... dead on! Can easily see a green line indoors 50' away. Tested at an install fast food retail space (all full length glass 3 of 4 walls), middle of bright sunny day, stainless steel surface (see pic). This unit needs ambient lighting. The laser is too bright in a dark room. Lots of mounting options: wood screw, metal magnet, drop ceiling clamp. Still I highly recommend a laser level stand w/ bubble level. You'll be happy you did as 9 out of 10 times I default to the stand. I splurged and went for the DEWALT DW0881 1/4-Inch Laser Tripod ... show more

  • Worth the money. More uses than you may think
Size: Cross Line Laser, Green
Proved to be more valuable than I realized. Purchased to help hang cabinets. Absolutely revolutionary for that. Helped set toe decking for base cabinets. Split the green line in half - lower half on face of toe frame, upper half on wall. Upper cabs- both horizontal and vertical lines help establish levels, but also helped me to see when one cab sucked tight to wall was in fact distorted, making it easier to pinpoint where a few shavings needed to be taken off where cab meets wall. THEN- I started building a new shop. Oh yeah! -Framing vertical and horizontal squareness - Siding- yep, bright enough for that. -Sheetrock> found studs, had buddy move vertical line stud by stud as I drove screws - just smoked through that process! - Metal ceiling- same as above. As for quality, I've had no double line issues or short battery life. I've run this thing for 4-6 hours straight with plenty of battery life. Green color is very visible, even when used outdoors. If you're in business, this will pay for itself monetarily and contribute to the enjoyment of the job for the speed at which you can more accurately execute your work. Really a huge bang for your buck. Go green laser - no regrets! ... show more
