  • How to get it going, its worth the little effort.
This is an amazing product. Setup can be confusing. Here is what I figured out about setup. Have all connections handy, but Don’t connect anything. As soon as the app finds your device, it sets up your wifi. When it goes to AIRPLAY setup. Do not add a password. It is not asking for your wifi password. You already gave that. If you are in a dorm or a tight neighborhood where someone in the next house could see the airplay speaker, you may need the password but adding a password for me caused an error and made me start over and over.. When it wants to do the software update, walk away. Mine took 20 minutes to update and I have fiber internet. Only add speakers or HDMI, or Ethernet when the Heos app tells you too. And make sure your wifi for phone and and the Home app are the same router. I have access points, those aren’t the same as the same wifi network. It can cause problems. Once I figured those things out. Setup was easy. If ypu seem stuck. Unplug, hold the Bluetooth button while you plugin again and a yellow flashing light tells you there is some resetting going on. Bluetooth and the wifi connect pressed at the same time is yet another reset. Once setup the app has many connections and listening options. And this thing sounds great. I picked it over a sonos amp because the dac handles up to 192khz streams, Sonos amp is only 48khz according to Crutchfield. However I have a Sonos system all over my house including a Port that I use connected to the input of the Dennon home amp. Again it performs well and adds control options.to the port as a hifi input. I am only using this to power two speakers on my patio. Now my whole yard is rocking.. I would certainly recommend this to a friend.. It looks good, is very clear, and has ample power for the half acre behind the house. ... show more

  • Not easy to use.
Have to use the HEOS app on the phone to turn the unit on, it will not automatically come on with Tv, line in or optical inputs coming on. Not easy to use. Shuts off frequently. When it works the sound is okay. Just not convenient for such a costly item.

  • Compact amp with great sound and lots of streaming options
I have been using this with a pair of passive speakers and it has been a really solid little amplifier. For its size it puts out a surprising amount of power at 100 watts per channel, which is more than enough for most home listening setups. The sound quality is clean and detailed and it drives bookshelf speakers easily. One of the main reasons I wanted this unit is the built in HEOS streaming. It lets you stream music over WiFi from services like Spotify, Tidal, or Amazon Music and it also supports AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. That makes it really flexible depending on how you want to play music around the house. I also like that it includes HDMI eARC, which makes it easy to connect to a TV and use it as a simple audio upgrade without needing a full AV receiver. Setup was fairly straightforward and once connected it worked well with the HEOS app. The only thing to be aware of is that most control happens through the app instead of a traditional remote, so there is a little bit of a learning curve at first. Overall this is a nice option if you want a compact amplifier that can power passive speakers while also acting as a modern streaming hub. It is small, powerful for its size, and integrates well into a multi room audio setup. ... show more

  • Not Ready - too many issues
There is almost no real information about this product despite all the hype. When I had so many issues with the setup and finally called Denon the conversation went like this: "Hello, I'm having problems with the Denon Home Amp." "What's the model number?" "It's just called the Home Amp." "But what is the model number?" "It doesn't have a model number, it's your newest product." "Oh, let me put you on hold." That should tell you this is not yet a viable product - Denon Tech Support never even heard of it! He finally came back on reading from some manual (which wasn't included in the box) and tried to help. The first issue is that the setup won't go past a TV configuration - and I wasn't connecting a TV. The tech swore there must be a way to skip it but there was no way, The setup just waits until you connect an HDMI or Optical. There is no way to get around it. We ended up factory restting the unit Press the Bluetooth button and hold it down while disconnecting and reconnecting power and wait for the status light to turn amber. I then had to connect a TV to finish the setup - if you don't finish, the amp does not function at all. The amp appears to stay ON all the time - nothing about this in the 2 page guide. The amp only works with HEOS, there is no remote. HEOS is better but still a mess - don't even try to get it to connect to a server. It took me four days and a third party app to get it to connect to a QNAS. It almost seems like someone else made this product and Denon is just selling it because no one seems to know much about it. ***UPDATE*** I was able to find a manual online that explained some functions - but I am unable to post the link due to amazon restrictions. But other issues have arisen - Ihave another Denon AVR and every time I use the Home Amp, HEOS resets my other Denon as well even though I did not select it. The only way around this problem was to turn off Network Control on the AVR. ... show more

  • Great compact amplifier.
Don’t sleep on this little amplifier. It produces high quality sound feeding my Kef q150 book shelf speakers. The sound is clean, dynamic and integrated perfectly into my desktop setup. Note: I use a usb to optical converter to feed audio into the amplifier. The phone application is easy to use and allows for sound adjustments including, virtual, night, and dialogue enhancement. It also offers bass management options. The only thing it lacks for is an included remote. ... show more

  • Confusing to setup. Really really hard to get to work.
First off once you get it to work, it does work and quite well. However the issue is trying to get it to sync and work with anything. I had audio delays, no sync or distorted audio once I did get it to connect. After heavily trouble shooting over several days tinkering I figured what was going on with the device and the audio came out really really clear and great. But honestly the amount of effort it took to get that done was obnoxious and I'd rather just pay for a more plug and play product. I will admit that when it works it works but wouldn't suggest getting this unless you're really experienced with this kind of thing or willing to hire someone to set it up for you. ... show more

  • Hope That You Like the HEOS App...
I've been using the Denon Home Amp in a downstairs office/den with a pair of (old, nothing special) bookshelf speakers to play audio from an (older, pre ARC/eARC) TV, along with streaming Amazon Music. Even with my undistinguished speakers, the sound quality is great. The HEOS app can stream Amazon Music in HD or Ultra HD, so that's a good reason for me to plan for a speaker upgrade. The amp is very unobtrusive, especially compared to a full-size receiver -- at 8 inches square and about 3.5" tall, it fits pretty much anywhere and keeps a low profile. (I've got mine on top of a bookshelf.) Installation and setup was simple through the HEOS app (another reviewer said they couldn't get past the step where it demanded to be connected to an eARC TV; I just pressed the close-X in the upper right corner to continue), including connecting the amp to my network and connecting HEOS with my Amazon Music account. Using the amp pretty much demands the HEOS app, which is my biggest weak point. The front panel has six buttons: three to switch between sources (that you've defined in the app), one to play/pause your current source, and two to turn the volume up and down. It would be nice to have at least a minimal remote that you could use to turn the amp on and exercise some basic control from across the room. (There is a connector for an IR receiver, but it would be nice for everything to already come in the box and be set up.) Compounding the difficulty of the app-only route is that HEOS app's interface with Amazon Music is a little clunky. If you already live inside your phone, or have other HEOS devices, I'd say that this is the product for you! For others, it's an easy way to power a pair of speakers and a subwoofer, and its aesthetics fit easily into any room -- but its minimalistic, app-first approach to controls might be a stumbling block. ... show more

  • Great amp that solved many PC sound issues.
I used this amp with my PC where it is paired with KEF LS50 meta speakers and a KEF subwoofer. This amp sounds good and auto turns on when using the optical connection. I was using an HDMI connection with ARC but had several issues with my previous receiver but after replacing with this my audio just works now! I now enjoy my PC with having random HDMI issues. ... show more
