  • Setup was smooth and it works just as well as a cable as far as I can tell.
I just bought a Quest 2 for the first time when they went on sale this year, but when I tried to use Air Link between my PC and my router, it was really choppy and unusable. My PC is hardwired to the router and the Quest 2 is only about 15 feet away from the router, but the router is an older Asus from 2014 and there is one wall between the PC and the Quest 2. I was hoping it would still work, but no luck. The reviews on this bridge are a little mixed, but I figured it was worth a shot to see if I could play PC VR games without a cable. The setup was pretty easy and basically consisted of opening the Oculus app on the PC, plugging in the bridge, doing a restart and setting a password for the wifi that the Bridge puts out. I plugged the included cable into a USB 3.2 port on the back of my PC and set the D-Link Bridge on the desk facing the play area. I am playing in the living room, just about 20 feet from the bridge. Then you just connect the Quest 2 to the wifi from the bridge and launch the Air Link from the Quest menu. At first I was concerned that the the bridge wifi had no internet connection, meaning the Quest didn't have a connection to the internet when I was connected to the bridge wifi. Then I realized that the Quest doesn't need an internet connection while you are using the Air Link, because the games are running on the PC anyway. The Quest is just acting as a VR headset for the PC, so as long as the PC has internet, you are good to go. When you are done with the PC you just reconnect the Quest to your normal wifi to get internet back. It just takes a couple clicks on the Quest menu to swap back. So how does it perform? It is actually really good! I honestly can't tell the difference between using the Quest standalone versus using it to play PC games through the bridge. I bought Contractors VR because it is a cross-buy game, so I can test the same game on the Quest versus playing through the PC. Other than the graphics on PC being WAY better, I can't tell a difference between how the game feels and controls. It runs really smooth through the bridge, and I forgot I was even running the game on my PC. I have played a few different games (Contractors, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Tabletop Simulator) for several hours now and I haven't had any crashes or issues. I have really only seen it stutter a couple times in the time I have played so far, and it was very briefly. I do have a higher end PC (i7-12700k, RTX 4080), which I am sure helps eliminate any bottleneck on the PC side. ... show more

  • A real game changer!
Before getting this, I could only use my airlink at certain times during the day where I had to have my headset plugged in to my computer with very little room to move (the cord was not very long and if I moved only slightly a certain way, I would be disconnected.) The VR Air Bridge D-Link has allowed me to play untethered from my computer. It is so nice to be able to move or to takeoff my headset without losing my game. I love it. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because my visuals were very shaky in one app and I was not able to experience it through PCVR. Overall, this is definitely well-worth the cost. I hear it is even more amazing when combined with Virtual Desktop and not just the regular Quest airlink, but I have not tried it yet. ... show more

  • Your mileage may and probably will vary
I love accessing PCVR games and content via my Meta Quest 2 headset, link cable, and PC. However, the main draw of the Meta Quest 2 is that it is wireless, so that is the downside of a USB connection to a PC. So, needless to say, I had super high hopes for the D-Link VR Air Bridge and the ability to access PC Content & Games via a wireless connection. How did things go South so quickly? The first issue I ran into was the setup. It wasn’t horrible, but if you run into an issue as I did, you may find yourself searching the internet hoping to find a helping morsel of information to help you move forward. (I had to remove several devices in the device manager to install everything correctly). After some time working out the bugs, the installation was completed, and walking through the connection steps from that point was straightforward. Here’s the rub, though multiple reviews on various sites state that their connection was stable and that they experienced little to zero lag, I experienced the opposite. My Oculus randomly lost its connection to the bridge and had so much lag that it was unusable. I wish I could say this was my experience when standing in the middle of the room, but no, this was sitting directly in front of the wireless bridge (less than two feet away). Also, the connection strength status stated that I had an excellent connection. A Systems Engineer by trade, I figured I could troubleshoot the issue and find my way into some excellent PCVR gaming…. but no, after several days, I threw in the towel. I wish I could rate this device higher, but for me, it’s a non-starter. I haven’t given up entirely yet. I hope to find time to revisit and resolve the issue with any luck. If I do, I may upgrade my rating, but until then, we are stuck at three stars. Your mileage may and probably will vary, so I recommend purchasing this product and trying it yourself. If you are lucky, like many have been, you should have a great experience. • It does its job well enough.
I tested this product with multiple games on steam and side loaded apps with my quest 2 and while it does do the job well with no lags and a very simple setup. The one thing I will say though is on the instructions there may be a bit of a confusion for some. Because on the box it says for minimum requirements it says to use a usb 3.2 gen 1 port but when you follow the instructions inside the box I've noticed that it said to just use a usb 3 port which may throw some people off. ... show more

