  • Wow! Fixed my weedeater.
I have a Troy Bilt weedeater/power head thing, I don't remember when I bought it, but probably 4 to 5 years ago. Having gummed up a lot of carburetors over the years by leaving fuel in the carb and tank, with this unit I've been religious about emptying the tank at the end of the year and running the engine until it stops, then hanging it with the fuel tank down, so no residual fuel flows into the carb. Also it's only ever had the way-too-expensive pre-mixed gas with no ethanol from Lowes. So I went to start it the other day and it wouldn't start, whereas it always started right up when following the pumping/choking/pulling/throttle instructions printed on the breather cover. I verified the spark plug was clean and it was sparking, so I figured it must be the carburetor. Then I noticed that the machine has the proprietary Troy Bilt "jump starter" system, so I ordered that too-expensive part, hoping to save having to tear the carb down. That came in the mail from Amazon, but even using it with a corded 1350 rpm drill didn't start the machine, even using ether. So I took the carb off, tore it down into its bigger chunks, and soaked them for 20 minutes in a gallon can of carb cleaner I have. Blew it all out with compressed air, re-installed it, hit it with the drill, and........nothing. Didn't even try to catch. So I came to Amazon and looked up that model of Troy Bilt, thinking I'd buy another one so I'd know it would fit the attachments I have (I know they're pretty standard, but there are at least 2 variations of drive splines out there, and that burned me on an edger once ). As I was typing in the model number, Amazon offered "carburetor" after it, so I thought, "Sure, let me check out how expensive a whole new carburetor is." (Because the engine felt and sounded like it had good compression, and it was sparking, so it almost had to be a fuel issue.) I was flabbergasted when I saw how cheap some of these carbs are, so I took a chance for 16.88, got it 2 days later, slapped it on, followed the starting directions, and the machine started up on the 4th pull on choke position 2, just like it was supposed to in "3-5 pulls." I let it run for 30 seconds while holding full throttle, turned off the choke, released the throttle, and it immediately dropped to a nice idle speed and sat there purring like a kitten. I didn't have an attachment on, but blipped the throttle a couple times and it responded immediately and felt powerful. I have no doubt that it's going to run properly, and they even included the adjusting tool in case it needs a little bit of tweaking. IF YOUR POWER HEAD/WEEDEATER DOESN'T START, BUY ONE OF THESE CHEAP CHINESE CARBURETORS! I've messed with engines all my life, and I really didn't think this was going to work (because I'd cleaned out the old carb), but it absolutely did. A 10-minute swapout and I'm back in business. The next time a small engine gives me trouble the first thing I'm going to do is come to Amazon and buy a cheap carburetor for it. ... show more

  • Quality and included items.
Troy Built 25cc string trimmer, bought in 2007. Has worked well over the years used three seasons a year in a southern environment. Bought 12 acers in the country, since moving it was problematic at best. Had spark but would not run consistently. Had cleaned the carburetor several times. It would start and I managed to use it, this is a tough environment. Next time I tried to get it started it fired once but nothing after that. Took it apart and cleaned it up, checked the spark, fresh non-ethanol gas, carb cleaned again. Pump works, no start. I ordered this replacement carburetor kit. Installed it, everything fit great, used the supplied yellow hose and filter replacing the existing ones. Surprised there is not a choke installed. The other carburetor would not start since new without the choke on. Three pulls on the starting cord it fired up and ran like it was new. Multiple times around the property I used it, then mowed areas. Moved on to another location, started up after three pulls, ran like a champ every time. It was a hard workout for this residential tool, it took the workout all day long. I did some research on these carburetors; they are an engineering masterpiece. Valves built in the gaskets that open to feed fuel where needed, no real bowl, they operate at any position. I was ready to buy a new 4 stroke, for less than $40 I have what appears to be a new trimmer. ... show more

  • TB22EC (worked fine)
The media could not be loaded. I have myself a tb22ec "troy built" with a straight shaft on it rather the curve I believe most come with. Started having issues after replacing the gas line on it the other day. Noticed it didn't have a gasket between the head and card but did have one between the carb and filter housing so I believe that's where my issue was. None the less, installed this (did have to make the holes a little bigger as I don't have a proper tool to install such lines into a gas tank like this) Used the tool it came with to adjust high, and low fuel speeds, feel like it may have to much a delay for my liking (not easy to notice in the video as it seemed delayed pretty badly when u hear sound vs when I squeezed the trigger was recording issue) All in all tho, easy to install, if u don't know how to adjust a carb just YouTube it. No shame in that! Mine came with three bulbs, two intank filters, spark plug, the carb, and the tool to adjust the carb with. You'll notice it's probably a different tool than that u used to use. I recommend this product especially for the price and considering you get lines and filters with gaskets! Adding to this, that it only takes 15 mins or so to change out this carb. Add an extra 10 for the two fuel lines granted you need em or not. I did, prime return side was bad and dry rotted, so I swapped it. Inlet side was already changed but, the hose that came with the kit seemed closer to a match than what I had used, so I swapped it out too. All in all, 20-30 min install granted fuel lines swapped as well, comes with the tool to adjust the carb (mine needed adjusting) comes with a spark plug I didn't use yet, and 3 primer bulbs as well as two intank filters. Great for the money. (Don't look for instructions to come with it.) It's pretty self explanatory on how to remove the carb. Takes two screws for the tb22ec and remove the fuel lines, then the throttle cable and the carbs off. (Edit) don't know why the quality was or is so bad on the video. 4k 30 looks pretty crisp on my end. Although lag in the audio is a thing. When I squeezed the trigger you see the throttle open but there's a slight delay, that's not there in real life. (Does feel a bit sluggish upon idle to full throttle at first) may just be me. But a week later still running strong. ... show more

  • Fits exact, good quality parts provided
This was exactly lm y what I needed for my Troy bolt weed eater, and it started right up after I installed it. Extra parts (hoses vacuum pump bubble, port wrench) were included as well. I am confident in the longevity of this week water again!
