Style: Devil's Thumb Falls
The media could not be loaded. Faux rock fountains are not for everyone. The Devil's Thumb, though, is a rather good looking miniature waterfall. If you look closely, you can see the rocks are synthetic. From a few feet away, though, the rocks look, well, rocky. The four lighted pools (the top and bottom are not illuminated) are a nice touch. The fountain looks better when it is illuminated. The two sets of wiring, one for the pump and and one for the lights, are contained in the largest pool at the bottom of the fountain. It took a little bit of fiddling to conceal the pump and the wiring. It took a bit of guesswork to hook it all up because the instructions are not the greatest. However, I was able to get the fountain up and running within 10 minutes of the unboxing. The most difficult part was ridding the thing of the bits of Styrofoam packing that clung all over the rocks and inside the pools. Now the sound of the water is not quite what I was hoping. It's not as soothing and gentle as I had hoped. But the sound of the water is pleasant. Now to the problem I have with the fountain. I was expecting a bit of "spray" to come off the rocks. Sure, enough, there was a bit of spray. I was not, however, expecting the waterfall to change course. What I mean is that when I start up the fountain, the water flows in a controlled fashion from the top pool, then to the pool immediately below it, and so on until it reaches the main pool at the bottom and is pumped back to the top. After 10 or 15 minutes, though, I noticed the water would start flow onto the edges of the lower pools rather than into the pool itself. From the edge of the pool, the water would promptly flow out of the fountain. In my case, the water flowed onto the credenza on which the fountain sat. The water actually damaged the top of the credenza. Now I had taken precautions to protect the surface from the spray. I wasn't expecting the water, though, to start spilling out of the fountain. It's an intermittent problem. But it means this is definitely an outdoor fountain. I uploaded a video of the fountain gurgling away while sitting on the credenza. Plan on troubleshooting it to figure out why it starts to misdirect the water. Until I solve that issue, though, the Devil's Thumb will be on the porch.

I really liked the look and the sound that this waterfall made! Easy to set up. I wished it was bigger but the price is according to size. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the fact that it stopped working, and later fell over because all the water had leaked out/through and it wasn’t as heavy. The fall cracked it but the return window is closed so I guess get the 3 year protection plan if you purchase one of these waterfalls…

Love the design of this fountain. Easy to plug in the LED lights. We have a massive invasion of craneflies at the moment, and I have had them commit suicide in the fountain and clog the pump, necessitating cleaning out the reservoir a couple of times in less than two weeks...but that's not the fault of the fountain or its design. I added a few rocks to the various levels to tone down the waterfall noise, and it's outside under my bedroom window.

I really love the quality and looks of this fountain. My big issue is that the water doesn't quite flow entirely in the direction it is supposed. Yes, it flows downward. Mostly it flows to the next tier, but part of that stream flows over the edge and ultimately to the floor, or ground. I adjusted the pump, but water goes where it goes. I wouldnt send it back for that. I've made fountains and bought many, so I dont consider it a big deal. But, I will have to either glue some pretty rocks in certain areas or build up those areas with mortar or the like. Or put in a smaller pump. All that said, I still think it's very nice looking, smooth sounding, and will look perfect for I intend to put it.
