Just what I wanted!
Style: 1500
This reel is used for ultralight spin fishing. It is a little bit on the heavy side, but the solid feel makes up for it. It is very smooth, as is the drag. It matches up well with the ultralight rod I put it on. It is fabulous for what I paid for it.

Best reel in class for the money
Style: 1500
I have absolutely loved this reel. It is small and light and extremely capable. I have caught some large fish with it since I got it and the drag washer held up to a 32" drum with light tackle. Some of the BG's have issues with the bail flipping errantly, but I have not had this issue. I will be buying more of these. ... show more

I love these BG series. I own every model from 1500 to the 5000. For the money they are very hard to beat.

Tooo smooth
Style: 1500
This reel is so smooth. I never got so many hooks stuck on hanging branches because it casts like a dream. It's like upgrading from a very slow car to a very very very fast car, you have to get used to it...

Great for the money
Style: 1500
Had the reel for 4 years now. Still running smooth. I only use it in fresh water for bass. My buddy splashed his in saltwater from the beach and it got all ruined and had to have new bearings put in . So I’d say use it for fresh water and don’t dunk it and you will be happy. The large main gear is a strong selling point for longevity. ... show more

From halibut to large mouth, no problem
Style: 1500
I bought the 1500, the smallest model and it is one of my best spinning reels. I fish it in saltwater as well as in fresh. and have reeled in countless bass, and all kinds of inshore saltwater fish. I paired it with a extra fast Tatula rod. The combo caught a bass on my very first cast. If you don't want to spend over $100 for a spinning reel, consider BG or the Fuego series. ... show more

GREAT product. GREAT price
Style: 1500
This is a great product. I have the BG 4500 and I use it for bottom fishing. Great power for the price. Its handled some stripers that peel drag. I'd consider it better value than my Penn clash. GREAT product from Daiwa!
