The hinges were easy to install and they work well for my gate to be self closing. I was surprised that they were plastic, but they seem plenty strong. I was also surprised that there are only a few settings for the self closing mechanism. Ones I have worked with in the past were a more variable range whereas this as a few distinct settings.     • More of a decorative hinge. Not practical for regular size yard fence.
I installed these on a gate in the wooden fence around my house. The gate is 3 x 5.5 ft basic redwood weighing less than the 55lb max. They lasted for two weeks. I opened my gate one morning and heard one or both springs snap. The spring tension was gone and the gate would no longer self close. These are nice, decorative hinges. They are really more for a small picket fence or plastic fence. I dont recomend them for a standard size yard fence. ... show more

    • Not strong enough for a small light gate.....
These hinges are way overpriced. I was not expecting the cheap plastic they are made out of. My gates are two small 3' w x 6' h thin wood gates and pretty light weight and these hinges , adjusted as far as they will go, have a difficult time closing them. There is still a large 8 inch gap and they do not quite make it so the latch catches. I still have to reach for the latch and close it. Very disappointing because I bought 2 pairs, one pair for each gate. Really set me back money wise. I was expecting these to be able to at the least close the gate so the latch would catch. ... show more
