I had a car repair issue and knew it was head gasket or my timing went out due to bad tensioner and or guides. This confirmed my timing jumped since a couple intake valves hit piston. The image is Crystal clear and with no magnification you can use in bore. The lights adjustable and can be made brighter , I didn't use that feature. I liked the thumbwheel control as well. This is the cheapest borescope you can get that will do a 180 and is only about ten dollars more than a good brand scope with no articulation. It will also magnify up to 4x but in a bore isn't needed. For those wanting to see valves a word of warning, you can see them but there is no image reduction feature so unless you turn engine and put piston at bottom of every hole you inspect, it's too close to valves to be useful. If valves hit all you really need to see is piston, it will show there and head has to come off valve guides replaced etc , even if they appear "normal" so not too much point looking to see if there's visible bend. This unit is fairly sturdy for a do it yourselfer or someone who only needs it for one project if I were a pro mechanic I would probably want one more rugged. The catch 22 is the best brands have no articulating version even snap on wants you to use a little morror that sucks on a 300.00 unit. This went in a 14mm plug hole. Image is surprising sharp I recommend at this price point you can't beat it. ... show more

I purchased this borescope with high expectations, as it was initially advertised as a 16.5 ft cable with improved 2.0 quality. Unfortunately, they have since changed the specifications. The generic borescope serves its purpose for small spaces like car engines or drains. However, the picture quality, especially in darker areas, is not the greatest. The 3.3 ft cable limitation can be restrictive, and its placement at the bottom of the mount makes it challenging to access angles and deep spots comfortably. In my opinion, it's not worth the price, falling between higher-quality borescopes with more features, including a triple lens. The 3.3 ft cable seems a bit limiting for the cost. The articulating feature, while its unique selling point, is also challenging to use unless, as mentioned earlier, you're working on car repairs, dealing with drains, or inspecting small spaces. Consider alternatives with better features before deciding on this one. ... show more

Let's get this out there right off the bat, I thought this may just come in handy around the house at some point. In other words I am not a mechanic, a plumber or any other professional that would have a special use for this borescope. I also cannot compare to any other and that includes the price. The only thing I tried to see with this was what was under the refrigerator and that I could do. The image wasn't the highest quality but it seemed rather clear for the most part. The quality seems like relatively inexpensive plastic/build and I don't know how long it would last in the real professional world. I could see using this to see what is in a wall, behind a cabinet etc. but doubt professionals would be interested in it, especially since it doesn't take pictures or videos. Charging it is easy with the type C cable set-up. The listed $39.99 is relatively inexpensive but again, I have nothing to compare that to. ... show more

Let's get right to it - I got this for those, "I wish I could see in there" moments in my life. It could be inspecting an engine on some piece of equipment to see if it is getting carboned up, or more likely, to look into a wall cavity in my house. I have never had one of these before, so I can't compare it to anything. It does just what I need it to, so that's why I've rated it 5 stars. I included two pic's, but I must say that the pic's in the Amazon listing do a good job representing it. My picture of the fruit in the basket does not do the product justice - the colors are off and it doesn't look very "crisp". It looked much better in person, but wanted to include it with this review. I tried something that I could not get a picture of because I needed 3 hands! I used the product to read the instructions that come with it. It's fairly small type and I could easily read it on the screen, which I thought was great. If for some reason I had to read a model number of an appliance or something like that, I could with this tool. The other reason for my 5 stars is that it seems like a bargain to me at the current price point of $40. All of that said, I think it comes down to what you need it to do. If you need to take pictures with this, maybe to show a customer if you were a car mechanic, then this is not the tool for you. You will have to pay more to get one with that feature. Like others, I often find myself in situations in which I wish I could see around a corner, or into a hole, or through a wall. Well, now I can! This unit is an incredible value for what it's capable of. I recently had a mysterious leak coming from my upstairs bathroom and leaking into the kitchen below. I had to pay a plumber to cut multiple holes in my ceiling to try and discover the source of the leak. Those holes all had to be patched, textured, and painted. I could have avoided all that time and cost had I just known about this unit sooner, as it would have allowed me to drill a small hole (or maybe a few small holes) and then investigate from below. Note that the cord is not super rigid, which makes it easier to navigate through things like pipes, but could make it somewhat difficult to navigate around corners or to retrieve dropped items. Nonetheless, this is a good all around unit that can do a bunch of things relatively well. Where it shines, in my opinion, is the versatility and the picture quality. It's honestly incredible to me that you can get such a good, clear, and bright picture for such a small price. Honestly, at $40 I think every homeowner should have one of these on hand for those moments when it will inevitably come in handy! ... show more
