Description

The Delta 36-L352 10-inch 3HP left-tilt Unisaw with its 52-Inch BIESEMEYER fence system has a powerful 3 horsepower, 220 volt, 60 Hz American Marathon motor designed to handle the most demanding production environments. The saw comes standard with Delta’s legendary Biesmeyer fence system and is backed by Delta’s 5 YEAR professional . Dual front cranks make adjusting blade height and bevel easy, accurate, and repeatable. The forward located bevel dial allows fine tuning of the blade bevel to an accuracy you can trust to be within 1/4 degree. A single-cast TRUNNION system results in incredible vibration control providing continuous smooth operation. The riving knife enables tool-less adjustment for through- and non-through cuts including grooves for shelves and picture frames as well as dadoes, rabbets, and cheek cuts for furniture. Other features include a push button Arbor lock making the blade changing process with the use of only one wrench. Improved table-top geometry provides more surface area to stabilize the product and offers outstanding smoothness. A large cast iron cabinet base provides added stability. Storage under the table board is convenient and expandable and the Bi-level dust extraction improves dust collection. This saw is ideal for woodworking, cabinet making, and boat building. Ive had this saw for a few weeks - and have put it through its paces. I will start with the positives: The main part of the saw was well packed and arrived in excellent condition. The saw is heavy.....very heavy. I bought the 5HP version - and its a beast. The table on the main part of the saw is dead flat and very smooth. Assembly was pretty straightforward - with the exception of the table extensions (more on that later). I love the gigantic throat opening - i could almost fit my head in there. The large opening coupled with the handy spindle stop button & large offset wrench makes blade changes a breeze. Adjusting the blade to be parallel to the miter slots is super simple. The large handles on front are fantastic. The riving knife (normally the first thing removed on every table saw) seems to be pretty decent. The stock general purpose blade makes pretty clean cuts - not as good as Freud - but pretty close. There was some shipping damage - Amazon was great to work with on rectifying that. Now for the negatives: This shipped via Amazon - they subbed it out to Pilot. They were supposed to call me to coordinate the delivery date as i was supposed to be here to receive it. They did not call - they simply left it on my concrete pad outside my shop. No signatures were required. It was almost a $3,000 machine - that they just left outside my shop. This is the second issue i have had with Pilot delivering for Amazon. Although the main saw was packaged well - the other 2 boxes were not. They were cardboard boxes - with an insufficient amount of foam inside. The boxes would not hold up to normal handling considering the weight of the items inside. The plywood laminate on the fence was busted up on the corner and rolled over. The fence rails were scratched up. The el-cheapo table extension suffered the most damage as the corners were busted and mushroomed up. After some calls with Amazon - they made it right. The cast iron top had numerous sharp corners - so sharp that i sliced my hand open trying to assemble one of the cast iron wings. The method of leveling the cast iron wings is very finicky. they simply use 2 set screws on each wing to get it level. But as you tighten the wings with the 3 bolts - it draws the wings down. It also means the middle bolt (that doesnt have a set screw) bows the extension when tightened up. So its hit or miss trying to level them. By far this is the most time consuming part of assembly. So far - ive been unable to adjust the rip fence so that it slides left/right easily without compromising its ability to stay in position when clamped. If i get it to slide easily when unclamped - the fence moves with very minimal pressure when clamped. When i get it to hold position properly when clamped - its very difficult to slide it into position when its unclamped. The dust collection has a shroud around the bottom half of the blade - and at first looks very promising. But it hasnt been terribly effective at collecting all the dust. every couple weeks i have had to clean out the cabinet that the dust collection didnt remove. As many folks mentioned in their reviews - the legs on the el-cheapo extension arent long enough. So i had to get longer bolts to get it level. Finally - the el-cheapo table extension......yuck......worthless.....very cheaply made. Not sure why Delta even bothered making it. Once i get caught up in my shop - i will certainly be making a replacement. For the price - i am very happy. There are some minor issues that Delta needs to address to make this an excellent saw. ... show more

UPDATE 6/7/12 I've been using the saw a lot and I really like it. I needed to do some modification to get fence to move side to smoothly (just a couple of washers). the dust collection works very well. If your using the saw hard do ripping 30 or 40 piece 4/4 or 5/4 I hit my knee on something here the lock nut on the hit adjustment got loose enough to slide all the way out. So if you've got a big cut job just make sure the lock nut is snug. No other issues or concerns! I almost forget that Delta still hasn't sent me the $300 Rebate if purchased before 21/31/11. I did call once and CSR made me feel bad for calling because they were so back up processing all the rebates. she assured me that the end of April at the latest. So can I call again? So here's the deal the table saw is the heart of a wood shop. I've been researching and dreaming about a new cabinet table saw for two or three years. Do I need the 5hp or is 3hp enough. My shops not huge 24' x 32' so a mobile base would be nice. One more piece of background my wood shop is about 70 miles from my home at our weekend get away place. So here's my problem I love Amazon I use them all the time! But in this case they are wrong! If you order the DELTA 36-L352 3 HP 10-Inch Unisaw with 52-Inch Biesemeyer Fence System and the base DELTA 50-289 Mobile Machine Base for Unisaw with 52-Inch Unifence as it packaged on the Amazon website you'll end up disappointed! This is the WRONG BASE FOR THE UNISAW! It's a great solid base by Delta but it's too small. So the base arrives one to two weeks before the table saw and open the box setup the base and wait. Your so excited when you get the call from the shipper about the saw! The delivery guy was awesome he offer to back all the back my driveway (about a 1/4 mile). I had my son and a B3200 Kubota tractor with the pallet forks a little nervous since the saw weights about 670lbs. No problems with the load got it the shop and started unpacking. It's 5 boxes we opened the saw box and started removing the lag screws. Arranged the mobile base and lifted the saw unto the base. HUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM! I called Delta and the correct base for the saw is the 50-257 not the 50-289. Both Amazon customer care people were great. I had to call twice because I forgot I saved the original box for the base. So I disassembled the wrong base repacked it in it's original box and set on the porch for pickup. I than ordered the correct base from Amazon. Now I admit, I did called every Woodcraft Store and asked if they had the correct base in stock first! So my son packed our food and we headed home. That was yesterday I'm back at work in my office typing this today Friday the 16 of December 2011. Hope this saves another wood worker the disappointment of the WRONG BASE!
