  • Basically and xbox 360
if your thinking about buying this, its definitely a good system, performance wise after you install the latest amd drivers and aslo reccomend installing direct x as well its identical to an xbox 360, its good for Need For Speed Most Wanted 2012 at medium settings 30fps sometimes you will get away with max settings on most 7th gen games from 2012 and 2000, just imagine running console like graphics settings it runs windows 10 and battery life when runng older games is an hour to an hour and a half. its definitally not perfect but its also a decent system. i definitely recommend this. will not run Halo Combat Evolved due to Direct 3d error, will not run Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4 without problems with the controls and also Driv3r has control problems as well, other games you will have to tinker with, and recommend a usb keyboard to creat user name for games like Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2, Driver Parallel Lines, and BLUR, Racing games or other games. ... show more

  • It is what it is ...
Style: BLACK
Bought this unit on a whim. I was worried abou tthe specs and messaged the seller. I was assured that the unit was current and that it shipped with Win 11 out of the box. I looked at all of the specs and the processor while introduced 5 years ago, is still offered by AMD as a current processor. The memory and the drive specs are acceptable. The sticking point was that when I tried to activate Windows, I was hit with the invalid product key error, instructing me to go to the windows store and purchase a genuine copy of windows. I reported this to the seller who asked for a picture of the error screen, which I provided. They then said they needed to pass it off to their IT department and then went dark. I let them know I was going to start a refund with Amazon and they just replied with "okay frend". OK, back to the unit itself. As mentioned at the outset, the specs are mediocre at best. The unit is well put together, and the quality of the build is impressive for the price point. The graphics were acceptable, but the sound was a little tinny. Gameplay is OK for non FPS games, older FPS games are good, but gameplay of more power-intensitive FPS games in a little choppy. Ergonomically, I had some issues with the unit. The back was too smooth to get a decent hold of and it has no rubberized grips to help me keep hold of the unit while gaming. Aside from the windows activation issue above, the setup was standard for any Windows-based PC. Bottom line, it is a decent, but completely budget unit. If it is what you want, go ahead and buy it, I won't warn you off, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it either. ... show more

  • Not great as a gaming machine OR computer
Update May 2023: This thing basically stopped working after applying the Windows 11 upgrade. It never really worked that great under Windows 10, either. There has been one problem after another since I got it, and I strongly recommend against purchasing this. The processor really can't handle much, the OS glitches frequently, and it is overpriced on top of everything else. I have a Celeron-based laptop I paid $250 for in February that runs better than this thing. --ORIGINAL REVIEW-- This will probably go down as my most regrettable purchase of 2023. It's oddball configuration as partly a Windows PC, but partly a handheld gaming console makes it ill-suited for either task. It really doesn't have the horsepower to run anything contemporary in terms of games. Yes, I was able to get my entire MAME library on the 256GB SSD and it does work great for that. But, I have other Linux-based devices under $200 that can boast the same accomplishment. I could not get RetroArch to work very reliably, mainly due to the fact the device's controller can't be read simultaneously with the mouse. It was practically impossible to configure the controller because of this design. On my actual netbook PC, I can run RetroArch without any problems, because my mouse and gamepad aren't on the same switch. The screen is nice. The build is solid. Battery life seems good. Unfortunately, the hardware is lacking for anything but 80s, 90s, and early 2000s games with no serious 3D component. This won't cut it for most people looking for an alternative to a Steam deck. It really couldn't even handle simple PS2 games on RetroArch. I have an Android-based handheld which cost $180 that can do a better job with most early PS2 titles. There are probably some niche gamers who might find this device useful. I'm not in that category. If you want to use it as a tiny computer, you'll need a keyboard and physical mouse. Trying to type or do anything on the touchscreen is very cumbersome. So, I can't even say I'd like to use this machine for browsing the internet. $375 is too much money for something that is cool in theory, but frustrating in practical use. While I'm tempted to return it for a refund, I probably will not. Amazon shouldn't have to pay for a losing bet I made while gambling with my own common sense. If you're on the fence about buying this, err on the side of caution. This handheld really doesn't live it up to its hype. ... show more

  • A pretty pleasant suprise

I want to get one thing out of the way: I paid Amazon prices to ensure the money-back guarantee in case something happens. Through extensive research on this product, many reviewers commented on battery issues, screen issues, button issues, etc. I haven't encountered any of these problems so far—perhaps it's too early to tell—but so far, so good.** **I upgraded the RAM to 16GB using the Crucial 3200MHz one, following Retro Game Corp's steps on YouTube to enhance this system. My primary goal was to tinker and push this unit to its limits. So far, I’ve been quite pleased with the results.** **Admittedly, you won't get AAA games running at 60fps, or even a smooth 30fps, but if you lower your expectations by a generation or two, older games play quite smoothly. Everything feels pretty decent on this device.** **I wish there was an SD/mono SD slot, but I'll make do with the USB-A and connect an external drive. For indie games, retro, or older titles, this device isn’t bad. The battery life is okay, though other companies offer better options. If you enjoy tinkering and adjusting settings, this might be worth your time.** ... show more
