Description

The Water Leak Sensor Starter Kit is an easy to use DIY leak detection solution for the home that notifies you of any water leaks as soon as they occur, so you can avoid costly water damage repairs from leaks that go undetected. The kit includes a Master Unit (or Hub) with attachable sensing cable, and a battery powered sensing Pod. The Hub plugs into any wall outlet, while the sensing Pod can be placed in areas susceptible to water leaks such as the washing machine, water heater, under sinks. The Pod sports two pre- installed AAA batteries for up to 5 years of battery life. Both units are super easy to set up and come pre-paired to the mydlink app which can be downloaded onto your smartphone and easily connected to your home’s existing WiFi. The multi-alert system (audible, visual, mobile) makes it accessible whether home or away. The Hub’s LED strobe light is powerful for visual notification, while the Hub’s built in 100 dB alarm is easily heard. You can also connect to Google Speaker for voice alerts, and finally rich notifications are sent to your mobile phone. Scalable and versatile you can add up to 16 Pods throughout your home. The Pods low profile design make it easy to place discreetly and the sensing cable allows for more out of reach placement. The reliable mydlink water sensor kit is always on so when you are away you have peace of mind.

  • Great device to alert to water
This a GREAT product. Our basement had flooded a couple of times, we got this because we don't go to the basement daily. This has picked up like a half cup of water from the clothes washer when the hose dripped a little. So great! App works great and fast reacting and the sound is super loud and allows us to hear upstairs. Would recommend! ... show more

  • TOTALLY WORKS!
Back in January we were about to sit down to supper when the Master Sensor alarm sounded! I opened the app on my phone and saw that the remote sensor, located in the crawl space and assigned to the master bathroom, was the source of the alarm. Well d@#$! Our crawl space, though dry and not at all nasty, is still my least favorite place to hang out; anyway I confirmed that the toilet was the culprit. After removing the toilet I confirmed that the wax ring had failed; better yet that the toilet had not been installed correctly and finally, years down the road had failed; as in the toilet flange was well below floor level! Dried everything out with a de-humidifier, corrected the toilet flange issue and re-installed the toilet. The reason why we installed the water sensors in the first place was that a few years back the toilet installation in the second bathroom had failed, and it was MONTHS later before we knew about it; yeah that wasn't pretty! We are really happy with this system; great value and most importantly IT WORKS! ... show more

  • Won’t stop beeping after a test
After getting our D-Link DCH-S1621KT master sensor just a little wet (spilling a bit of water on the floor), the thing keeps sounding an alarm. How does one let this device know that (a) we know it’s a little wet but (b) PLEASE STOP BEEPING? (I’ve already inadvertently factory-reset the whole device once by pressing and holding its one button.) There oughtta be a way to tell it to calm the heck down for 24 hours or whatever—without having to take extraordinary measures to dry the thing out. I’ll update this review if DLink tells me I’ve missed something in its meager documentation. Also unclear: How to link this thing to Google Home. (UPDATE: Can’t be linked to Google Home, although the box misleadingly and apparently wrongly says “Works with the Google Assistant.”) ... show more

  • connectivity to WiFi issue on startup
Just received and am setting up… during setup, it tries to connect to my WiFi, but shows it as not having a password. When I connect it says unsecured despite it having a password. It fails to connect and gives me an error. Tried multiple times, anyone know a workaround?

  • These really work (after 2 years review)
In 2022, I purchased several of these to keep in my basement in some spots that have had water issues in the past (usually due to a sprinkler head breaking and leaking water into basement). For 2 years, most of the sensors sat without incident and without any detection. I did not charge them or touch them. And today, I had a water leakage and they worked PERFECTLY. The photo is hard to see well, but you can see that there is a small pool of water that has leaked through the foundation in the basement floor. The alarm was loud enough to get my attention and my phone immediately notified me which water sensor so I could go directly to the problem spot. They do exactly what they are supposed to do and I am very glad to have them. I was able to quickly clean up the water and can fix the situation without standing water causing damage or mold. 10/10 recommend. ... show more

  • IT WORKS (found out the hard way)
Just ordered a new washer/dryer tower, which sits on recently refinished hardwood floors (over a finished basement). Saw positive reviews for this online (e.g. NYT Wirecutter) and went ahead and ordered. Hands down best insurance we ever bought! Sure enough, the washer leaked like crazy and this device alerted us via mobile app IMMEDIATELY (saving us from a worse nightmare). Great product, strongly recommended. Only issue we've experienced is when we first went to install/set up the app - we never received the registration email link. Tried again a couple days later (thankfully) and sure enough set up was successful (hard to say what caused the email delay, could be a number of factors unrelated to D-Link). ... show more
