My alternatir went out a week ago, and the local shops wanted 250+ for a remanufactured alternator. I read the reviews about this alternator and even though Amazon says it would not fit my truck(2002 f250 7.3l), the reviews said it would. I got the alternator a day early(which I was extremely grateful for) and it fit right in. I tested the alternator and it works great, hardest part about the install was getting the electrical connector off of the old alternator( the grey electrical connector, not the battery feed). It took about ten minutes even with the connector being stubborn. So far really happy with the purchase, it works, it's new(it came with pulley too, easiest possible alternator change out) and it did not cost a small fortune. ... show more

    • Good alternator and unbeatable price
I have used DB Electrical alternators in my old 6.2 diesel and my wife's Accord for years. They work perfectly and are about half the price of a rebuilt alternator from any auto part chain. This alternator wasn't any different. Arrived within days, took a whole15 minutes to swap it onto our 2000 7.3 Powerjoke. It even came with a sheet showing the power output from when they tested it at the factory and it made a little more than advertised. After installing it we turned on everything to make sure it made enough amps for running everything. Turned on the headlights, defrosters, front and back heaters, seat heaters, stereo... everything that we could think of. The voltage never dropped below 13.5 at idle. It is winter and the cold advance bumps up the idle a bit. That being said, I have not had any dead batteries after 2 weeks of running it. ... show more

    • Factory fit but won’t kick up charge at idle
This alternator was priced right, fit perfect and charges well . . . EXCEPT when I first start my diesel and idles. The charge does not kick up past 12v until I start driving and engine rpm rises up to about 2,000 RPM. The alternator then starts kicking out 14v or so and will then maintain that charge even when RPM drops back to idle. There is something weird about why it won’t start charging until hits higher RPM and then it’s “magic switch” is triggered. I have never had an alternator do that before. ... show more

    • Good alternator for the money
DB seems to make good products, so I ordered this alternator for a 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3. Currently, I have a local (national) parts store reman installed and have went thru 3 in a year. I haven't installed this yet, but for the price it is a good unit for a back-up.
