  • A Good PC
- a video port doesn't work, so the box will drive only one monitor. - the SATA SSD is old (an 8 year old SSD in a 3 year old box?), - the entire SSD is formatted, leaving no unpartitioned space on an old small SSD. - the SSD is a bit slowish, but then it's 128GB as advertised. - the Dell is not quite as quiet as an old Zbox or an original Asus Chromebox. + the HDMI adapter is an unadvertised bonus. + the power supply is a clean genuine Dell. + the case and internals are as clean as new. + SJ Computing's professional packing and prompt shipping is refreshing. + it provides efficient performance for the price + except for the video port, it all works fine. There is no USB-C, SD card reader, DVD drive, VGA or DVI port. There is a DisplayPort that works, and an HDMI port that does not work but the included HDMI adapter that plugs into the Display Port does work fine. There is a tiny onboard speaker. The case is metal! The Dell 3060 with I3-8100T was built in 2019. In initial experiments, it appears to meet speed, energy, and noise expectations. Passed Dell's ePSA test (CPU, memory, etc). Runs Windows 10 (from the provided SATA SSD) & Linux Mint 20 (from a new NVMe) just fine. Can be upgraded to Windows 11 (during setup Windows offered that option but I declined). Will boot from USB if the USB drive and PC are configured correctly. Ethernet and USB ports work fine as do analog and USB headphones. Did not try Wifi (dongle included) or a microphone. Adding an NVMe drive was easy. In a silent room, the PC (on a shelf below the keyboard) normally can just barely be heard. It is inaudible from a few feet when not stressed. A youtube video does not create stress. If stressed, e.g. by a demanding action game, the fan is clearly audible and can become loud. Typical for a small box. The old MLC SSD is a Samsung SM841 from ~2014. SATA 3. I'd generally leave 10% of an old small SSD unformated (less on a new larger SSD), but it's a personal preference thing. Supports TRIM. SMART info is unusual, but it may be that this drive has not seen a lot of use. This PC is 4+ stars except... overall, I'm impressed by a used computer that's in excellent condition, where everything that's important to me just works, with a warrantee, at a reasonable cost. 5 stars. Edit: I purchased my 3rd used Dell 3060 i3-8100t, this time from LAPro. It works perfect and it is almost silent. There was a minor issue and the vendor's response was no-hassle and quick. These little PCs meet my expectations in every respect. Small, powerful enough, efficient, NVME + 2.5" capable. Low heat and low noise. Some company (companies?) evidently replaced their 2019 PCs in 2022 and early 2023 and dumped the old ones. We benefit. ... show more

  • It's great, but needs TLC
It came with Windows and when I turned it on, it picked up wifi signals and would not let me skip this step. Another reason to run Linux. Opened it up, did a good job cleaning out the dust, underneath the fan, cIeaned it out more. I came with an Intel Wireless/Bluetooth m2 card. Removed and reset all memory, m2 devices. Boot LMDE6, UEFI install. Everything works.... until I disconnect power. It keeps losing the date and boot config everything the power is disconnected. And it turns on by itself when the power is reconnected. Replaced 2032 battery, reinstall linux, reset BIOS to factory defaults, flash updated BIOS (can be done from BIOS screen and USB drive), still losing BIOS settings on power disconnect. Searching online... Solution: remove motherboard jumper from JMP1 (pin 3-4), turn on, BIOS message will say password is reset, turn off, replace jumper and it's all fixed. Everything works. ... show more

  • Excellent value, albeit inconsistent product description
These inexpensive machines make an adequate desktop. They run Windows 11 well enough for non-graphics intensive tasks, like editing office documents, checking email, surfing the web, etc. However, this hardware also makes an exceptional headless Linux server. Unless your application requires gpio pins, skip the Raspberry Pi and buy one of these instead. You will get far better performance. I purchased three of these units, on three separate occasions. If I had a compliant, it would be that each time I received a slightly different machine. Be warned. The machine you get may not match exactly with the product description. 2 machines arrived with 128GB m.2 drive, while one arrived with 500GB 2.5" sata ssd. Two machines had wifi, while one did not. One machine arrived with a new-in-box keyboard and mouse, while the other two did not. Two machines had the blue plastic 2.5" sata drive tray, while one did not. Thankfully, they all arrived with a power supply. ... show more

  • Above & Beyond Expectations
Fast shipping, this micro pc went above and beyond my expectations. Although it was not in the listing this computer came a generic wired usb keyboard and mouse, it also came with built in WiFi and Bluetooth and the antenna came with it. Power adapter is a genuine dell power supply and the case was in pristine condition. Could be be happier 😍 ... show more

  • PC Tech of 30 years - Performance is awful - look for better deals on other models and brands.
All the Dell 3060 and 3060 Micro computers have a factory HOBBLED NVME bus! That means if you insert any true NVME hard drives, you will not surpass a read write of 1700 MBps. And that is if you have a top of the line, NVME, because performance is awful on lesser quality brands, the basic speed rating is deceptional because of performance drag once you get down to 4k files. I bought a Dell 3060 from a different seller and my tech assistant bought a 3070 and now we are desperate to unload these machines to clients who do not need speed. The 30x0 series are all chump models. I am not making this up... testing with Crystal Diskmark confirmed Samsung 970 Evo Plus drives with pathetic numbers.. and in start up, the machines were sluggish. These models should be blown out for $75 each and even then I wouldn't bother. There is no excuse for this deception by Dell on Intel 8th gen equipment, they should be sued. Only positive: I get great Wi-Fi performance. ... show more

  • Really very amazing very small PC
The Optiplex 3060 Micro is small, a little larger than a paperback novel. No fan noise, no overheating even when left on for hours. Easy to change a drive or add RAM. The best part is that you can update the Windows 10 Pro on the drive to Windows 11 Pro. All of this for less than $120.00. I bought two. Thus far I can't say enough good things about it. There is enough room for a 7mm 2 1/2 inch SSD in the case. It's an excellent platform. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Runs Windows 11
This refurbished 8th generation i3 was nicely packaged - just like new. No dust. No scratches. Seems fast. The machine wanted to install Windows 11 right after setup of Windows 10. Two hours later W11 running. Nice machine for little money. It even came with a wireless mouse and a keyboard. A USB WiFi, hdmi monitor and hdmi cable needed to be added to finish the setup. ... show more
