  • It's MY guitar now!!!
Color: Black
BEFORE I ordered this guitar I just couldn't BELIEVE that they could sell it so cheap so I inquired of other purchasers and even the seller. After relative assurances that they were actually selling the guitar for the advertised price I decided to purchase it. When the guitar arrived I was so THRILLED! I was like a freakin' kid in a candy store. Couldn't help but get on it immediately and start strumming....not knowing how to play, but I didn't care, I was enjoying MY guitar!!! I have been wanting a guitar for like....FOREVER! I just couldn't stop laughing for joy! I pulled everything out to make sure it was all there. Nothing was missing. I set it up and started to get down. Of course I had to crank up my Galaxy S4 to video the whole event.....my first ever notes played on a guitar, so when I get famous I can sell that video for a MILLION DOLLARS! I'm no guitar aficionado, but looking at it, strumming on the strings, feeling the frets..nothing was amiss. Because of some critical reviews I decided to take it to the local guitar shop to let the "experts" look at it. I told them to re-string and tune it for me and the repair guy told me those strings were fine. He did say it is still good to change strings on any guitar, even from their shop when you first buy it because you don't know how long the guitar has been sitting in warehouses, on shelves etc I told him to proceed with the re-stringing. Before he started though he plugged my guitar in his amp and started playing and said the strings sounded good already. I told him change the strings anyhow then I will know what fresh strings sound like so I can compare the sound to when I strum the poop out of my guitar within a couple months time period. Gotta learn these things at some point in time you know and of course you need some base measurement to compare other sounds to. After the repairer re-strung it and tuned it he plugged it into his amp again and started playing. I told him it was a inexpensive guitar I bought off of Amazon. He asked how much I paid for it and I told him $67. He couldn't believe it and told me my guitar sounded great! He said a lot of more expensive guitars don't sound as good as mine does, but the repair guy KEPT playing my guitar. What The....? GIMME MY GUITAR MAN!!! He was trying to enjoy MY guitar a little bit too much so I stuck my hands over the counter and he relinquished it. I left that store knowing I had bought a great guitar at a great price because I had gotten an unbiased, expert opinion. I highly recommend buying this guitar kit for anyone who wants a great starter kit. ... show more

  • A Lightweight Beauty!
Full Disclosure: I originally ordered this Davison "bundle" via Amazon, but unfortunately it was lost in transit (not Amazon's fault) and I was given a refund, promptly and with no questions asked. So, not long after that, I went ahead and ordered just the guitar (the white one with the dark board) directly from the Seller, via another popular website. It arrived promptly yesterday. My favorite thing about this guitar is its "way-lighter-than-average" weight-- so darn easy to pick up and play. And it looks beautiful. It has a single (bridge-position) humbucking pickup that sounds surprisingly hot and throaty. And the Tone control works quite effectively without creating a muffled mess. If you back it down by about one-third, it gives you a very respectable "neck-position" tone. So you're not always locked into a bridge-position vibe with this guitar. Upon receiving the guitar, I adjusted the action height and intonation at the bridge; tweaked (tightened) the truss rod so as to reduce the "relief" in the neck; refreshed the somewhat thirsty-looking fretboard with one of my Ernie Ball fretboard wipes; buffed up the frets with a super-fine steel wool pad; and put on a new set of strings (D'Addario 10's). The one thing that was a little problematic was the nut, which sat a little too tall in its slot and thus caused first-position action to be difficult, and first-position chords to fret sharp. So I very carefully pried the nut from its slot (snapping it in half in the process), grabbed another pre-slotted strat-style nut that I found amongst my miscellaneous guitar-related stuff, sanded it down to get the proper thickness and height, and then re-strung. I'm in the habit of doing this kind of work by simply "eyeballing" things, and I lucked out this time. The guitar now plays very comfortably and accurately, and now I have a gig-worthy instrument. I've been playing for 58 years, so I've developed a basic level of competence in making the above-mentioned tweaks and improvements to an electric guitar. But if you aren't comfortable tackling those tasks yourself, you can bet that the in-house tech guy at your local music store will be able to do it for you at a reasonable price. ... show more

  • cool guitar for the price :)
Color: Black
i got this guitar because i was intrestead in learning how to play the guitar. with no musical experience what so ever i even knew this guitar was very cheap. so i just bought it just to try it out and beacuse many people have written good reviews on it. i was waiting with no high expectations on this guitar. when i got the guitar was very nice and the amp is very small but it does pack a powerfull sound only thing too much buzzing but not loud enough to annoy you. and it didnt come looking just like the picture but it was still nice (i was expecting it to look like the pic and it didnt so only 4 stars) it came with everything it said it comes with and evrything works fine but the tuner so i use an online tuner. overall its a a very nice guitar for the price and it works good so if your having second thoughts people just buy it its very good just make sure to check everythings working fine so if somethings worng you can return it. ... show more
