When doing some rando research on the net, I saw some people raving about these strings. I bought some for a guitar that I had being shipped to me that was in super rough shape, and I knew had some broken strings. So a set of these (guitar of course) were the first things to go on it. And to my surprise, the guitar sounded beautiful. So now that it was time to replace the strings on my bass, I figured why not give these a try as well. My CT had Boomers on it when Carl sent it to me back in May. I was planning to replace those identically; because if that was Carl's go to, it made sense to me. But throwing caution to the wind, I bought the D'Addario's instead. Boy I couldnt be happier. They sound absolutely amazing. They play very nicely. Feel great on my fingers. And my CT just sounds amazing with them. BTW - It is mentioned on the Amazon listing; but worth restating. Dont forget that there is a code on the inner plastic bag holding the strings. I forgot about it for the guitar strings I bought. Luckily I placed my Boomers in the bag in case I wanted to put them back on later, and then remembered a few days later. Every 8 sets of strings gets you enough points for a free set. And points are equated to the value of the product bought, and can be applied to any other product. So a few sets of bass strings will net a free set of guitar strings, etc. ... show more

I have to buy extra long scale for my bass, so I end up having to buy Slinkies or Boomers because of their availability in my area. I thought I'd give these NYXL's a try and my instrument just opened up! Of course they're a little brighter because they're new strings, but the series of higher overtones just wasn't there before, so it took a little getting used to, but now I'm addicted! They're still not fully broken in yet but sound amazing. I'm getting much more of that "East Coast growl" without working so hard. ... show more

I've had my Ibanez BTB 5 String for close to 20 years and love it. The original string model is no longer available and I've been looking for a suitable replacement. I went back to the Ibanez website and found that these NYXL strings are now the OEM for the new BTB. Easy to install. Real rich ring and sustain. Nice feel. I can't speak to the longevity at this time but they seem to hold up and sound great. ... show more

This is what I was looking for in a string. Great feel on the fingers, flexibility that allows you to dig in and get some pseudo slap sounds with just fingers, sound snappy without too much high end zing. “My” perfect set of strings that will always be on my basses. Wipe them down and they will last you a long time. (Really goes for any string😉) ... show more

I'm using a beginner Yamaha bass and switched strings as an attempt to hold back my urge to upgrade, but once I put them on it was like getting a brand new, much fancier bass. They have "dark" lows and punchy metalic highs, don't really care about the mids but I guess they are just as good.
