  • Terrible packaging.
The radiator for my 2000 Tundra may have been okay when it left the factory, but the packaging was frankly embarrassing. No internal support like on other radiators I've ordered, just a box with a couple of lightweight foam corner, all of which had broken and where loose in the box, as was the radiators, just sliding back and forth with no padding or support at all. As you can see, the transmission fittings broke through the box and both where BENT with the end of one visibly smashed, and you can see that the lower left side was bent inwards (look at the spacing between tubes there) Some of the hardware clips for the bolts (not welded on like OEM) where missing. No doubt they fell out the holes in the box so I reused the original brackets. When all was said and done it fit okay but I am wondering how long it will last with this kind of damage. If it wasn't 5ºF outside and I wasn't working in the snow on a truck I really needed to work I would have returned the radiator. As it is, I had no real choice but to use it as is. Very unhappy with the product I received. ... show more

  • Keep your cool, change your radiator
Installed on a 2002 Toyota Tundra 4.7 V8. These radiators use plastic tanks which can crack, and after 15 years I decided to change it out before taking the truck on a long trip in two months. Radiator came in a heavy cardboard box and was in good condition despite a small gash in the box. It had come free from some of the foam packing inserts so it wasn't fully stabilized in the box. However, the only issue I found was (as others have noted) some of the speed nuts on the two side brackets were loose in the box. The radiator itself was fine, and it looks virtually identical to the original (but a lot cleaner.) I decided to reuse the original side brackets since the nuts are permanently attached. The holes did not quite line up, so I used tin snips to removed the 1/4 inch of metal between the hole and the end of the bracket. I also replaced the upper and lower hoses, thermostat and gasket and the serpentine belt - it's super easy to access the belt with the radiator out. I was given a $600 quote to do all this, I paid under $200 for all parts and coolant. Took me about 4 hours, but that includes flushing coolant, cleanup, etc. ... show more

  • MAJOR MANUFACTURING MISTAKE
The radiator has less core volume than the OEM all-aluminum unit. I drained two gallons from the existing radiator and the new one required only 1½ gallons to fill. I believe the volume difference is in the smaller plastic top and bottom tanks. Everything else lined up well, but the radiator mounting U-type speed nuts were oversized and I could not use the OEM mounting bolts. I trashed the speed nuts and used 5/16" bolts with flat washers on each side, and lock washers under the nuts. The speed nuts for the fan shroud were properly sized and allowed the use of the original bolts. The radiator was poorly packaged, with an oversized box and foam inserts that had almost all come loose in transit. The major problem, however, was that there is a FATAL MOLDING ERROR inside the filler neck, such that no standard radiator cap will fit. Where there is supposed to be a flat landing 5/8" below the top of the neck for the cap spring seal to seat, there is a sharp, raised rim. DO NOT BUY THIS RADIATOR UNLESS THIS MANUFACTURING MISTAKE IS CORRECTED. ... show more

  • Major pain
This radiator was a perfect fit for my 2001 Toyota Tundra. I installed it and stripped my first mounting bolt. I noticed that looking down at all of the mounting clips they were spread at an angle making the mounting bolts to short. So out came the radiator. I bent the clips thinking the threads would be closer to start the bolts. Put the radiator back in. Still not working for me. Pulled the radiator out again. Took the mounting side rail off of the old radiator and mounter to the new radiator. Finally a fit I could live with! If I had known the clips were not going to work to begin with this job would have been much easier. Also not impressed with SurePost shipping. Radiator comes to my area UPS and then they hand it off to USPS who does not deliver packages of this size to me. 14 miles latter I am at my post office to finish delivering the package myself. Other than that I hope this radiator will work for another 200K miles. ... show more

  • Easy install
Everything went well and took about 40 minutes including the draining and refill. Reused mounting hardware from original, but had too round out the holes on one side as they were maybe 1/8 inch offset. no big deal and with a washer made the fit near perfect. Toyota Tundra Limited step-side 4 wheel drive with 396,000 miles I had 2 small leaks and then a slightly larger leak when I noticed liquid on the garage floor and instead of the quick fix, decided to just replace since the price was right 1 con was I did have to order a second unit as the 1st unit the packaging was not up standards and the trans nozzles were bent on the 1st but Amazon gave me 30 days to return so kept the 1st till the 2nd unit arrived ... show more
