This swivel is not quite as heavy and the metal is slightly thinner than the one I'm replacing, but it seems sturdy and the swivel turns smoothly. The holes in my bar stool didn't line up with the holes in the swivel but that was not a real problem since I could drill new holes in the seat, and expand the legs by modifying the lower braces. The original lasted 30 years. If this lasts half as long I'll be more than satisfied.

Was a bit skeptical when I first saw the box it was in lucky it didn't break apart in transit I'll include pictures later. These are exactly what I was looking for very well constructed weigh about 6lbs each all steel including the ball bearings no plastic covering over the bearings in the race. Well worth the price I paid. Very happy with them I'm sure they will outlast me!!!

Bottom line: I was quite happy to find exact size replacements. Old kitchen stools were dropping ground metal powder due to difficulty in lubrication and age. New swivels work great with one issue. Apparently in the manufacturing process, the metal surfaces that become the races for the ball bearings are PAINTED! Ball bearings are lubricated well but after some usage, the paint is eroded away by the ball bearing action and mixes with the lubrication (grease). This grease/paint mixture becomes very viscous (thick) and rotation of the swivel becomes difficult. It was necessary to remove the swivel from the stool, flush the bearing race with some light oil and use the edge of a paper towel to absorb the paint/grease buildup. Swivel operation is now as expected.

Definitely a worthwhile purchase and solid steel composition so weight bearing concerns were thrown out the window. This steel swivel base was used for a welding shop and swivels perfectly with heavy weight. In my application it was used for 250lbs and still rotated with ease.
