  • and I find Win10 (in this laptop) to be a good (or very good) replacement of Mac OS
The laptop just works out of the box; no issues as faced by others. I came from a mid-2015 Macbook Pro, and I find Win10 (in this laptop) to be a good (or very good) replacement of Mac OS. Ordered the normal 4K version, but it arrived with the extra finger-print version ... NICE !! The trackpad is precise; I keep it ON together with my mouse(in case I lost my USB mouse receiver). No flickering issue; I am happy with the speed of the Toshiba SSD. I orginally had the intention to change CPU speed, and to do re-pasting. But the system has been so stable that I do not bother about it anymore. My typical usage so far is normal office work; not imaging/photo-retouching, nor code compilation. My three complains in the following order :: 1) I prefer to have at least an extra USB port and /or a extra USB-C port 2) Get rid of this battery check indicator on the right; I have never used it !! 3) I prefer the keyboard to have abit more travel Overall still a very good laptop ; a definite Macbook Pro replacement. • Seems to be a great machine but exercise caution
I purchased this machine mainly for post-processing of my photographs and so far I am impressed! However, I must express my disappointment over the lack of response from TriValley to my query. In making the decision to purchase this unit, I was of the understanding that I was purchasing a version of Microsoft Office that was to be registered by me upon receipt, NOT a trial version. I suggest that this be clearly stated in the product specifications. Additionally, I am periodically receiving a message indicating that Windows 10 was not properly loaded. Further, to access the @ symbol, I need to use the " key and vice versa. I am yet to locate the number symbol on this keyboard as the traditional key now offers £. In spite of this experience, I would still recommend this Dell unit, maybe from another supplier. Cheers! ... show more

  • Great laptop with a BIG hitting probem
This computer is really GREAT in many terms. It has an amazing 4K display. 32GB of memory. Big SSD drive. Strong CPU and Dual graphic cards. One of them is NVidia. It is relatively lightweight, not so thick and got a compact size even with 15" display. It has a one pretty prominent problem: HITTING. It seems like Dell engineers are not really aware of the fact that computer generates hit. It seems like they didn't invest a single minute of thought to figure out how to properly dispense hit. It's poor ventilation creates a so sever hitting problem that I would recommend you to stay away from this laptop. Once hit is too high, which happens very quickly, the computer starts throttling. It makes it work is SO SLOW, that you will feel like you are working on a machine from the 80s. Just copy some big file, open a video or Chrome with a bunch of tabs and hit starts building up. Very quickly you start hearing the ventilation starts working hard. Which is not a big deal, since it tries to clear the hit which it good. But once you stop doing the heavy action, it takes a VERY long time for vantillation to stop the noise. which strongly implies that it is VERY POOR in clearing hit. I have Mac from my work. I do with it pretty heavy stuff. There are times when vantillation starts working hard, then after no more than a minute, it stops. It is doing a great job in clearing hit. It has never throttled. This Dell is throttling all the time up to a point I simply cannot work with it anymore. My suggestion: stay away from this laptop. Not because it is not GREAT, because Dell engineers simply do not understand a thing about building machines that know to properly deal with hit. ... show more

  • My worst choice of laptop
From my personal experience of using this laptop for a little over a year now, I can say that I am not pleased with this purchase. Being a college student, I sometimes want to use various applications that only support 1080p resolution and do not scale. That certainly is one of the biggest downsides to this laptop. I cannot use the laptop for even the slightest bit of gaming that I do considering they don't scale and other games I enjoy do not run well at 4k resolution and when downscaling, the game simply looks blurry which really makes me consider buying another laptop. The scaling support is just the start for my issues. Another thing that I can't get over is the lack of control given to modify the fan speeds! Getting an expensive laptop like this you would hope that that it would perform quietly too, not the case whatsoever. After reading numerous other articles it is clear that this issue is not just on my laptop.. it is occurring across an excessive amount of XPS15's! Overall, would not recommend the 4k model in anyway shape or form unless you want to do work on photoshop and/or other tasks that require a high pixel count, definitely not a gaming laptop or a very performant laptop from my usage. ... show more

  • Great Performance, Solid Design, Awesome Experience
I bought the Core i7, 16GB of RAM, 4k display, and 1TB SSD version Pros: Solid Robust Design. Lightweight and Easy to carry Performance better than you would expect. Can run Multiple Desktops and Multiple chrome tabs seamlessly even with 6-7 applications open on each desktop. Fingerprint Scanner makes life very easy. Didn't face any trouble with the Wifi. Breathtaking display. Battery Life upto 6 hours with full brightness and regular browsing/coding. Cons: Terrible Camera Placement - If you do a lot of video calls then it is not the computer you want. It is not centered and so if you're looking straight then the person you're talking to will see that you're looking on you're right and think that you're not paying attention. Also, it catches your fingers when the screen is up straight Carbon Fibre catches a lot of oil and sweat from Palm rest. If you don't need to use the webcam much this is a very fast and classy computer to have. I can see it lasting for 4-5 years easily ... show more
