I ordered this Cutting Board,304 Foodgrade Stainless Steel Cutting Board for my teenage son. He’s heading off to college in the fall, and we’ve started picking up things for the dorm gradually, so we don’t have to do a giant shop over the summer. He loves cooking and knows there won’t be much opportunity in the dorms, but there is a communal kitchen he can share, and this small cutting board is great for dorm use. The board we received is about 11 1/2” x 8” and fairly lightweight; it’s small enough to stow in a drawer or crate. Of course he won’t be filleting fish in the dorms, but having a good small cutting board to cut fruit and veggies for snacks is useful, and he’s a devotee of cheese, and said this is a good size to use as a serving platter for cheese/charcuterie. (He really loves cooking and is trying to come up with ways to elevate the usual dorm Doritos and ramen experience, within the dorm rules.) This cutting board is made from food grade stainless steel. It has an oval cut out at the top with a small cut out intended for hanging it from a hook and is slim enough to easily slide into the corner of a cabinet. I’ve been eyeing stainless steel cutting boards for a while, but I’ll admit that I was curious; would the knife on stainless steel be annoying to listen to? I’m one of those people who gets a frisson when a chalkboard squeaks, so as much as I liked the sleek look of them, I had been holding back on getting a stainless steel cutting board for our kitchen. My son has given this small one a good try out, and I have too; I was very happy to discover that the knife on metal isn’t making spine-tingling, screechy noises. The stainless steel is easy to clean, dishwasher safe, and washes up in seconds in the sink. I’m thinking about getting a larger size for our kitchen; my kid likes the small one for his dorm. At the current price ($19.99) the stainless steel cutting board is sturdy and attractive; it seems in line with similar products, as I’ve seen many small stainless steel boards selling for between $13-$20. My one question is which side is intended for meat? The sales page says, “ One side is suitable for cutting soft foods like vegetables and fruits, while the other side can easily handle harder foods like meat and bones,” but I can’t see or feel a difference between the sides, other than the markings at the bottom. Each side has letters and/or numbers engraved; one says MMHUO and the other SH0U4. I’m guessing the M side is for meat, but that is a guess. Both sides felt similar, so I guess my kid will decide one side is for meat; I’d recommend the M side, since it’s a built in mnemonic. Nice small cutting board; can also be used as a small serving board for cheese, fruit and small nibbles.

I've gone through so many different kinds of cutting boards and have wanted a stainless steel cutting board for a while. I'm so glad I got this one because I love it! I like having the smaller size (which is about the size of a piece of copy paper). So far has helped me cut up fruits and veggies but will be getting the large size for larger prep needs for reparing multi or larger cuts of meat or fish. And its smooth surface will be perfect for rolling out dough. I like so much about this cutting board! I appreciated that the board comes wrapped in plastic film. It's double-sided, which makes it doubly useful during meal prep. After use it can be hand washed but also can go straight in the dishwasher. It's not too thin and not too heavy, but still feels substantial. And the cutout handle makes it easy to carry. Five stars for the quality, the look and the functionality of this cutting board.

Im giving it a 4 star despite my hang ups with this type of cutting board. This IS a heavier thicker cutting board and I'm very happy about that. It's not flimsy. It will do the job that you're looking for and then survive another day. What I have against the cutting board is that it is loud. They could have put some rubber feet on one side instead of having both sides available which might have dampened the noise just a little bit. If you're looking at metal cutting boards though you probably already realized that this is a problem, the sound at least. The other complaint that I have is, for metal cutting boards in general, they dull the knife quickly. That being said wood versus plastic versus metal who is going to win? That is up for the user to decide. For me it is plastic because it is that much quieter and it does not Dull the knife as quickly. That being said, again, it's up to the user to decide. This is a nice cutting board. just a little loud.

Wood and plastic cutting boards go bad so fast! This stainless steel cutting board is a game changer. You can cut veggies, fruits and it’s perfect for meat! Easy to clean and since it’s not wood or plastic you don’t have to worry about bacteria getting into the cutting board. I would consider this to be a small cutting board which for me is perfect since I don’t make super large meals. Highly recommend for the home chefs out there.
