The material for the walls on this is sturdy, but the top is flimsier than tulle and I don't really understand the point of it. It's as good as not having a top layer, so why bother? I'll try it for a season and hope this doesn't lose too much heat and end up killing my plants.

when i saw these, i thought i would easily be able to just slip it right over a couple of my taller plants. i wasnt wrong, although i think i could have done it a little easier. i think, don't pop it up until you have it around the base of your plant. the top unzips, so you can just drop it over the top and then pop it up. then you just stuff any parts that might be hanging out and zip it back in. don't pop it and then try to drop it over, sometimes it might work but it can also be a lot more work than you anticipated. once you have it placed though, it's great. i like that i can pop it up over night but if it gets a little warmer in the day or the sun comes out i can easily let my plants enjoy that for awhile as well. and then when i am done for the season, i can scrunch them back up and tuck them away till next winter. it's nice to have cold weather options for my plants. ... show more

One of the problems I have is that sometimes we get late frosts or even snows that end up killing my fragile starts. I learned from a friend to wrap them. The DIY version is to use cling-wrap over your tomato cage. This works for a while, but it also makes it hard to remove the cling wrap when it's time and if it gets too hot, it can scorch some of the leaves. I'm hoping these pop ups will provide the warmth and airflow that my tomato starts will need, they look like they will and still be able to provide an environment that's not too soggy or too dry. When they get tall enough, I can open the top and eventually remove the popup, and my hope is, since there's nothing for the plant to wrap around, that I'll be able to remove the popup with few issues. ... show more
