1500 seems bigger than some other brands but this reel works great. I have a 3000 as well! Drag on both is super smooth. aluminum frame makes it a bit heavier than the graphite frames but it's super sturdy. i would recommend to anyone looking for a spinning reel.

The reel felt great and I wanted to keep it, however, just not sure it was going to be a 10 year reel. Seemed like it might need some attention to bearings or grease. Still a good reel. Wasn't convinced it would last in saltwater. Customer service was great.

I have absolutely loved this reel. It is small and light and extremely capable. I have caught some large fish with it since I got it and the drag washer held up to a 32" drum with light tackle. Some of the BG's have issues with the bail flipping errantly, but I have not had this issue. I will be buying more of these. ... show more

Had the reel for 4 years now. Still running smooth. I only use it in fresh water for bass. My buddy splashed his in saltwater from the beach and it got all ruined and had to have new bearings put in . So I’d say use it for fresh water and don’t dunk it and you will be happy. I bought the 1500, the smallest model and it is one of my best spinning reels. I fish it in saltwater as well as in fresh. and have reeled in countless bass, and all kinds of inshore saltwater fish. I paired it with a extra fast Tatula rod. The combo caught a bass on my very first cast. If you don't want to spend over $100 for a spinning reel, consider BG or the Fuego series. ... show more

This reel is so smooth. I never got so many hooks stuck on hanging branches because it casts like a dream. It's like upgrading from a very slow car to a very very very fast car, you have to get used to it...
