I found this latch to be a well-designed and easy to install replacement for a 15 year old latch on a pool fence gate. Pros: - ease of installation by a homeowner with a battery operated screwdriver / drill, a rule, level, and perhaps a few other basic tools - good installation video available on the web for the first timer - very positive latching mechanism - ability to position for either swing in or out, left side or right configurations - easy to adjust after installation, as my self closing hinges went in after the latch - orange dot to make it clear whether the lock is engaged or not Cons: - I needed a spacer due to the width of the gate - MLSpacer part - and found it available elsewhere for substantially less - unknown - only in place a couple of weeks, so I cannot speak to its life - I did notice complaints about the longevity of the polymer vs steel parts, buti believe there is a long warranty from the manufacturer Summary - much better and safer than what it replaced; no complaints

My handy man recommended to but this gate latch. Although it is pricey, it is very efficient, looks good and is very quiet, and has a key if you need to lock it. I absolutely love it and looks as part of the fence post. I highly recommend it!

Purchased these to replace the standard gate latch on new fencing around a pool. PROS Sturdy. Relatively easy to install. Puts latches out of reach of children. Lockable. CON After recent rainy weather that turned to below freezing temperatures, went out to do some maintenance around the pool. Could not get either latch open as they were frozen in the locked position. We're not talking 'cased in ice' here; just water that had gotten inside, no visible ice outside.

I custom fabricated my own deck gate to keep grandchild & grand-dog contained. I've already been harassed about having a "pool" latch on my deck. But... having seen D&D Technologies' MagnaLatch at most every vacation spot I've visited, how could one ignore the abuse those latches endure? Though heavy duty, I'm not excited about the latch being 95% plastic. I've seen photos on line where UV rays lighten their color over time. But hey, at least they won't rust! The snap-on screw cover gives it that final touch! I like the larger diameter self threading screws that were provided. To keep the brackets from wandering about my aluminum posts during installation, I clamped them into place. Using a 1/4" drill bit & the holes in the brackets as my template, I made a very shallow indentation in my post. This provided a recess for a much smaller drill bit, located in the exact center of each hole. The screws went in much easier than the instructions & the brackets never moved! I did not reply to the "Sturdiness" review because they've only been installed for a few days. I'm also paying close attention to what the great ball in the sky is gonna do to the finish. All in all, the latch came excellently packaged, all parts were there & it installed very easily. As a not-so-inexpensive latch, I figured the Aussies had some kind of on-line warranty registration?

Need a more improved lock for my fence. I have two of these now. Love the key option, of I need to lock. Easy to install, and directions are pretty helpful if you've never done it before. Material is durable and thr quality of the locking mechanism seems to be made well. Would recommend.
