  • Really involving main story in an impressive world, but some glitches.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
I didn’t follow the hype during development, just bought it because I was fan of the Cyberpunk genre. I am really enjoying this game and so are people I have spoken to. It looks pretty amazing and is expansive, and the main story and some NPC’s and their plot lines are very uniquely engrossing to me. I have found it hard to do look for side gigs and other activities because I really want to keep exploring the main characters and find out what comes next. But, walking though the city I have gotten involved in several local occurrences which did feel like I just happened upon a random event in progress. In reality there are numerous ones mapped out and waiting for you to find but still have a different setting or situation. Even the number of unique appearances and overheard conversations in the city seems be not repetitive and immense. The dialogue choices feel limited at first compared to other games which have a more obvious illusion of choice with a direct selection = branch. But my fiends have described events that occurred differently in my play through and there’s been a couple times I reloaded and tried an alternate approach to a scene which ended with a different person or location at the end. So I feel like there may be a more subtle decision tree algorithm at work. I am reminded of the open world gameplay I had in Fallout 4 (which also had some re-occurring glitches) but with the emotional pull of a singular plot like Last of Us or Horizon Zero Dawn. Hopefully the patches will make this stable enough everywhere that the game can stand on the positive aspects. I am giving 5 stars based on my experience. I don’t discount the result on older consoles that is unfortunately dominating the launch response. But for the most part I feel like this was a well envisioned product that did live up to my expectations. On my Xbox One X there is an occasional glitch for sure, but still playable if you have any patience with being set back a few minutes once in a few hours or walking by an odd rendering amidst a massively dense and populated cityscape. The combat has always run smooth for me through my 60 hours of play.. One legitimate warning I will give is that it is set in a dark future and is a mature rated game. At times it doesn’t pull its punches in depicting how some people resort to violence and abuse of others with low value placed on humanity. Not only gangs running the streets, but more individually tragic situations. Most of what I am talking about is related to NPCs that you get a look into their life, but if you are offended it may trigger you. I for one am very happy to have a game like this treat me like an adult because reacting to it and interacting with serious storylines can lead to a legitimate emotional experience that I rarely get in a video game. The major plots have not felt thin or hollow to me. ... show more

  • Amazing first person shooter!
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
This is a terrific game. The story is great, the gameplay is interesting - a huge sandbox game that takes you to crazy places. Not recommended for children!! It has violence, language, and sexual content. For anyone 17 and older- hella fun!! It's like a combination of Borderlands, Fallout, and Grand Theft Auto on hallucinogens. You can follow the main story line or do dozens of gigs and side quests in which you meet all kinds of weird characters. You can fully customize your avatar and each new piece of clothing changes your look. You level your character up, as well as your abilities, with large skill trees in 5 categories. There is a crafting element as well. HOWEVER - it can be pretty buggy and graphics aren't perfect, as it's really a next gen game for the previous gen system. This isn't the seller's fault, this is the game itself. There has been a large update and hotfix which has helped. ... show more

  • A GREAT RPG!
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Standard
☆I rate this game 9.8/10☆ I have played the game just over 598 days- over 14,300 hours, between the base game & DLC. This is an EXCELLENT RPG! The game is exciting, the map is large & there are LOTS of gigs & missions... Your dialogue choices will impact the game. Your actions will affect how npc's react to you... pulling a gun may result in a fight. Kill a bystander & NCPD will come after you. If your wanted level goes to 5 stars, be ready- MAXTac may show up... they were nicknamed the "Cyberpsycho Squad". There are lots of different cars in the game... and there are autofixer terminals scattered across the map, where you can buy cars. El Capitan has different cars he wants you to steal... afterwards, you get rewards, money & a discount towards the car of your choice. There are different ways to play... the corpo, the nomad, the street kid. There are quite a few endings to choose from in the base game. There are secret endings, but there are certain requirements. There are secret achievements too. The DLC has different endings... some cost in a big way. There are LOTS of cyberware builds to choose from, based on how you play... if you prefer shotguns, or sniper rifles; if you prefer to play the netrunner, there are lots of perks & attributes, that will make V very powerful. If you are playing on Series X, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying the DLC Phantom Liberty! CDPR did a FANTASTIC JOB on it! The ray tracing, 4K, & all the technical advances made over the years have added up to significant visual improvements! You can put the game play on an easy, medium, or very hard setting. Keanu Reeves does a great job playing Johnny Silverhand... My review would be VERY LONG, if I were to list all the things that set this game apart from the others... You can be as good as you want to be Or you can be as bad as you want to be. When you get into the secret underground facility Militech named 'Cynosure'... you better be ready- It will have your nerves frazzled while you are down there, trying not to get caught by the Cerberus MK II robot. You can't use any cyberware or hacks while you are down there, and you can't kill it. There is a lot of intense action in the game, and interesting characters that you meet along the way- some, you build friendships with, and others you will have a romance. There are twists & turns throughout the game... ... show more
