  • Impressive!
The packaging was fine. The system was sturdily put together, so no damage. This setup works very well with RHEL. Putting in an extra SATA III SSD makes this a dual-booting dream. No Win11 support, but this is a GREAT Windows 10 install. No bloat. Make sure to update the AMD drivers! I received an Intel i7-2600 CPU. The listing is a little vague about that, which is confusing. This CPU has aged surprisingly well. It's pretty much on-par with 10th gen i5s I've used and I haven't yet run into a CPU bottleneck. The heatsink on this thing is CHUBBY, blowing cool air out the exhaust under rendering/gaming loads. The motherboard can support up to an Intel i7-3770k if you'd like a little more punch. Everything came pretty much as advertised. The hard drive works fine and passes S.M.A.R.T. tests, although GNOME Disk Tool said it had been spinning for 10 years. The 16 gigabytes of RAM promised are all there. The WIFI adapter works well enough to wait for a better one to come thru the mail. Easy, cheap fix. USB 2.0 only, but for most media (music, movies, ROMs) these work great with external drives to add even more storage. There are 4 USB ports on the front tho, the listing photo shows only 2 ports. The GPU is the highlight here. The RX 550 128-bit 4gb still slaps despite it's age. Coming from Intel iGPU (UHD 630) it's a trip to use this thing. Most of the big games I like are a little older so I barely have to dive into settings anymore. Risk of Rain 2, Skyrim: SE, Souls games, Halo: MCC, XCOM 2, Noita, Civ6. So I'm not playing the most intensive games. It works very well for what I like. This system even runs Davinci Resolve surprisingly well. I wouldn't dive into Fusion very deeply, but render times are speedy and it barely hitches when scrubbing even 6k RAW. Performance takes a small hit when coloring, but that's expected. I'm impressed. SKYTECH snipped at the right corners to offer iGPU gamers their ticket to discrete graphics gaming on a budget. Nvidia would like you to believe you need to earn 100k per year to game on PC. This 300 dollar tower gets you two feet in the door and a path forward. All I did was get better WIFI and slap an extra SSD and the experience is even better. With a few more upgrades, this thing can turn into an absolute BEAST, for surprisingly little. I even got a follow-up message from SKYTECH to see if I needed technical support. It was probably automated, but that's an appreciated detail. I'm very happy with my purchase and I think others looking to move on from iGPU gaming will too. • (Edited!) The 2TB Hard Drive does absolutely nothing…
The 128gb “ssd” holds literally nothing and the “2TB drive” doesn’t work. The drive itself works but you can’t get it to actually store downloads. This computer is junk. Well, I changed my one star review to a 3 star. This computer works fairly well, I just think the second hard drive was put in there to make you think you’d have more than the 128gb they gave you on the SSD. I swapped out my 128gb SSD for a 1TB SSD and now I’m modding Skyrim like crazy. I was expecting to have 2TB’s of storage to work with, but that second drive really doesn’t do much for gaming, as you can’t run mods from 2 separate partitions and you can’t merge the 2 hard drives together. I might run Ubuntu on the 2TB one and have a second OS, so I guess that’s somewhat of a bonus. For a little over $200, it’s not a bad rig. I’ve always wanted to do a budget optiplex build, so it’s a solid base to start from, considering my job doesn’t like to sell/ give us their old computers. I’ve changed my mind on this computer. It’s actually a fantastic place to start, the ssd kinda sucks, but you can get bigger ones fairly cheap. This rig is extremely capable out of the box, but I’ve really added to it. ... show more

  • Terrible after sales service
The machine worked well but one day after a couple of months the system stopped working. I would get a blue screen. I tried for several days to fix the issue myself and it seems that the memory gets overloaded. I contacted the seller and s/he told me the warrantee was up, tough luck. I expect a little better than that. Do not deal with, after sales service sucks. ... show more

  • WILL need tlc
Let’s start with the good, the computer is pretty fast right out of the gate, the processor is very good, however won’t allow an upgrade to win11, I prefer win10 so this wasn’t an issue for me, however at some point win10 won’t be supported and this will become obsolete, but that’s another 10 years out, so no biggie again. With zero modifications this computer will run xbox360/ps3 era games with ease, and some newer games on low/med, however the gpu isn’t meant for new games and won’t hit the minimum on newest games. Everything was easily identifiable and setup was a breeze. Now for the bad. I bought this at the beginning of November 2022, it is now the end of nov 2022, less than one month and the HDD that came with the computer began to fail, super loud ticking that made the computer unusable because it was too loud, luckily windows and everything is loaded on the 128gb SSD drive so I pulled the hdd and put another ssd I had from an old pc and the computer is running silent now. That would be about a $100 fix. I’ve encountered an issue two times where the gpu gets an error, and the computer needs a restart, the computer doesn’t ship with the gpu software installed so if you have visual issues, programs don’t go full screen properly, or there seems to be a lag to the video start with that. I also ran into an issue updating the drivers, you can’t just start with the newest one, you have to install the 2nd to last one, then the newest after, doing just the newest won’t fix the issue for some reason. Overall I believe this to be a good purchase, I read the reviews and was aware I was buying a refurbished product and there might be some issues I needed to resolve myself. I didn’t reach out to customer support as I expect any replacement parts will likely also be refurbished, and I’d rather use my own refurbished parts cause I know how they were treated. Thanks to the company I ordered it from for providing a cheap alternative, I was able to get my son a gaming pc for his birthday for under $300. I will do business with them again ... show more
