Darn tough are the best wool socks hands down. Micro crew are great for shorter boots or if you just want a little more height than ankle socks. Best warranty of any company I’ve ever heard of. So soft and so comfortable Can’t go wrong with darn tough.

You know that "new sock" feeling? Tom Brady, when he was in college at the University of Michigan, before he won all those Super Bowls, was once asked by a teammate what he would do if he ever signed a big contract in the NFL. He said he would always wear new socks that were fresh out of the package because of the way they feel on your feet. I started buying Darn Tough socks about five years ago after seeing enough reviews and Reddit posts about their high quality and lifetime guarantee. Since then, I've built a collection of 20-25 pairs in various cuts and compositions. This particular kind (hiker micro-crew with cushion) is the only type of sock I wear with my Red Wing Iron Ranger boots. And just like my boots, Darn Tough socks are made in the USA (Vermont). The price makes a lot of people hesitant, and I get that, but these socks really are worth every penny. Darn Tough stands by their lifetime guarantee and will replace your socks should they form a hole or a rip or whatever. I've seen posts on Reddit backing that claim up, but I haven't ever had to take them up on it myself because all of my Darn Tough socks are exactly like they were on the first day I received them, despite countless washings and dryings. I've tried all different brands of socks, and some are pretty good, but none are as good as Darn Tough. Tom Brady would approve. ... show more

I’m disappointed, product not appropriate for long distance hiking. These socks do not form fit around the large and small toes causing walking discomfort and blistering. Socks seems to be well made and time will tell if they are tough.

Washed and dried these socks per directions on the package before trying them on - unfortunately they shrunk down from a Men's size L (10-11.5 us) to what I estimate as a woman's size 8 as they fit really snuggly on my wife's feet. I could not even get them over my toes they were so tight. So I am a little disappointed. I might buy another pair in XL to give them a chance. The Vermont Hiker has a design resembling a tube sock which causes it to bunch up at the bend in the ankle resulting in a tight and uncomfortable fit. Very disappointing for such an expensive sock. This one is being returned.
