Style: Cordless Rotary Tool Kit
It's bigger than some, but it fits my hand great. Motor is strong. Good rpm. Good battery capacity. Case is well designed and great quality. It has the adjustable speed and lock for the collet. What's amazing about these is how many little tasks you can accomplish. Arts and crafts, home repairs, even dog nail trimming. It will do smaller automotive work as well. Like trimming up a piece of trim or doing lite clearance work. It will cut material as well as shape. Really good for cutting or trimming plastic and thin metal. Not really for thicker metal like 1/8" but it will do it. The charger cable is USB-C. Which is the newer type that is easy to plug in and not directional. I just got it so we'll see how long it lasts, but it does appear to be quality. It comes with plenty of accessories to keep you going for good while, but you'll want to pick up an big accessory kit eventually.. You can never have too many. Be sure to charge the battery every few months so you don't kill it. ... show more

  • Versital mini grinder/engraver
Style: Cordless Rotary Tool Kit
This handy cordless engraver exceeded my expectations. Engraving has always been a task that required precision and control, and this device delivered on both fronts. One of the standout features of this engraver is its cordless design. It allows for complete freedom of movement, making it easy to maneuver and engrave on various surfaces without any limitations. This is particularly useful when working on intricate designs or hard-to-reach areas. The engraver is lightweight and ergonomically designed, making it comfortable to hold and use for extended periods. The grip is secure, ensuring that the device doesn't slip from your hand during engraving. Additionally, the compact size makes it easy to store and transport, making it convenient for both professional engravers and hobbyists. The engraving quality is impressive. The device uses a high-speed motor that delivers consistent and precise engraving results. I was able to create detailed patterns, letters, and designs with ease. The adjustable depth control allows for customization, ensuring that you can achieve the desired effect on different materials. Battery life is also worth mentioning. The engraver comes with a rechargeable battery that lasted for a significant amount of time on a single charge. I appreciate the fact that I didn't have to worry about constantly replacing batteries or being limited by a short battery life. The overall build quality of the engraver is excellent. It feels sturdy and well-made, capable of withstanding regular use and providing durability in the long run. The diamond-tipped engraving bit provided a smooth and precise engraving experience, without any signs of wear even after extended use. In conclusion, the cordless handheld engraver has proven to be a reliable and versatile tool for engraving projects. It offers freedom of movement, precise engraving capabilities, and a comfortable grip. The long-lasting battery and durable construction make it suitable for both personal and professional use. Despite the slight noise level, I highly recommend this engraver to anyone looking to add a personal touch to their projects. ... show more

This review is for: DEPSTECH Cordless Rotary Tool Kit, 8V 2.0Ah Rechargeable Battery, 30000RPM 5-Speed Multi Power Carving Tools, 127Pcs Accessories, Shield Attachment, Cutting/Drilling Guide for Handmade/DIY Creations I am very pleased and surprised that a battery powered rotary tool could be as powerful and last as long as it does per charge. Of course if you have to operate it at the highest speed, you will not enjoy as long of a work time, but when I was using it, I did not have to go all the way to the 5 setting. It worked for about 30 mins or more at level 3 where I did most of my cutting work and even longer at level 2 where I did my sanding work. And this operation was continuous operation for that time, not a lot of start and stop. Doing that for 30 mins continuously will leave you wanting a break. Now it does take a while to recharge, but I just did other things while that was happening. But let me start at the beginning. I love the case that it came in. The case is very sturdy and the latches are ones that will last for a long time. The tool itself is what I would consider a standard size for a rotary tool and easy to hold on to. Like all rotary tools, the vent holes for air circulation are where your hands end up a lot of the time which makes the tool heat up if you don't move your hand around to give it air. All of the rotary tools that I have owned are all the same way. Not sure how they could solve this problem. But, even though the tool gets warm, it did not burn up and die. It did not seem to be effected by the temperature and it did not get too hot to hold. The battery powered motor has a great deal of power. It seemed comparable to the power that my last corded tool had and I did not have to deal with a cord getting in the way. It has 5 speeds with an LED indicator for the speeds, it has LEDs to show battery life, and it has a overpower protection feature where if you operate it too aggressively, it will stop and the LEDs will flash to inform you that you have overpowered it. To operate the tool again, you just simply turn off the tool, wait for the LEDs to stop flashing and then turn the tool on again. This is a great feature and should keep the tool in good shape for a long time. It comes with a charging cable, but not a charger. Many would