    • My favorite wireless adapter.
Why, oh why did you discontinue this and replace it with a bigger one, DLink? We've used this for over a year to replace failing wireless adapters in laptops and desktops. What was great about the DWA 121 was its tiny size. It was barely noticeable from an aesthetic standpoint. More importantly, it is so small, it's difficult to accidentally bang around or damage. Similar in size to Logitech's wireless USB mouse adapters, this was perfect. My wireless router at our shop is purposefully placed approximately 40 feet away from the front of our shop. The recommended range is 30 feet, line of sight. The DWA 121 has never had one single problem reaching 40 feet through three walls with metal studs and several other wireless devices (two cell phones, one 2.4 Ghz phone, one 5 Ghz phone, two wireless video cameras, plus a refrigerator and a microwave oven) between it and my cheap D-Link wireless router. I always test the worst case scenario in my shop, and the DWA 121 has never failed once. I have sold several of these over the past year or so and have had zero returns or complaints. You'd better get yours quick before I buy up the rest of the inventory before it's replaced with the DWA 131 :( ... show more

So far this has been great. I've dropped it into several systems that only have Ethernet cards. Immediately recognized on systems from XP to a handful of Windows servers, and even into CentOS 7 servers. I configure the Ethernet interfaces before shipping them out. I work from home, so I do server configuration then ship them out for racking in our datacenters. It's awesome being able to just drop this in, configure the interfaces as needed, then pull it out and it's completely ready to go. Absolutely no issues on joining my WiFi network (WPA2) on 2.4 or 5GHz. Transfer rates are good. Range seems OK-- although I have a WiFi router and 2 APs in my home.     • Great replacement for a PCMCIA card
Works perfectly on my girlfriend's laptop. Since the it was only capable of B&G this seemed a good upgrade to bring her up to speed. Set up wasn't as easy as plug and play though. While the software detected our network, it kept timing out and wouldn't connect. I had to disable the option to let Windows configure the wireless settings and then it jumped on. No problems after that and it also picked up without issue each time after wakeup. There's a small blue LED that indicates activity which is nice touch. Initial bandwidth test was 15Mbps down and 1 up, not bad for a USB adapter; test was in the evening. When my ISP (Verizon) decided to replace my old modem with a wireless one, free, I took it. Worked great for my Kindle and netbook, not so for the older computer. It turned out that my computer was too old to support wireless, so...I bought this. It seems to work better than my old ethernet cable. Also, when I disconnected the ethernet cable, it had some damage. Since this device is connected to my computer without a cable, I figure that I will save money since I will not have to replace a damaged ethernet cable again (geez, did a mouse...as in rodent...gnaw on it?... again?). I've watched movies on Amazon and videos on youtube; it works well. Oh, and I might add...the best plus...I will never trip over an ethernet cable again. cb ... show more

    • (Probably) a great product?
I got mine in a hurry and all is as described. Other than I have yet to get my own to work on anything yet. But I am staying "positive" because my comrades claim they have success with these things? I salvage Dead Windows/Microsoft computers using Linux/BSD Based Operating Systems. Often with laptops it is hard to get the WiFi working right away without connecting to the Internet to finish configuring a new Install. I have no wired Internet; all WiFi in my world. The gizmo works. It reads, and the lights turn on and all that. But using the Driver CD that is included on F/OSS so far escapes me. I think this is actually the same gizmo as the $1.99 one. But after taking in Shipping from China cost, opted for this one which comes out about the same $$$ cost. ... show more

    • Works but weak range/download speed
I just installed this on a desktop running windows 7. I had some problems getting the device to work and required a long conversation/diagnostic with D-Link (and required me to downgrade my wireless router encryption to make it work). Once up and running, I shared with technical support that the connection seemed slow, which they attributed to line of sight and potential other things interfering. This was confusing, since I have a laptop sitting right next to this machine, and it can connect to the wireless router much faster. I then tested the download speeds of my laptop and the DLink device, and the DLink device was about 6X slower (2.68Mbps vs 13.69Mbps). I will continue to tweak and work with this to see if I can repair, but until then, this is rating. Recommend keep looking. ... show more

    • Get rid of your network cable!
I recently setup an adjustable desk which I love, and to go with it I purchased a tower holder that mounts under the desk (3M Adjustable Under-Desk CPU Mount, 360 Degree Swivel (CS200MB)). Because I mounted the tower on the side of the desk furthest away from my router, I needed to find a way to avoid the network cable running across the floor (I hate wires showing).     • Doesn't get better than G speeds on N router that my other ...
Works ok in osx. Must have their 3rd party utility running the entire time in order to connect to a wifi access point. If you remove the USB dongle sometimes it will cause the Mac to panic. Doesn't get better than G speeds on N router that my other machines will hit 300mbps over N with. If you touch the plastic cap your signal basically drops. I was airplay streaming audio from this to my appletv and I could effectively mute the sound the moment I touched the dongle. Even 3 feet from router I see 64mbps Max speed (I know G stops at 54 but it's close enough). ... show more
