PLEASE READ THIS. IT’S ABOUT AMAZON’S RETURN POLICY. I’ll get to the Deeper Fish Finder afterwards. I obviously returned the Deeper and supposedly was issued a credit but my Amazon card didn’t reflect a credit ever being issued. I finally found a phone number for customer service, I still had to navigate through AI but once I did I was told by customer service that the credit was issued in the form of a gift card. I explained I didn’t have a gift card and wanted to know why it wasn’t credited to the card I purchased it with. They said they couldn’t transfer the gift card amount to my credit card because I had made a purchase and they deducted it from the gift card balance instead of adding it to my credit card. I explained I didn’t know about any gift card but they did nothing. It’s a total scam. So now I have to pay the charge for the Deeper I returned and the only thing the gift card can be used for is future purchases. I’M 100 % DONE WITH AMAZON!! Now about the Deeper Fish Finder I I took the Deeper Max to the lake and attempted to connect it to my phone but after an hour I gave up. Plus the fact that you have to pay $50 annually if you want all the benefits ($5.99 for 7 day trial) I know I’m not tech savvy but I can read instructions. I met my 20 year old grandson (who builds computers) at the community swimming pool with the Deeper Max and the Garmin STRIKER for a head to head comparison. My grandson had to go into my phone settings and finally got the Deeper to connect. It was accurate with water temperature, depth and structure (we used the steps inside the pool). We then pulled out the Garmin STRIKER and it connected immediately. The big difference according to my grandson is Deeper uses WiFi and Garmin uses Bluetooth. The Garmin was just as accurate and the graphics were identical. The Garmin does everything I need it to do for $100.00 less not including the $50 Deeper wants.

I had the original deeper & really enjoyed using it on the river. The new one is awesome because it continues to be wireless and it has a new mapping feature that allows you to scan you body of water & show you the structure and layout of the lake!

Nice unit which arrived extremely fast. The sonar and GPS work well but it lacks the one feature I bought it for. This model (Deeper Max) does not have real time mapping in bait mode or Bank mode. You can’t see the position of the Deeper in the app while in these modes so you don’t know which part of the lake is being mapped. The map only updates when you take it out of the water. This is very disappointing as I bought to tow with a bait boat to map a small lake fully. Without the real time position and mapping you can’t verify where to drive the boat to create the map fully. Other models have real time mapping in these modes so please do your research if this is something you need I’ll keep it for kayaking but have now ordered a Pro +2 also as that unit does display real time mapping and shows the position of the deeper in real time from its own gps. I should have done a little more research before selecting a model but why does this more expensive unit lack the basic feature on other deepers? Maybe it can be added by firmware in the future?

I've been using deeper for years kayaking and ice fishing. I love the portability and the app is really easy to use and full of awesome features. The new Max model is the next best addition to their sonar products. I love the 3D mapping it does, and I love how detailed the sonar is, super accurate.

I recently took the Deeper Max out to Willow Beach to test it while fishing from the shore and from my raft. I really wanted this to work for my fishing videos, but the tech is just not reliable enough for real-world use. The Major Issues: • Highly Inaccurate Depth: In open, clear water that was easily 20+ feet deep, the unit repeatedly insisted it was only 9 to 12 feet. Even when stationary, it couldn't give a consistent reading, which is dangerous when navigating a raft. • "Ghost" Fish vs. Reality: The sonar would show large schools of fish where there was nothing but open water. Conversely, I floated directly over several large Carp in clear water (about 7ft deep) that I could see with my own eyes, and the sonar picked up absolutely nothing. • Constant Connection Drops: Even when not moving, the app would constantly pop up with "Keep Submerged" or lose connection entirely. If you're in a raft with any kind of current, it becomes unusable. • Poor Instructions/Settings: The app hand-holds you through how to screw in a bolt, but it doesn't explain the actual settings that matter. I found out the hard way that the default 50% sensitivity actively deletes real data and that "Fish Icons" are basically just a guessing game that hides actual fish sitting in grass. Bottom Line: I shouldn't have to be a sonar engineer to get a basic depth reading. If you're looking for a "plug and play" device for a raft or kayak, look elsewhere. I'm returning this and going back to a more reliable brand.