  • Too much lag for me
This D-Link air bridge was pretty easy to set up and looks nice. There is a video walking through the setup on D-Link's official Youtube account. It didn't take long but after I followed the steps and connected to my PC, It had crazy lag that made it unusable. It was difficult even exiting as the latency was very bad. I tried again but to no avail. Not sure if there are some sort of settings somewhere that could help the performance. For reference, I have a Quest 2 and a PC with ethernet, RTX 3050, Intel I5 12 gen, and 16GB of RAM. The QR codes on the packaging didn't work either. I tried using the virtual desktop app instead and that seemed to work great with almost no lag and little latency. Not sure why this didn't work. ... show more

  • Somewhat expensive but does the job.
I recently changed ISPs and had to reconfigure my internal network. Now my PC isn't on the same LAN as my wifi (and thus my Meta Quest 2) anymore due to the way that frontier fiber is set up. There may have been some convoluted way to remedy this, but, buying the D-Link Air Bridge got me back online wirelessly with almost no configuration, I just plugged it in, set the password, and connected my quest 2 to the wifi it created, and like that I was able to use Virtual Desktop again and thus play all of my games. If you can't get your wifi configured across multiple network devices, or just need a wireless way to connect at all, I recommend this device but I do think it is just a touch pricy. ... show more

  • Not Plug & Play for sure...
Let's get this out of the way first - this thing is definitely NOT plug & play or even simple to use on most systems. I spent two hours trying to get this to work on a new system running Windows 11 Pro, and it connected once for all of 10 seconds. In frustration, I plugged it into my Windows 10 Pro desktop, and it took about 15 minutes to get it to work - doing the exact same troubleshooting steps I was doing on the other system. When it connected, it did so immediately, and then disconnected. I tried again and got a stable connection and was able to even play Steam VR games without issue. So........ Back to the Win 11 machine - another 30 minutes, doing the same things I had already done, but having read others say that sometimes it just randomly started working. Guess what - it randomly connected, but...the desktop kept flickering in/out (mostly out). I was able to launch Steam VR, but Home wouldn't load. So I manually launched a game from the desktop with Steam VR open, and it worked. Played a bit, exited the game, and then Home opened after a delay. This thing is janky af... It doesn't help that D-Link's site has one set of troubleshooting steps, and Meta's site has a different set of troubleshooting steps - neither of which is completely right. For example, on one of the Meta pages, they tell you to turn on Mobile Hotspot. However Mobile Hotspot definitely killed the connection anytime it was on and D-Link's site says to make sure you only have ONE connection going on your desktop - ethernet or WiFi, not both. Since I was using ethernet, having Mobile Hotspot on was essentially the same as having another communication method (wireless) open. Then, there's the entire mess with playing around with the network adapter settings, because you have to share your connection with the virtual adapter that's created...maybe...hopefully...sometimes. Even if you do that, you may have to disable all sorts of power saving settings in the adapters and in the Device Manager too. Buuuuttttt, you still may not be able to connect. Better turn off Bluetooth - nope, still not working? Turn of the phone link to the PC - nah, did nothing. Resets of things, restarts of the PC, restarts of the headset, etc., all for a random chance it may connect. Then, the next time you want to use it - maybe gotta do it all again... With all of that said - when it does work, man, it works great. Maybe one day between D-Link and Meta, they'll figure out how to make it reliable. ... show more

  • VR Gaming goes wireless
I liked that I could use my VR headset wirelessly it helps bring VR gaming to a new level, what I didn’t like was that the wireless bridge crashes periodically and then mid gaming experience the signal fails leaving a very disorientating. If they could fix the crashing it would be amazing.
