The important factors with smart bulb is longevity, quality, and how easy it is to setup and connect to Alexa or Google Home for the price. As for Longevity... I haven't had the bulbs installed long enough to make a determination. Quality... These bulbs are certainly lighter than other different brands of smart bulbs that I've purchased. As such, the certainly "feel cheaper", but whether or not this ultimately PROVES to be true remains to be seen. That said, I did feel these bulbs were slightly "less bright" than other brands I've used in the past (Hue, Cync, others). In addition, 1 of the 6 bulbs in the pkg arrived defective and is unable to turn on. Disappointing for sure, but not worth the time and effort to return. Configuration was a breeze. After downloading the app, it quickly found each of the powered on bulbs. Nice little feature was the bulb blinked to indicate it was being configured and then turned green, once successfully added. Each bulb was wifi enabled, which I prefer vs GE Cync bulbs, which use Bluetooth. Finally, enabling the skill in Alexa, it quickly found and added my new bulbs. It took perhaps 10 minutes to configure 5 bulbs individually. Overall, some of the quality issues aside, I'm impressed with these bulbs, and it's hard to beat the price offered. I strongly recommend these for most general, basic usage. They're moderately bright and have a good array of control (namely the color temperature goes behind just two settings, but operated as a range). If you're not looking to use it with a smart home, you might want to check their store for the bluetooth only variant which is a little cheaper. The wifi however works readily with my Home Assistant set up with negligible setup. Some highlights: * Soft lighting, even when set to cooler temperatures the light is still fairly diffuse and soft * Transition between colors: Color/White and brightness changes aren't instance but fast, depending on your tastes and needs this could be a positive or negative. Even when turning off and on from the light switch it will transition instead of instantly cutting to the new color/brightness. (Personally I love this because there's no getting blinded by a flipped light switch) * ID based connections in both app and smart home: no need to set up ip addresses * Two way connection: smarthome and app can read the device state and detect it being offline * Local protocol: the connection to the lights is local, no internet is needed, no reliance on hubs or cloud services. ... show more

    • Worked great for a few months, then it started going "offline"
All worked great for the first few months after setting it up. Then one morning I wake up come downstairs and it's on. I assume my husband left it on. Turned it off. Couple days later same thing happens. Turns out when the bulb goes offline it turns on an alternate colors and brightness. It's fairly easy to put back on the network, but it will come back off within a few days. Also, I don't think the colors were accurate from the beginning. Overall, these are nice to have, and I love being able to go into a room and have voice activated lights! That said, there are a few issues: The colors aren't as bright a light as I expected. Not too bad, but could be better. They don't keep their "off" setting - when the power went out and came back on, every light was turned on. Fortunately my electric company notifies me of outages and restoration, so I could use the app to turn everything off. Sometimes they randomly have to be recognized, and/or reset/reconnected to the modem. Using them with Alexa, if they get reset I have to go in and re-add them to my groups, even though the Magic Home app remembered the device name. I also have had issues with Alexa recognizing the group name from Magic Home app. The Magic Home app is the only way to create routines for different lighting effects, such as strobe or color-changing cycles. Then you have to add that named setting to an Alexa routine, so, between the initial recognition of each device, connecting it to a group, and recreating a group within Alexa, even if you're not doing anything too fancy, it takes some time to set everything up, and it's annoying to have to re-do group or routine settings in the Alexa app if the device falls off the system. That's more of an Amazon issue with their app, but it should be mentioned since the ability for voice control through Alexa is why I got these lights.