consider this a negative and yes it would be nice to get a charger with it, but today there are so many chargers laying around a house from previous cell phones and the like that many vendors no longer supply them. I would just suggest that you choose a charger that has a lot of power so it will shorten the charge time. It comes with a nice manual in many languages. It comes with many assorted bits and attachments that you would normally use such as cutting blades, sanding bits, grinding bits, drilling bit, brushes, polishing and engraving attachments. It also has an attachment used for grout removal and a plastic shield to protect you eyes when using the tool. It has different size chuck inserts to accommodate various size bit stems. The bits are stored in a nice plastic box that fits nicely into the case. This case is compact and does not take up a lot of room. I have provided a video about how I used this tool to see its potential. I am making a Gnome garden for my front yard and I had a large piece of a pine tree that I wanted to carve out to look like a drive way for the gnomes. This pine stump was aged for about a year out in the weather and the wood was fairly hard. I needed to carve out the driveway with something and I elected to try this rotary tool on it. I first tried the cutting wheel that came with the set. It cut into the wood, but I could see that this was going to take a long time doing it this way and I was not sure how I would be able to get the correct shape with that wheel. However, from my last rotary tool, I have a bigger cutting wheel which this tool had no trouble powering, but I still was not getting the results that I wanted. I then found a router bit that I had bought separately for my old rotary tool. Just want to make it clear that this router bit did not come with this set and does not usually come with any rotary tool set that I have purchased in the past. However, these bits are available usually where rotary tools are sold and this rotary tool had no problem using it. The stem fit securely in the chuck and the motor had enough power on setting 3 to operate the bit perfectly. To clear out all of the wood material from that stump took three chargings of the rotary tool. You may think that is excessive, but I assure you it was not. I estimate the tool lasted about 30 mins or more on a single charge. After grinding out wood on that stump for 30 mins, I was ready for a break. The hole that I cut out was close to two inches deep and possibly one and a half inches wide. Trying to cut this out by hand would have been a challenge with carving tools and I was very happy with the way this tool allowed me to shape the driveway. After grinding out the wood, I started using the sanding spools to smooth out the cuts. The spools were very effective in smoothing out the wood, but I was operating the sanders on level three and after using the sander for about a minute, the sanding belts on the spools would just spin off. I destroyed about 5 of the spools before I realized that I was using them at too high a speed. I was causing them to get hot and the temperature melted the glue and caused them to fail. As soon as I moved the speed down to level 2, the sanding was still efficient, but the spool lasted for the rest of the time which was a long time. I sanded the driveway smooth, then patched up any cracks in the wood with wood filler, then sanded it again to remove any excess filler, then I filled the cracks in the wood on the rest of the stump and then sanded them. So, that one spool at the correct speed probably could have completed the entire sanding job. When I was done sanding, I checked the spool and there was still considerable sanding surface on the spool. Since I was sanding a an angle most of the time, the tip of the sanding spool was more worn than the rest. So, I could just turn the spool around on the bit shaft and make the other end of the spool the tip and sanded a bunch more. I have included a still photo of the stump so I hope you can get an idea of the depth of the driveway and how nicely this rotary tool worked to achieve that result. The only negative things about this tool are that charging time takes a while and as I said when you hold the tool in a golf grip, you cover up the vent holes some time. Every rotary tool I have owned has the vent hole problem and as far as charging time, since the battery is not removable, it is just a necessity to have a long charging time to have a long operating time. But, the positive that makes the charging time worth it is that you do not have to contend with a cord. So, I see no reason not to give this tool 5 stars. I hope this review provides you with enough information to make a decision about purchasing one. I am very happy with mine. ... show more

Style: Cordless Rotary Tool Kit
A quality product that seems on par with the major brand, but for a fraction of the cost. Battery life thus far seems good and is nice that it uses USB-c as opposed to a proprietary plug. Thus far has worked well for some light sanding/polishing and dog nail trimming. As someone new to this type of multi-tool, I would only wish that the instruction booklet was more detailed about all the MANY attachments that come with it. I did end up printing out the picture from Amazon of all the pieces and put it in the case with the tool as a reference. Speaking ion the case, it is solid and compact. All in all, a very good buy. ... show more

  • Super-picky review here. Only one concerning issue with this product.
