It works as far as the ground isn’t too hard. But if you run into roots and rocks, a smaller drill won’t turn it. You need plenty of power to be effective.

    • Works great to start post holes in hard soil
Started post holes with it in hard soil, with a DeWalt 20V hammer drill, where a manual post hole digger couldn't easily penetrate. Once the pressure was relieved and the soil had a hole to collapse into, digging post holes got a lot easier. Highly recommend.

I needed to dig down 18+ inches, in tight spots with low headroom, to set four 8” sonotubes for for concrete footings. I saw this auger & bought it just hoping it might help. I used it on a 20v hammer drill, and it did more than help…it bored out those four holes, through some roots and gravel, literally in minutes. For the price, and the work it saved, this might be the best tool I’ve ever bought. ... show more
