I purchased this reel after my 15+ year old abu Garcia spinner broke, so needless to say I was behind the times of modern reel technology. Comparing this reel to that one is night and day. To start off, the reel is as beautiful as a fishing reel can be, with an opalescent purple color befitting the regal name. It is very lightweight, with a carbon resin body instead of steel like my old reel. Reeling in your line is an absolute pleasure; with 10 ball bearings and Daiwa's proprietary airdrive rotor, it's hard to beat the smoothness at this price point. The reel is offered in several sizes. I ordered the 3000, which seems to be a good, all round size for trout, bass, etc. However, if you are looking for a reel for your ultralight build, consider the 1000 size for its blend of light weight, smoothness and tech at a competitive price point. Likewise, the reel is offered at up to a 6000 size for those targeting salmon and steelhead regularly. I have only had the pleasure of fishing with this reel about 10 times so far, but part of that was a 2 day lake trip where I fished with it all day. The reel is as easy to use as any other, and features a simple dial on top to set your drag. It functions same as any other spinnner, with a switch up front to allow rotation in both directions, a standard bail, and standard drag dial, but the performance is where the reel really shines. Drag is easy to set on the fly or in the middle of a fight (though not as simple as a baitcaster). If you are looking for an excellent all around reel, you cannot go wrong with daiwa regal Lt. I picked up the Daiwa Regal LT 2500 for my spinning setup and have been really impressed. Right out of the box, the reel feels solid but lightweight, which makes it comfortable for long days on the water. The retrieve is buttery smooth, and the drag system has been reliable when fighting fish — no jerks or slips. I mainly use it for trout and bass, and it handles both with ease. The spool design allows for excellent line management, and I haven’t had issues with wind knots or tangles like I’ve had with other reels in this price range. The handle has a nice ergonomic feel, and overall the reel looks sharp too. For the money, it’s honestly hard to beat. If you want a smooth, dependable reel without breaking the bank, the Regal LT is an excellent choice. ... show more

I bought this for trout season in pa. It seems well built but I've only had it for 1 season so far. Holds plenty of 6lb braid. Its very smooth even with a 26in brown trout is fighting you. The drag is easy to adjust, so far it has performed flawlessly.

Nice reel that has smooth action and feels premium. I'm used to low end junk so this is a huge step up and I can't imagine I'll ever need anything nicer. Easily caught pickerel, small mouth bass, lake trout, and perch ranging in weight from a few oz to a few pounds. Drag held well for multiple salmon and holds a sufficient amount of 30lb braided line. It cast extremely smooth and fit well with a 7ft medium light action rod. I would purchase again
