I am more than thrilled with this laptop purchase. My previous Dell laptop was almost 10 years old, and I had started to run into issues (especially when doing things on the web). The new laptop boots up in under 15 seconds and the speed (both when I'm online and offline) is fantastic. The extra screen size (my old laptop had a 15-inch display, and this laptop has a 16-inch display with virtually the same footprint). The only thing I noted (which isn't an issue for me but might be for someone else) is that Dell chose to make the lightning bolt port the place where you put the power cord. I’ve been very satisfied with the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 so far. The laptop runs great, feels very fast, and handles multitasking without any problems. The Intel Core Ultra 7 processor combined with the 16-inch 2.5K display makes it excellent for work, streaming, browsing, and everyday use. The screen quality is sharp and looks really good. One thing I would recommend is using a laptop stand or something to slightly raise the laptop if you’re using it on a couch, sofa, or soft surface. It needs proper airflow underneath to help keep it cool. Without enough airflow, it can start getting very hot or feel like it’s overheating during heavier use. Came is a huge box, was handed directly to me by delivery driver, a first. Perfect condition, operating well, runs cool 40-59 range, and very quiet fans. Runs 109% on wireless but no delays and downloads quick. Video play back online is smooth. Touchpad responsive. Keyboard nice. Now, some minor cons. No hello we can but fingerprint button works well. No Ethernet port, and final is blue light reduction at night seems a bit less focused on display, but my spouse says no issue. Glad we purchased and of course delivered in 2 days! Took a little over an hour to download and install all the driver updates including new BIOS. v 2-7-25 Now noting frequent lagging, freezing during video playback, cursor just spins and spins and finally the video will play. Wireless speed is poor now, rechecked for missing software and drivers, rebooted my gateway, no change. Has become frustrating to use. Sending it back. Just too frustrating to use when you must wait for the link to open. My old wind 10 Chinese laptop built in 2012 starts videos faster than this dell. ... show more

I have used it for gaming and for other streaming and just normal use and it has all worked well! The laptop arrived overnight and was placed in a lager plain brown box so no one knew it contained a laptop. Works super well. I properly could have chosen another less expensive, I wanted RAM, 1 TB of storage, My other laptop just died the day before and it really cramped my remote production. Thanks to the gods, I have all my work stuff saved in the cloud! But my personal stuff is on the other laptop. Took it in for diagnosis and repair just to migrate from one to the other. I bought this computer aiming for something that just worked, with decent specs and not too much nonsense. Unfortunately, I forgot to include the functionality feature. It is now three months into having my fifteen hundred dollar computer. It does not open files, it lags in web browsers, and the idea of writing the code I bought it to do bring someone to hilarious laughters - or just the fans kicking in pretending something will happen. I would buy for: Dictators of enemy powers The person who stole your partner at the altar The teacher that failed you Editing my review several months later - do not buy for even the worst people you know. The customized laptop is great, quiet, and slim. The power brick is larger than I expected, but the Nvidia RTX 2060 is probably the reason.
