I really liked this boom arm right out of the box. The build quality immediately stood out — it feels heavy-duty, solid, and well-made. You can tell it’s designed to hold serious weight, and it absolutely delivers on that promise. That said, the first thing I noticed (and didn’t care for) is that you pretty much need to have it set exactly where you want it before you start using it. Once you attach your mic (or device), it doesn’t offer much flexibility for quick repositioning. This is not the type of arm you casually swivel or adjust mid-performance. It’s more of a stationary mic holder for someone who is sitting still and doesn’t need to make frequent changes while recording or performing. The gear-lock system is very strong — which is great for stability — but that strength also means adjustments aren’t as fluid or quick as spring-based arms. Once tightened, it stays put. very little sagging, no drifting, no bounce-back. But you’ll want to fully dial it in before tightening everything down. On the plus side: It easily holds heavier gear without drooping. The 6.6 lb weight capacity is legit. The aluminum alloy construction feels premium. The desk clamp is thick and secure. The cable management channels are a nice touch for a clean setup. The extra-long reach is perfect for larger desk setups and ultrawide monitors. I actually bought this to mount my Galaxy Tab for a more hands-free setup.
