This is an awesome kennel, pretty similar alternative to a Ruffland at a lower price point and without the annoyance of finding and working with a dealer to buy. I got the intermediate size of this- it’s much wider than my large Ruffland, though a couple inches shorter in length. Everything about it is solid and comparable. My only issue is the door latches- they take a significant amount of hand strength to open and close and the door is a bit difficult to shut properly. I have tiny baby hands though, and have had some hand injuries, so folks with bigger stronger hands shouldn’t struggle as much as I do. The Ruffland is a lot easier to open and close, and the door is sturdier in terms of latch. All in all I’m really pleased with this crate. It’s very well made, great design with the handles, and a better value for the price given the intermediate is that much larger than the Ruffland LARGE. I’m impressed. It’s a little lighter too, easier to carry and load into the car. It seems pretty on par in terms of safety, though I’d love to see them do some of the testing on it eventually. But I feel good using this as a car crate. It’s attractive, sturdy, and not as dark inside as my Ruffland. My girl is happy jumping into it in the back of the car without hesitation! Oh and the standard color selection is nice, much larger than Rufflands two standard colors. I like the orange, it’s very attractive in my car. Bring on some girly colors though- with a dog named Magenta, I want a pink kennel once the color selection expands. I’ll buy more of these for sure. Edited to add: I did indeed buy another, and alas, the door issue is not limited to the original orange one. My new green one is a pain in the rear end to close and latch securely. I’m going to use these crates as house crates, I ordered two of the G3 Dakota crates to try out for the car instead. These are fantastic crates, but i need doors that do not seize up in the cold. When I’m at training or an event and rushing to get one dog in and another out, I can’t be messing around with the doors for ten minutes.

The Dakota 283 Canine Rough is an exceptionally solid crate. The roto-molded construction is incredibly tough, with no flex or rattling, and the heavy-duty door and hardware feel very secure. It provides a safe, den-like space that helps dogs settle, especially during travel. Ventilation is excellent, the door operates smoothly, and cleanup is easy. While it’s more expensive than standard plastic crates, the build quality and safety make it well worth the investment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a long-lasting, high-quality dog crate.

It won’t let me do five stars for some easy. However our escape artist husky cannot escape this surprisingly and i’m so happy. So much relief to finally keep him secured somewhere and he isn’t able to hurt his snout on the kennel doors. With wire crates he always cut open his nose and bent the crate open Its easy for my husband to carry outside to clean it and feels sturdy too. It’s a great size and fits our 60lb dog amazingly. We were almost going to spend $650 at a crate on bass pro but we found this one and cannot be any happier. We had to put it in a closet so if he does escape he isn’t at risk of anything while out of the crate. (this way he is still kept inside his crate) I do however wonder if they sell replacement doors. He may not be able to break out but he does still try and one side of the crate so the right side is harder to close as of now after having it for a few weeks. This is 1000000000% worth the money. It helps so much for someone solo parenting since my husband deploys from time to time it’s just me handling him. I can even carry the crate/drag it to the backyard with the handles it has. There’s basically no metal on the crate besides the springs for the door lock. The door is a thick plastic. He hasn’t even been successful at chewing it open either.

DON’T BUY THIS CRATE ONLINE!! It smells terribly and has a VERY strong plastic odor. If you need to return it, the return shipping is over $200 ??!?! Total waste of time and money. The strong plastic smell has permeated the car and makes it unbearable to drive - odor remains even after taking the crate out of the car. I’ve never even had the dog in the crate.

This a revised review. The sell made good on their error, although I would highly recommend to them not to use ONTRAC, LaserShip, or any other substandard shipping company in the future. The product itself, i did not find worth the cost. Although the product seems rugged, the internal design is not comfortable or welcoming. The floor of the crate is very uneven.

Love this crate! Perfect for my 60lb dog who rides in a large crate in the car, but I wanted him to have more room for his house crate so I bought the XL. He’s safe and secure when he needs to be kenneled inside the home. The solid mold design eliminate parts that could brake.

This kennel/crate was used for a working breed dog that is 35 lbs. It is spacious enough for this size dog. I wouldn't put a large breed dog in it who is tall or over 50 lbs. This kennel prevents my dog from injuring themselves as they would on a wire crate. It is easy to clean. It is light enough to move around but heavy enough to stay in place and sturdy. The door opening and closing from both sides is pretty standard crate design now. The bright color is good because it is easy to recognize when other dogs may be traveling on transport, you will know whose is whose. The price was about the same all over the internet.

Bought this for our rescue German Shepherd dog who is almost 2 years old. It’s sturdy and easy to use. We went this route rather than a wire one for safety for him and it’s big enough for him. It’s easy to clean if they have an accident.