Style: Cordless Rotary Tool Kit
First off I should say that I tend to be a bit hypercritical with reviews and not that generous with ratings. Arguably I should have given it four stars, but even a number of Dremel name-brand tools would only get four stars from me. This is actually a surprisingly good tool that most people will be happy with as long as they don't need more than "8V" of rotary tool power for whatever they're doing, and if they can avoid breaking the shaft-locking bar which is weaker than it should be. This should be thought of as a heavy "small crafts" tool and NOT a light construction tool. The marketing people are correct that this is much better than the "4V" tools while not being too heavy. First off, the #1 problem I've found with this tool is that the locking bar (the button near the tip) is not as strong as it really needs to be. When you lock the shaft to tighten the collet, you have to be careful not to apply too much torque or you're going to break something. The casing of the tool starts to clamshell open, and this is even more obvious if you tighten it when the plastic accessory collar is removed. I would suspect that people accidentally breaking the tool by using too much force to tighten the collet is probably the main problem their tech support has run into. But other than that, about the only issue is that you can't operate the tool on USB power if you need to. Plugging it in to USB power puts it into charging mode where it won't run. I don't consider this to be a huge problem especially since many devices are like this. but given that the battery is not removable/swappable it would be a nice feature if you could run the tool directly from USB power as long as the power supply is sufficient. With those concerns out of the way, here are some performance tests: Rotary Power Typical wood-carving, sanding, and metal grinding jobs: More than sufficient. You won't have any trouble using small carving/grinding burrs with this. Only some of the ones like the Kutzall Extreme will seem a little underpowered at times. Metal cutting with abrasive discs: Not quite enough power to be that great at it even with small stuff, but it's possible. Works, but takes too long when cutting something like a deck screw. I think some carbide burrs I have will cut a deck screw off with this tool much faster than a cutting disk. Rotary cutting bit: I haven't tried it on drywall yet, but I got some multi-purpose cutting bits for harder materals and cut two 5" wide circles in 3/8" thick particle board with no problem. Maybe a little slower than a more powerful tool, but much better than I expected. Since this works fine drywall ought to be easy. Cutting rebar: This was a silly test I did just to see how badly it would fail. No you're not going to cut rebar with this and a cutting disk, but a badly designed tool could burn itself out trying. The DEPSTECH tool went into overload protection mode and shut off like it should have when overloaded like this. So the overload function works quite well. Battery Life I didn't really try to measure this scientifically, so I'll just report what I was able to do. I cut two 5" wide holes in particle board (which is harder than softwood because it's half plastic) and cut off two hardened steel deck screws. This used up half of the battery. I started carving a wooden toy on half battery and almost finished before the battery ran out, would have finished easily if I had started on full battery. When starting with full battery, I haven't had the battery charge run out before I was finished with whatever i was doing. Charge time: I didn't really measure this, but subjectively I'd say that if the battery is "dead" then it takes about as long to charge to full as an iPad does on the same 40W power supply. I have to say I wasn't expecting much from a USB powered tool, but USB 3.0 power supplies tend to be 40W so it's a more than reasonable charging source. Conclusion Arguably I should have given this 4 stars. I think most people who don't break the tool by tightening the collet too hard, and have reasonable expectations for "8V power", are going to be perfectly happy with it. While the power output is not at the level of the more heavy duty construction-oriented rotary tools, it can be used for a few "construction" type purposes like cutting a small number of smaller holes in particle board or soft wood planks, and should easily handle the same in drywall. While I didn't have any problem with the battery life or charge time, someone who wants to use this all day might run into the battery limitations and the inability to either swap the battery or run off of corded power. Most people who don't need heavy duty amounts of power will be satisified with this tool, and especially the price. The only real design improvements that could be made are beefing up the shaft lock and maybe allowing for it to run from corded power. ... show more
