  • Good Alternator from DB Electrical!
Installed this in my 1998 Honda Accord LX, 2.3L. Install was straightforward and the alternator fits perfectly. This fixed my alternator issue and my car runs great now. Don't have any info on how long it will last, but I trust DB Electrical, so I have confidence. I purchased a DB Electrical starter a while back and that performed great, so I trust that this alternator will hold up nicely. ... show more

  • 2000 Honda Accord EX L4 // 269k miles
Firstly, I had to jump my car the previous night to get back home. I knew the alternator was going out a week prior so I had ordered it a few days beforehand. To add to that, The product came 1 day early so that is already a bonus. I was super happy! My accord has 269k mines and the alternator finally went out. Looked for a replacement and Orielly wanted almost $200.... the same thing on Honda's website. So I came to Amazon and found this one. After looking at a few different ones, I decided on this one. The review seems mostly positive compared to the others. It fit right out the box. As mentioned above, After the install I had to jump my car as it finally died from the previous night. I let it run for 20 minutes. Then, took it for a ride around the block and onto the freeway for another 10mins with all my lights and AC, etc on this time. Later that night went to my niece's house which is 1hr12mins(70miles) and came back home. No problems at all. I'm very satisfied. I will add to this post as time passes to if any issue occurs or if I hit a milestone and it's still performing great! 10/10 Great deal! ... show more

  • FAULTY ALTERNATOR
I was very excited to receive this alternator because my car has been having issues and my mechanic told me to get a new one. When I received this alternator I replaced my old one with it immediately. First, of all, it was VERY difficult to install. The part was not the correct size for my 2000 honda accord. I had to tap the alternator to make it fit inside and after I finally got it installed, it caused a short circuit in my car and it blew put my 100A fuse. This alternator gave me so many headaches and it messed up more things with my car than I had before. This was horrible! Please do not waste your money on this. I went to AutoZone after I returned this and I got one from them which was a little more expensive but it works PERFECTLY! The alternator fit perfectly in and it was super quick to install. Overall I'm not happy with my experience and will not be buying from here again ... show more

  • Good Alternator, Flip Spacer If Needed
Arrived quickly, well packed. Clean and perfect condition. Installed on a 1998 Honda Accord LX Sedan, 4 cylinder. Mounted easily, runs well. Does not include the wiring harness hold down bracket, but that bracket can be easily be transferred from the old alternator if needed. A couple of people have mentioned the replacement alternator's upper bracket is too snug to fit into the alternator mount, and they had to file the bracket and/or mount... this is unnecessary. On the right side of the alternator's upper bracket is a spacer that has been pressed into place. Tap or knock the spacer loose, flip it over and put it back in place. Then the alternator's upper bracket will slide into the alternator mount. When installing the new alternator, start at the bottom... tilting the alternator slightly to the right. So you can get the slider bolt, nut, and tensioner bolt in place. Double check the belt to make sure it is on the pulleys correctly, it tends to slip off. With the alternator all the way down, if the belt is too snug to pull onto the alternator pulley... the belt may have snagged on a bolt just above the lower rear crankshaft pulley, belt needs to be below that bolt not on it. ... show more

  • Cheaper than dealer, so far working
Strive to give detailed reviews so other people can make informed decisions. Paid $111 vs - $350 at the dealer. The main mounting bracket was about 5/128ths inch too wide, had to file down. The nut holding the wire harness (you have to re-use the original bracket or Gerry rig a solution) was difficult to re-install since the new alternator’s shield was in the way, I had to bend it out of the way. In all about 1.5 hours to install. Would have been faster if the part fit right out of the box. New alternator measured 14.3 volts at idle, about right. I replaced my original alternator (2001 Accord Ex 4 door, 248k miles) because of the P1381 code (intermittent crankshaft sensor). Voltage output was high enough but per the internet the code is most likely caused by a dirty alternator putting out too much AC and causing the sensor to give bad data. It happened often when the car was hot (long drives) or when there was a lot of electrical load (lights, power window, radio, etc). I tested this by driving slow (low alt. output), turned on high beams, turned on all interior lights, operated all the power windows, turned up the radio all at the same time). With original alt. check engine light immediately came on, engine would miss, car would stutter. With new alt. car ran fine. Tested 3 times to verify. I assume problem solved. Next step will be to take on a long drive to test when hot. Will report back in 6 months to update how the alt. is working. I only plan to keep the car another 4 or 5 more years, didn’t want to spend a lot at the dealer. I looked into replacing the original alt. diodes but had a hard time finding the parts. Maybe another option. ... show more

  • So far so good.
This alternator was very easy to install. I am not a mechanic. That should tell you: most anyone can install this thing. Keep in mind that it's only been in use for about a month so I cannot speak to its longevity but...so far so good.
