I'd started eyeing the 6" jointers with Aluminum tables offered under other brand labels, but all actually built by Cutech. I decided to follow the "buy once, cry once" approach and go with the largest jointer I could rather than buy small and scale up later. Reasons to pick Cutech over some of the white label versions - - Carbide cutters - Cast Iron table - You're buying from the actual manufacturer The jointer arrives very well packaged, with thick engineered card edge beams protecting the corners of the styrofoam packaging. The jointer itself is swimming in machine oil within the plastic bag surrounding it, keeping rust at bay. This thing is heavy, as expected given the cast iron tools. Setup is pretty simple, and the fence was precisely square right from the box. Plug it in, turn it on, and start jointing!     • Jointer works well and in 12" version very heavy lol.
I ordered the 12" version of this jointer and there is only 2 things which are slightly negative. The jointer does its job very well and came boxed very well and in first rate condition. The bed was level and coplaner, and did not require any adjustment. The fence required assembly but was not hard and adjusted properly to 90 degrees. The two negative aspects are not deal breakers but something to be aware of. Number 1 the 12" version of this jointer is very heavy. This is good and bad. Good from the standpoint that its very stable and functions quite nicely. Bad in that for a bench top jointer, you are not going to be wanting to take it on and off a workbench very often due to the weight. I ordered and installed it on a Dewalt roll around planer table. Worked very well. Number 2 is actually more of a design issue, but one they have a solution for. The original fence is made out of aluminium and has a frosted surface. While its is mounted well, with extra brackets on either end for reinforcement, the frosted surface is a issue. When pushing a board along the fence especially when edge jointing the frosted surface causes friction or drag. Fortunately they offer a replacement cast iron fence which solves the problem. My personal opinion is it should provably come with the jointer if you order the cast iron tables and carbide cutters. In any case once they cast iron fence is installed and waxed it is much better. Over all you are not going to find many other options for a 12" jointer that works this well for near this price point. ... show more

Enjoyed every minute of using it. Easy setup and useful applications. Improves efficiency. I was thinking whether it is needed the answer is yes. Apt for small workplaces. Well built and sturdy.

My jointer arrived on 4/20/2023 - I have already ran several boards through it - all 2x4s roughly 5 ft in length. The results are excellent. I can only compare this to a Jet Jointer JJ-6CSX which I sold. I like the portability of this in my one car garage vs the standing jointer. the additional width compared to my old jointer is a nice welcome too, though I have yet to use it. Out of the box, the cast iron tables were well greased from factory and did not need any adjusting for my particular unit. I was happy about this because it seems like a pain to adjust the tables. Most benchtop jointers require the same level of adjusting so I am not going to ding cutech for this design. I'm sure they all come out of the same factory with different logos and colors on them. The wings that extend work well and I am happy to have them. Fence is easy to install and get to a perfect 90. Carbide spiral cutter heads seem easy to replace if one gets damaged. my previous jointer had straight blades and that required a more meticulous change. dust collection works well I have it hooked up to my wall mounted powertech dust collector. I have the 4 inch adapter kit from rockwell that I use on other tools as well. The longer fence with additional brackets to keep it at 90 is nice addition too. This is the only jointer with that system so far. I'm sure other will eventually catch on. Larger tools are nice, but when they become complicated to use it makes me want to use them less. This is plug and play. Will provide updates as I run wider longer boards through it and hardwoods. ... show more
