I upgraded to this laptop last week from HP ENVY 13t-d000. Which I customized from HP.com . Core i7 6th gen, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD and 3200x1800 QHD non-touch. Super light laptop and fast. However recently for my college work I need to run 3-4 virtual machine through VMware. The RAM were soldered, so can't upgrade. I am not a gamer but all I want from my computer is that a quick response time. Which my laptop couldn't provide when I ran VMware, Mozilla firefox (5 tabs at least) and MS word/excel. Also the battery backup was not so great compared to other 2015 released laptops. 3-4 hours max if I was lucky, with full resolution and brightness. After few months of research and saving some money, decided to go for this tiny brat. I read a lot of reviews about the coil whine, several users posted video of the constant coil whine sound, also the camera being positioned in awkward side (Though I don't care). Users also complained about the Wi-Fi issue, but I knew it wasn't going to be a big deal since people also mentioned it was resolved after updating bios, driver and windows. I was also considering the new XPS 13 2-in-1. But not a fan of i7-7Y75, plus it doesn't have a literal fan in the system. Which I need because the extreme pressure I put on my poor laptops. I also use a laptop cooling pad at home. As a part time employee (PC department) of US' largest electronic retail store, I have enough opportunity to play with the laptops anytime I wanted. Plus I get to see exact sale and return ratio (Not very ethical revealing these information, I apologize). Unfortunately my employer company decided to discontinue XPS 13-9360or may be they didn't carry it at all, because when I looked it up it wasn't there and no updates of getting it in the stock. So looked up at Dell.com and every other major retailer. If Dell.com could offer me a better price I would've ordered it from them because I needed the fingerprint reader. On my HP laptop I mentioned above, had that feature. Very useful and secure. You can only add that hardware if you order through Dell for an addition $20. Also if you need windows 10 pro, it's $50 more. All of these ONLY can be done at the point of sale. However I looked up at Google.com and found Windows 10 pro OEM for 1/10th of the regular price (Legit and verified but use PayPal). You can also get it from amazon for $140 (only for Prime members). If you don't need remote desktop and encryption features also putting updates on pause, stick to home edition. For a week I did a lot of test on my laptop and came out pretty solid. You can download some freeware laptop benchmark/stress test software to check. Also if you don't need power share feature, go to bios and disable the feature like me. It drains battery if you connect a hard drive like peripherals and wireless transceiver for mouse,even after you shutdown the system and keep them connected. The laptop has solid battery backup, I always use full fledged functionality of laptop because most of the time I use my laptop connected to a power source. That being said, just to test the battery I used it on battery and I got impressive 6-7 hours. I am more than happy. On any worse day I rarely use my laptop for 4 hours on battery. So my feedback might be different from the others depending on usage policy and expectations. One thing I would like to mention about the laptop's display is that it's super bright and clear. It has the same QHD display as my previous HP ENVY laptop. But after 2 days of use I decided to reduce the brightness to 75%, very soothing and still same as the previous. Wish I had taken picture, keeping both laptop side by side. Oh yeah as for the coil whine it was some what loud when I first opened the laptop. However after updating bios, driver, OS it was almost gone, sometimes it came back and was loud. So I can't tell for sure that the updates resolved the issues. I am not that annoyed by noise because most of the time at home I use my laptop cooling pad and that fan is always humming. And when I watch TV shows, I use my bose earbuds, so no chance of getting annoyed. Speaking of sound experience, as I hardly use laptop's speakers, I am not able to provide any feedback. The USB 3.0 port on this model is a blessing. I can connect my laptop cooling pad and other peripherals, also got an USB type-C to Micro-B for my portable Hard drive. Speaking of portable, the small 11 inch footprint puts this laptop on top every 13 inch laptops out there. I pack lot of stuffs on my shoulder bag, books, papers, mobile charger and cable, water bottle, work uniform the days I work. So the small shape and weight is a great feature. After 1 week of use the battery is flashing orange and it won't stay on unless you plug it in. It's a nice laptop however, and performance wise is decent enough.

It's been a year and half since I last purchased my Dell XPS 13. Here's an update to my review. This laptop has slowed down a lot, I only have adobe and microsoft softwares installed. I don't have any games installed that could possibly slow it down but over the pass year every update, it feels slower. Even just simple browsing, opening 3-5 tabs feels slow. It was blazing fast when I purchased it. And then the worse part, it is now starting to have monitor issues, flickering screen. Just in time before my warranty lapse. I ordered this customized build of dell xps 13 on amazon but I'm from the Philippines. I transferred the warranty from US to Philippines right after purchase and it was successful. But the worst part, recently when I tried to request for support regarding the slow down issues and monitor flickering issues I'm experiencing, they said in the Philippines that they won't repair any product purchased outside our country. I got really disappointed about Dell support system. They told me before that once warranty is transferred to my country they will be able to repair any issue, and would even visit our house to check out and repair the product. Unfortunately when I called Dell Support, they told me I need to purchase Premium Warranty Support (around $200) for them to be able to repair the product. This is totally a rip off, I wasn't aware that I will need to pay $200 for the repair. I thought that the transfer of warranty from US to Philippines is enough and that's actually what the dell support in the US told me. I have no choice but to buy this premium support warranty. So I purchased it here in the Philippines. Unfortunately my warranty lapse, and I need to wait for 3 months for Dell to approve my premium support upgrade request. (So even if I already paid for premium support, they still can disapprove it). And right now, they can't repair my laptop because I have to wait for the premium support to get approved before they can repair it. I have high expectations with Dell. I really thought this was the best in the laptop or even pc category. I thought they have the best support. Unfortunately everything is wrong. It's a total scam. Total rip off.
