I got this for my grandkids to keep their toys. It was quite simple to put together and is really quite sturdy. I found the lock I tried to put on it VERY difficult to access to put in the combination - I would probably have to use a key version if we needed to lock it again but then that means everyone can't have easy access (I know the key would get lost). It fits nicely on the side of their balcony and has been water and snow tight so far.

This review is for the 100-gallon model. Everything goes together easily, ONCE YOU FIGURE OUT WHICH PIECES ARE WHICH AND WHICH WAY IS UP! Study the instructions carefully, and keep them handy. The letter of each piece is engraved, sometimes very lightly, on the inside of the piece. I started out with the 2 ends (which are identical) upside down and on the wrong side. Fortunately, I could undo the snaps at that stage by just pressing down and letting them pop out. Once I had them on the right side and the right way up, everything went together easily. The D on the bottom ends up on the inside too. If something doesn't snap together, it means you have the wrong piece or have it the wrong way around. The lack of the 5th star is for two reasons: the manufacturer could have made this a lot easier just by more clear and easy-to-find labeling of the pieces; and the claim to support 400 pounds once it's put together does not mean you can sit on it! It still feels flimsy. Put weights on the bottom, or anchor it to the deck, to keep it in place. I strongly recommend you put at least a wire in the lock channel to keep the lid down, and critters out. I was going to build something from wood to serve this purpose, but this is so much faster, easier, and less expensive I decided to do this instead.

Like all of these type of "assembly required" for the most part it snaps together. The first few pieces can be a real PITA to get together due to pieces being too flexible, but once you get it started it can really go quickly. Only tool needed is a Phillips head screwdriver to put the lid supports on. The box seems roomy enough for what I need. I am using it to store outdoor chair cushions and it will fit four with a few other smaller items. The lid supports are very stiff, but I am assuming it is from being new and they will ease up in time. Yes, it is plastic, but seems strong and durable. It also seems to be water resistant, but if it is in an area the could have even small flooding issues, then it could MAYBE leak. If in an outside area like a deck not prone to flooding, it should do fine. It looks very nice once assembled and I didn't notice any smell either good nor bad.
