The driver side headlight assembly fit my 2010 beetle well. I got it installed at an auto body shop. The 2010 beetle and prior few years’ beetle have a headlight assembly problem in which the connector does not get properly connected to the assembly. You can google the problem for more details. A simple solution is using a zip tie or two to secure the connector properly. You can find a YouTube video about that. The auto body shop at first said the installation would be tricky but when I showed them the video they finished the installation within 30 minutes. The VW dealership quoted over $500 for only this assembly (excluding the labor cost). By purchasing this, I saved a lot. ... show more

Purchased for a 2006 Beetle TDI. I had to remove the plug on the inside of the car from its mount so that it would reach the connector on the headlight assembly. Kind of a pain in the butt but it worked. After that it didn’t line up quite as good as the original assembly but again it worked.. Dont buy it if you want a perfect replacement, but it if good enough is good enough. ... show more

It is very difficult to learn to change this light. Once you know how it takes very little time. It takes a 3/16 socket or metric equivalent with a long extension to turn the locking mechanism located inside the hood near the center of this light fixture. It has two pictures of padlocks, one open one shut to show you what direction to turn the mechanism. Then you have to push out on the light from the back WHILE pushing down a lever which is a few inches towards the rear of the car from the unlocking/locking mechanism. I've done it a few times and it takes me under a minute to do it. It took me hours to figure it out the first time. The driver's side is more difficult because more stuff is in the way. ... show more

This headlight assembly was not a direct replacement for my 2009 VW Beetle. The electrical connector in the car would not connect to the new light. The old light was working and was being replaced due to weathering / fading of the clear lens. I had to remove the inner headlight retainer and place shims behind the mounting screws to bring the assembly farther forward. Once that was done the light worked. The good thing is the price point vs OEM. This assembly is good quality construction just missed on the electrical connection. ... show more
