  • good hardware and cost effective to upgrade
The battery is excellent, the keyboard works, and the case is in good condition and its clean. The screen is also in good condition it has zero dead pixels. It came with a 128 gb ssd and when i examined the hardware with disk utilities while installing ubuntu the drive threw a prefail hardware warning but this is fine because i was going to remove it anyway. Go buy a cheap SATA III M.2 2280 Internal SSD 1-2 tb its a cheap upgrade that will speed the computer up. 50 usd vs 1 tb or 100 usd vs 2 tb. Go upgrade the ram from 4 gig to 16. Now the stated MAX RAM is 8 but it can actually support 16 so upgrade with this: Samsung 16GB DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400MHz, 260 PIN SODIMM, CL 17, 1.2V, ram Memory Module, M471A2K43CB1-CRC - its a 28 dollar cheap upgrade. Note the cpu is soldered to the board and is not removable, the board and cpu is considered expendable and not worth attempting to upgrade as you would damage pins. It supports 4k playback with zero lag in vlc + ubuntu and ran vs code without any issues also io read/writes @ 250mbs. It would be an excellent choice for a kid/teen's/grandma's first laptop since the cost is so low yet it has decent performance that beats high end tablet computers at 1/5 the cost is so low. Remember every computer has a use case, the hardware specs are good enough for most tasks but its not high end gaming hardware and not meant to be. If you are going to use the installed os on it (windows 11) it will be very under powered, install any linux distro and it will feel snappy when you use it. ... show more

  • Both a Great Product and Service
Service was prompt and the refurbished computer was exactly as advertised. No scratches, dings, or dents. The free shipping was an added plus. Very happy with this product.

  • Little battery life
I was happy with this laptop all through setting it up, but I had it plugged in and charging during that time. Once the battery was fully charged, I turned the laptop off and set it aside, expecting to use it soon. Circumstances changed and it sat for some weeks before I remembered it and figured I'd exhaust the battery and charge it back up to try to maintain battery health. So I turned it on unplugged, set it to never sleep, and set a long video playing on Youtube to drain the battery faster. The battery indicator was just barely a hair below full when I started (I didn't check percentage). I kept an eye on the indicator intermittently, and over the next half hour it dropped to no less than 75%. Then the laptop suddenly switched off (OFF, not asleep). I turned it back on to see a screen telling me the battery was low, and told it to proceed anyway. A moment later, it had fully started up and the battery indicator showed low battery, 6%. So it lost nearly 25% of battery in half an hour, then abruptly dove from ~75 straight to 6% and shut itself off in moments. Half an hour until the battery gets low enough that it shuts itself off--that isn't even anywhere near 50% original battery capacity. I am NOT happy. At least it still works while plugged in, but too much of that will make the already-trash battery more likely to go bad and become dangerous. ... show more
