  • Excellent Hitchcock Inspired Korean Thriller -One The Year's Best
One of the best films of the year, and winner at Cannes for best director Park Chan-wook, Decision To Leave (2022) is an artistic, captivating, exceptionally well done thriller and a great entry in Korean cinema. A complex and suspenseful well written story, visually haunting, with superb acting and direction. Definitely reminiscent of Hitchcock's Vertigo with a touch of Basic Instinct (with more class), and much more refined and restrained than the director's typical work, yet passionate, dreamy, and very dark. My favourite Korean film since Parasite (2019). Special features include some interviews and behind the scenes content. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Difficult to review.
Korean Romeo and Juliet, a love tragedy. I absolutely fell in love with Tang Wei as I assume was the director's intent. 4 stars because it was hard to follow, especially while reading subtitles.

  • SURPRISING AND THOUGHTFUL
Another fine example of film-making from Korea. Great story and excellent actors make for a complex web of emotions and life experience. What begins as a murder investigation turns into a deep reflection on the nature of love and human emotions. Strongly recommended

  • Moody but funny in some places.
Liked the double life the detective winds up living. Liked the funny bits. Overall an excellent film. Not at all like his other films such as “Oldboy”. Much less graphic. Much less violent.

  • I tried hard to like it
This movie had some great cinematography and is worth watching for that reason. This is a difficult movie to follow and in my view just didn't flow. It was my hope that it would have been all stitched together in the end but that never happened. It just ended.

  • Why only one (one-star) review?!
This film is thoroughly enjoyable throughout despite being dark and confusing and troubling. Great performances. Tight script. Lovely to gaze upon. Heartbreaking story. And it might lead one to explore the history between these two nations. Check out Rotten Tomatoes. Or IMDB. Or, if you have actually seen this, come on, throw some stars at it! ... show more
