I happen to own a few current reels right in the same $35 price point, namely the Shimano Sienna FG and Piscifun Viper X, as well as higher end reels. Compared to the Sienna and Viper, this Crossfire is the top value. Feels great, nice spool, drag is far better than expected, bail spring is good, casts very well, and is light without feeling too cheap. Looks nice, too! The Sienna is also very capable, but it feels pretty dated at this point (it is) and the Piscifun Viper is a solid option, but feels cheaper overall and has enough flex to notice. I bought the 1000 size and the handle could be 5-10mm longer, but that's about my only criticism. Does it perform like a Vanford or Ballistic? Nope, but most folks wouldn't even notice in normal use. Reels have come a long way in the last 20-30 years. This discount reel would have been top of the line in 1995, and the value is outstanding. It's also nice to not worry much about "what if my kids drops it overboard? What if I step on it? What if it gets dropped in the mud?" compared to my expensive reels!

I have 15 or so combos. About half spinning and the other baitcasters. 4 of the spinning combos have either 2500 or 3000 size Daiwa Regal LT's. Fantastic reels. But I had a 15 year old Abu Garcia UltraCast combo that the reel wore out and I love the rod for skipping wacky worms. This new model Daiwa Crossfire LT was on sale and I decided to try it and return it if I didn't like it. Honestly I can barely tell any difference from the Regals. Daiwa upgraded the Crossfire last year and it now has Digigear, AirDrive rotor, ATD-L drag, & ABS-LC spool. I got it in the 3000-C size which has a 2500 size body and 3000 size spool with 22 lbs of drag. The body isn't Zaion-V, like the Regals, but it is light and strong and I had no flex whatsoever horsing a 4 lb largemouth out from under a dock. I don't know how they can pack so many features into this reel at such a low price point. It has 3+1 bearings instead of 6 or 9, but that really doesn't matter much. The important bearings support the main and pinion gears and the anti-reverse. Beyond 3+1 matters very little in terms of function and barely more in terms of perceived smoothness. 13 bearings is great for marketing but does very little for performance unless you're paying $200-$300 for a reel. Do your research and you will find the NEW model Crossfire LT generally considered the best sub-$50 spinning reel currently on the market.

Had to buy 2 when these went on sale to refresh some of my aging reels. They are sub 50 bucks so I didn't expect much. But they are smooth, looks great, well made. It's good value for what it is

Perfect fishing reel I just wish that it had a PVC sticker in the Box because why am I buying name brand and it doesn't give me sticker for my car? Like I want to plaster Daiwa all over my car. But in all seriousness I think that this is a pretty perfect spinning reel I think that it's a little bit cheaper than the previous model only because it uses a I think composite plastic or graphite or whatever it is sort of arm that they use it's not metal like the original 20/20 Crossfire and the clicker thing on the top is a little more Hollow sounding but I think that they only did this combined with the extra ball bearings and l-drive thing to make it sort of cheaper to manufacture just to keep price down as much as possible so people can still get a quality spinning reel because if you look at the prices now of the 2020 Crossfire it's actually $45 now even though like a few weeks ago it was $35 so I think what they're doing here is they're trying to keep a relatively low prices so people can still get into fishing and get a quality spinning reel and so they can compete against these terrible Amazon brands. I think it's pretty good quality I don't have any flexing issues with it I think that they give you a little bit more technology in this one versus the original even though I don't like the way the arm looks I like the original very thin smooth aluminum Style they always had on their upper end models but I think what dial is doing is a good thing trying to get budget spinning reels out on the market for anyone to be able to get their hands on. Also if you can get the original one for the same price I think that's a decision you would have to make if you really want I think if you were able to get either one of them under $30 I think that's still a good bargain I think that this one is a little bit better maybe just because the better technology that it has and the extra ball bearings but I think that they're both pretty good I only bought these when they were on sale that being I bought the original 2020 model when it was under 30 and this version when it was under $30 but I think for $35 each one of the reals are really good for the money and you should always get name brand not the Amazon brands

Have you ever wanted to turn the most peaceful and relaxing sport in the world aggravating? Have you ever had the urge to attempt to untie impossible knots for hours in between the 3 casts you’re able to do with these reels? Then this is the reel for you. Let me start by saying I’m not new to spinning reels in the slightest. Been using them for over a decade. These are absolutely terrible. Every single cast they find a way to put the line places I didn’t even think is possible. At first, I ordered one and put braided X8 line on it (the good stuff), It started tangling terribly. I have probably 15 to 20 photos of it tangled because I wanted my money back. They said that’s not possible and sent me a replacement. I was content with that at the time because I figured I’ll try fluoro line on it and maybe it’ll make a difference. It did not. In fact it somehow managed to wrap the line under the reel mechanism and into the gears on probably the 4rd cast (almost impressive to do). I get it’s an entry level reel, but I’ve had much cheaper that were much better (low bar since the bare minimum is its most basic function). Now I’m down $35 in line plus the price of the reel and have two broken reels that are completely dysfunctional with no way to get my money back. I’ll include the most impressive failures in the photos below. But keep in mind I have way more. Ended my fishing day in about 45 minutes. 👍🏻

Size 2000 - For a budget reel; which is what I generally use for stock trout fishing, I'm impressed. The fit, finish and quality are well above the common discount reels you can buy here or at discount stores. Japanese engineering excellence! I did order after-market carbonx drag washers because I want long lasting smooth drag power when needed. They'll probable outlast the reel, but I don't care. I loaded it with 8# braid on a 7' light Shakespeare wild rod and the weight and balance are perfect for throwing small presentations. Take care of it and it'll probably last a long time. If not, I'll be back to update after the summer. Peace out Update - I forgot to mention that the line lay was high on the spool, but they supply extra washers if needed. I added one small washer and re-spooled the reel and it's great! I'm very happy with this combo...tight lines.

For $35 this is the finest reel you can buy. I fish a $220 Daiwa Tatula MQ and the Crossfire LT is built on some of the same foundations. Absolutely smooth for the price. 3BB is perfect. The bail is solid. The drag is the same as my Tatula, though the adjustment mechanism is much cheaper feeling. Everyone that fishes should own this.
