This small but mighty scarify and dethatcher is great. Would I like a wider deck ? Well sure but this just gets more steps in for me. Lol. Very light weight to work with but the blades work fantastic. Changing from one blade to the other is so simple. While the debris bag is nice it fills quickly so slows down the progress. I chose to just dethatch without the bag and then use my lawn mower to pick up the thatch. I also chose to rake up any remaining to get a good clear lawn. Assembly took me a whopping 10 minutes! It folds up quite compactly and can be put in a small space until the next use. I was hesitant about purchasing this unknown machine but glad I did. Fyi...this little guy and I did my 7000 foot lawn in an hour and 20 minutes. Dethatching, grass catching, raking and aererating. Well worth the buy at a ridiculously low cost and will make my twice a year chore so much easier. ... show more

    • Have not had a chance to actually use the dethatcher...
This is a very moderately priced dethatcher, seems like a good deal for the money. Moderate assembly required which is just putting the handle together. The unit itself seems well built and was surprisingly light. The instructions mention a few times that this is for DIY use and not intended for heavy, daily use. I will only use for my small home yard so unit should be fine. ... show more

This little light weight machine really works. I had done our front lawn by hand with a manual thatching and scarifier rake. It was way too hard for someone my age. I had to do the back yard which is twice as big as the front. I saw this little machine on Amazon, pretty inexpensive and if it saved my back, a great investment. I ordered it and it came just as my arms and back were feeling recouped. I could not believe the size of the box it came in, and weighted only about 30 lbs. I thought I made a mistake. We put it together and we were really surprised of the size. We took it outside and Could not believe the capability of this little machine. We only used the thatch attachment, waiting for fall to try the scarifier attachment. I must say, using this product saved my back, and took less than half the time using the manual rake in the front. I am very happy with this purchase and even though it is something that will only get used a couple times a year, it is a real time and sore body saver. We did have to stop quite a few times to empty the bag, but it didn't matter. It still made this chore a lot easier. It worked very well removing the thatch and our lawn can breathe again, and I can breathe a sigh of relief. Thank you! ... show more

    • Works okay, but will have to stop to unclog it
Used it to dethatch my fescue and invasive bermuda lawn. The bag is useless and most of the grass ends up on the ground. Even with the bag removed I would have to stop after one pass to unclog the grass. But it beats doing it with a dethatching rake.

    • Works but issues
So, let's begin with the fact that I've never done anything but mow and fertilize. The dethatching seems to work really good, haven't tried the scarify option yet. The only real issue i have is the size of the bagger. I had to stop twice doing 1 pass long ways to empty bagger. I wanted to get it done so set it on lowest level. Maybe should have done it 2 or 3 times and drop the height each time. Either way, it's a pain. Wish there was a work around for it. Cut grass on lowest setting for lawn mower before dethatching and still have to mow after cuz still had clumps from not wanting to stop 3 times doing a single pass ... show more

Bag is very small, I used without it, just put on eye protection, it did a great job detaching my Bermuda grass,easier than raiking, picked up the thatch with my lawnmower
